Romancing SaGa 2: Revenge of the Seven Reviews
Romancing SaGa 2: Revenge of the Seven revitalizes the classic SaGa series with modern accessibility and enhanced visuals. This remake of the 1993 original balances the needs of veterans and newcomers while showcasing a complex, multi-generational storyline.
Romancing SaGa 2: Revenge of the Seven is a delightful reworking of a 16-bit era game, bringing it to a modern generation while keeping true to the art of the original. The challenging combat and depth of the original are completely intact, with new features and many modern niceties to make things less obtuse without hurting challenge or depth.
I was expecting just a decent RPG, but what I got was an outstanding game that kept me glued to the screen for hours on the end, and charmed me with its atmosphere. This is a game that summons memories of times when there were no DLCs, and games were not used for showcasing individual ideologies. Instead of dividing fans with different views, they brought them together in an adventure to save the world. Congratulations to the creators who skillfully combined classic elements with modernity.

Romancing SaGa 2: Revenge of The Seven is a remarkable game, building on a title that was ahead of its time. It brings a lot of flavor and uniqueness to the scene. For a JRPG, it has a somewhat generic story while still being pretty compelling. For a Generational game, it lacks many of the general facets of the genre, yet it manages quite well to bring it together.
Romancing SaGa 2: Revenge of the Seven is an AA remake from Square Enix that doesn't hide the fact that its production level is far below that of its main blockbusters. However, there are interesting ideas and mechanics in a simplified experience that could win over newcomers.

Revenge of the Seven is the unexpected remake that allows contemporary audiences to enjoy one of the most peculiar and futuristic JPRGs of its time. Romancing SaGa 2 returns in this new guise in fine form, thanks to an operation that improves and clarifies the more refined and complex mechanics of the original title. Its particularities make it unmissable for fans of the genre, who cannot fail to appreciate its audacity. Beware, however: those looking for a traditional experience (ludically and narratively) may find themselves faced with a complex title to decipher and appreciate.

Romancing SaGa 2: Revenge of the Seven is one of my favorite JRPGs I have played in recent years. The wonderful gameplay mechanics and storytelling that feel unconventional and non-linear succeed in creating a distinctive experience that can't be easily found anywhere else. I love that the decisions you make impact each aspect of the game, and the Inheritance mechanic is a cool way to change up your playstyle throughout the game and progress the narrative. It won't appeal to everybody, and I didn't feel that invested in the characters, but the pros heavily outweighed the cons. I am also so pleased that playing on the Steam Deck works so well. It's a ton of fun, runs extremely well, and is such a joy. This is easily the best way to play, and I can't recommend it enough!
Romancing SaGa: Revenge of the Seven does a lot very well, even though there are a few technical problems.

Its interesting proposal and the freedom of development offered by its peculiar mechanics make this remake an interesting entry point to this curious and still quite unknown franchise called SaGa by Square Enix. Romancing SaGa 2: Revenge of the Seven is an incredible title that deserves the attention of both fans of the franchise and those looking for a unique RPG.

Romancing SaGa 2: Revenge of the Seven is a classic through and through. Not many games have such unique systems and concepts and choose to stick by them after all of these years. This is a remake done with the utmost respect to the original, featuring modern accommodations that increase the ease of play while not diminishing the experience. Battles are strategic and fast-paced, with many variables to consider, from formations to character customization. The freedom of SaGa is on full blast with the classic decision-making from the original, which determines the outcomes of quests, what allies you'll gain, and how the Imperial Dynasty will continue. This remake ties it all together with a variety of helpful menus that communicate integral details such as tech point requirements and quest tracking.
Romancing SaGa 2: Revenge of the Seven is the premier way to check out this intriguingly non-linear JRPG. Players go about the battle against seven fallen heroes and the various generations of an empire with a solid level of player choice. Though the graphics, gameplay, and voice acting aren’t extraordinary, they do enough to make this a remake worth playing for newcomers and existing fans alike.
Romancing SaGa 2: Revenge of the Seven is a spectacular RPG. Its story is massive and expansive, leaping across time frequently. The combat is tight and satisfying, with plenty of freedom for exploration.. Romancing SaGa 2: Revenge of the Seven is one of the best RPGs of 2024 and should not be missed.
Romancing SaGa 2: Revenge of the Seven is a classic that has its pros and cons. You can completely customize the game with all the options and gameplay features, but the game is quite lacking in terms of quality. Graphically, the game looks very dated and in terms of user interface it is quite a mess. For fans of many RPG elements who want a lot of content for their money and demand more than enough possibilities, this will be a game to their heart's content. In addition, the game starts very slowly in the first hours, so you really have to bite through the sour until the goodies appear. Due to the mixed feelings, it is difficult to fully assess the game's value, as we previously read in our preview . It is clear that we remain somewhere in between in our judgment and given the pluses and minuses.

I’d have loved to see Romancing SaGa 2: Revenge of the Seven lean into its generational aspects a bit harder. While combat is excellent and exploring this world is rewarding, after the initial chapters, it would have been great to feel more connected to my party. Still, I had a great time going through this Kingdom, taking down the seven one by one, and bringing peace back to the land. RPG fans are almost certainly feeling a time crunch with so many excellent games released in the genre recently, but Romancing SaGa 2: Revenge of the Seven is yet another title worth finding the time for.
Romancing SaGa 2: Revenge of the Seven is a remake that manages to move between the qualities of the original and the modernity expected of a current game, presenting itself as a bold and unique experience in the RPG market. A testament to the franchise's effort to experiment over the decades, we have here a game that absolutely all fans of the genre, and even those who want to challenge themselves to see RPGs in a new light, should try.
