Roguelike fans will have some fun in Quest for Dungeons, just keep in mind, this roguelike doesn't mess around and when you die, you start over from scratch.

Quest of Dungeons may not be a groundbreaking game or an instant classic but it does its job: it's a fun dungeon crawler, with good skills and combat systems and a visual style which will fit perfectly with the nostalgic crowd.

The lenient difficulty, procedurally generated levels, and promises of plentiful loot prove that Quest of Dungeons has something for any roguelike or dungeon crawler fan.

It's become harder for roguelike games to stand out over the years due to an overpopulated market. As predictable as Quest for Dungeons may be, it is easily one of the superior ones now available on the Wii U eShop. Its quality design makes it easy to pick up and play, and can entertain players for minutes or hours at a time thanks to the unique simultaneous turn-based combat and procedurally generated dungeons. If you're in the mood for yet another roguelike adventure, Quest of Dungeons is a game you should consider.

What we have with Quest of Dungeons is a fairly competent Rogue-like that doesn't do much to make it a stand out in the genre. It does a good job of setting up unique classes and skills as well as presenting some difficult bosses. I would like to say that it could be good bit of quick fun, but some little issues with controls and some unnecessary interface issues really hold the game back from being as fun as it should.

Quest of Dungeons has all the good elements that make it a recommendable game: it's fun, simple to get into and fun to play. Even if some rooms start looking a bit repetitive after a while, Quest of Dungeons is addictive and very well designed for short, intense sessions.

Quest of Dungeons does everything right; it just doesn't do anything outstanding.

Quest of Dungeons is what happens when a formula is refined, but largely left the way it is. It's not going to appease those who are sick of the same old, but it will make those who want something that is refined happy. It's clearly not for everyone, but for those who have already dropped hundreds of hours into other dungeons, this one is worth the visit, so definitely jump on in.

Overall, Quest of Dungeons offers an enjoyable gameplay experience, but it fails to shine in any particular way. The classes don't feel different enough. There is little information regarding why your 50 damage weapon only inflicts 20 points of damage and how the number miraculously goes up when you level up. Plus, you're going to spend a lot of time going in circles, waiting for your health and mana to regen, time that would be much better spent actually playing the game.

It's strenuous trying to enjoy a game that has four difficulty settings that can all be worked around in the same fashion

Between the permadeath aspect, the random floor layouts of the dungeon and the smooth gameplay with retro style graphics, Quest of Dungeons is a blast to repeatedly play through.

Quest of Dungeons has consistently surprised me with its adherence to the core roguelike formula, with all of its randomness, while also maintaining a consistent degree of challenge.

The 16-Bit pixel art graphics of Quest of Dungeons are really nice and makes the game shine on the Wii U. You have choice of playing the game on the big screen or use Off-TV play. I found that it looks better on the big screen as it had a slightly darker hue on the Wii U Gamepad, but this was not a huge issue. It was very fun to do this Quest of Dungeons review, and I can't wait to see what the dev does for its next game!

Quest of Dungeons is a very fun game. It was a lot of fun on Wi U and 3DS, and this is still the case for the Nintendo Switch version. The only real difference is that, due to the nature of the Switch, you can play exactly the same game at home or on the go without any trouble while in its Docked, Handheld or Tabletop modes. If you're looking for an action-packed released on Switch, then I highly recommend this one!

Quest of Dungeons is an indie darling that does justice by the roguelike genre and makes it more accessible for Xbox One players. It's unbelievably charming cast will have you venturing and dying in the dungeons time and time again.

Quest of Dungeons might be one of the oldest rogue-likes on Switch, but it is easily one of the most entertaining for the price.

Quest of Dungeons, for many people, will initially live or die upon its looks unfortunately and if you enjoy a challenge that plays very well in handheld mode I encourage you to give the gameplay a look. Underneath the old school pixel graphics is a rewarding and challenging roguelike experience, one that will probably bring you closer to the original Rogue than anything else you'll play. The RNG (Random Number Generator) Gods are strong with this title, and though they are often quite cruel when things roll on your side it can be a great feeling. What's great is there is ample room for strategy and success (as well as humiliating failure, granted) as you encounter the biggest challenges in the game. Why settle for your fate when you have an opportunity to change it by being a tricky bastard? Quest of Dungeons has consistently surprised me with its adherence to the core roguelike formula, with all of its randomness, while also maintaining a consistent degree of challenge.

Beneath its 16-bit look, Quest of Dungeons presents surprising depth and a worthwhile challenge to those that are willing to brave its neverending rooms. In learning through repetition, I’m sure that most will stand a chance at restoring light to the world.

In fact, we have the classic Dungeon Crawler project, which is in the best traditions of the genre, knows how incredibly tighten, even without any distinguishing features compared to competitors. Actually, in this lies the main flaw of the game, the lack of something new.
