Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess is a unique work in its own right. Capcom has seamlessly blended action and tower defense - two seemingly unrelated genres - using an astonishing art style and the niche, mysterious theme of Shintoism, making the game look more like a piece of art emerging from a rural shrine. However, like many games that attempt to merge different gameplay styles, this fusion brings a fresh experience but also weakens the depth of both genres.

Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess is a blend of genres that demontrates how Capcom is one of the few brave Majors left that can experiment with games in a market of mere clones. Not a top-notch game, but a very consistent one.

Kunitsu-Gami is another unique game in Capcom's collection. It is very similar to the PS2-era project, which the company forgot to release for some reason. One of the most unusual projects of this year, successfully combining several genres, a mysterious mystical atmosphere and entertaining gameplay.

Kunitsu-Gami is something we thought we would only see during the PS2 days of Capcom when every game was innovative and new, but they achieved exactly that with this game with it's defend the tower mechanics and tight action controls

It’s a little annoying that so many people will play Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess and not then take it upon themselves to learn something about where the game comes from. To suggest it’s an “action tower defence” game is doing it a disservice. No. Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess uses the action tower defence mechanical framework to share something an authentic and meaningful interpretation of Kagura through the video game medium. Capcom previously did something similar with Okami, only to have people limit it to a “Zelda clone.” But just as Okami had something sincere to say about Japanese spirituality, so too does this game. Hopefully, at least some players are inspired to learn where this game comes from.

Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess is a story of Japanese legends and folklore that throws you into a beautifully designed world full of exploration and keeps carrying you toward the end. However, the road gets bumpy at times.

Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess proves that Capcom's golden period is long lasting. This unique title not only provides a fun and engaging experience, it does so with such ease it's kind of mesmerising. A fun gameplay loop, polished presentation and entertaining story make this a game to remember, as with other works from the same director! If action and strategy combined sounds like a good time then Kunitsu-Gami is a no-brainer; get it now and throw down some sick dance moves in the name of Yoshiro!

Undoubtedly, the original game combines action battles with the tactical use of settlers and preparations for the invasion of monsters. All wrapped up in Japanese folklore.

Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess is a unique strategy experience that draws from traditional Japanese culture to give us an incredibly detailed world to work through, one bite-sized level at a time. The strategy here is tight, the animations and combat look and feel great, and the dancing, music and base-building ensure that there's always something to do in the downtime between Seethe-destroying sorties. Capcom are still on that hot streak, and we are here for it.

Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess is a delightful surprise from Capcom. It's not a big-budget blockbuster or the obvious start to a franchise, but this unusual stand-alone game really feels like something creative and special. The core gameplay loop is plenty of fun, and the graphics are a testament to strong art design. Indeed, the only real complaints I can find are a few lackluster boss fights. It's a game that hearkens back to the days of titles like Okami - and not just in visual appearance. Kunitsu-Gami is absolutely worth a look if you're a fan of Capcom's unconventional titles.

Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess is a unique game with a beautiful art style. it once again shows that Capcom is not afraid to experiment with new ideas. that being said, hybrid nature of the game somewhat works as a double edge sword, meaning it stops both gameplay elements: Action and Strategic from becoming fully operational. Nonetheless, Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess is one of the most unique games in recent years.

Kunitsu-Gami Path of the Goddess is an amazing game deserving of a spot in Capcom's roster of games. I don't see it as something that'll get the Resident Evil treatment of world-building, but it is nonetheless another hit from Capcom. Hopefully, we may see another collaboration with Okami if the stars align. I highly recommend this game for players who enjoy a lot of hack-and-slash action in their games and wouldn't mind a small dose of RTS to round out the experience.

There is no denying that Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess offers a niche experience that may not be for everyone, but if it aligns with what you think will be a good time, it more than executes the vision of its creators competently. There is definitely merit in trying out the demo if you are unsure, but for those seeking a great time of both action and strategy, this is one experience that should be high on your list when it launches.

Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess is a captivating game that stands out in a crowded market. While it may not have the polish of some blockbuster titles, its unique blend of tower defense and hack-and-slash gameplay keeps things fresh and engaging. The visuals are stunning, drawing heavily from Japanese culture and folklore, creating a vibrant world that is a joy to explore. The non-verbal storytelling is a bold choice that works surprisingly well, allowing players to immerse themselves in the narrative without the distraction of dialogue. Kunitsu-Gami is definitely a title worth experiencing, and I can see myself returning to it for more adventures.

Although there are some issues, such as a repetitive gameplay loop that can become tiresome towards the end, or smaller problems like certain environmental elements disappearing in front of you, Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess is an excellent start for what could become one of Capcom's major franchises in the future, seamlessly blending two genres that previously seemed unlikely to work well together.
