The Switch 2 Version of Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess adds besides the mouse controls, nothing new of value but it doesn't really need to because the tower defense concept plays out very well, even a year after the release of the game. Even when the town management aspect is tedious, you should try this exceptional game out.

Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess is a highly original offering that stands out and shines artistically, with great gameplay ideas and a Nintendo Switch 2 adaptation that makes good use of the Joy-Con 2's mouse-style controls, although it neglects other system features such as GameChat and GameShare. The mix of dynamic combat, resource management, and strategic defense creates a challenging, rewarding title that's highly recommended for those looking for something different.

There is no denying that Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess offers a niche experience that may not be for everyone, but if it aligns with what you think will be a good time, it more than executes the vision of its creators competently. There is definitely merit in trying out the demo if you are unsure, but for those seeking a great time of both action and strategy, this is one experience that should be high on your list when it launches.

Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess is a captivating game that stands out in a crowded market. While it may not have the polish of some blockbuster titles, its unique blend of tower defense and hack-and-slash gameplay keeps things fresh and engaging. The visuals are stunning, drawing heavily from Japanese culture and folklore, creating a vibrant world that is a joy to explore. The non-verbal storytelling is a bold choice that works surprisingly well, allowing players to immerse themselves in the narrative without the distraction of dialogue. Kunitsu-Gami is definitely a title worth experiencing, and I can see myself returning to it for more adventures.

Although there are some issues, such as a repetitive gameplay loop that can become tiresome towards the end, or smaller problems like certain environmental elements disappearing in front of you, Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess is an excellent start for what could become one of Capcom's major franchises in the future, seamlessly blending two genres that previously seemed unlikely to work well together.

Kunitsu-Gami was a pleasant surprise. The combination of tower defense and action is innovative and fun. The art is certainly the highlight and will stay with you long after you finish the game. Capcom got it right, and I hope this is just the beginning of a new experimental era for the company.

Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess reminded me of the 128-bit era when the gaming scene wasn't all about chasing success at any cost. Capcom’s title stands out by being unconventional, yet polished and fun. Don't be intimidated by its tight gameplay flow; the surprises from Osaka will impress you at every turn. Backed by excellent technical and gameplay elements, it’s a must-have for Japanese game lovers and those tired of repetitive productions.

Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess is one of the most pleasant surprises of the year. Moving away from the AAA blockbusters to which it has accustomed us, however, Capcom does not forget the requirement for the high quality of its offerings, this time surprising with a hybrid of action and tower defense that proudly pays homage to some powerful cultural aspects of the Land of the Rising Sun. Ludically layered, artistically off-par and content-wise generous, the quest of priestess Yoshiro and guardian Soh is a rare treat to savor. Not everything is perfect and a few smears subsist, let's be clear. But exactly as the Japanese tradition of Wabi-sabi dictates, sometimes it takes not only to accept imperfection, but to find in it the beauty of small things.

Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess is proof that the creativity and production freedom of a winning company only increases that status. The Osaka-based company's latest endeavour is an innovative mixture of genres capable of enthralling and involving a large segment of the public, all the more so strategy and tactics enthusiasts, but also those who are not at all accustomed to these areas. Progression and difficulty are in fact calibrated to perfection, making the title a must-have, also given its affordable price.

Kunitsu-gami: Path of the Godess is a risky venture in terms of both innovative gameplay and art direction, with a few minor drawbacks such as chaotic encounters sometimes and unbalanced difficulty levels, but the end result is a solid title that we hope the company adopts in its future productions.

A tower defense strategy game shouldn’t work as well as this does, even if it’s upgraded with gorgeous graphics and hack-and-slash action. Capcom’s Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess is one of the most surprising and unique games of the year so far for good reasons. Every part of this game, from unlocking and upgrading villager roles, to strategically placing them on the battlefield, and then jumping straight into the fight yourself is engaging and exciting. Even if you aren’t a fan of strategy or action games, this is enough of a blend that it still comes highly recommended.
