Ninja Gaiden 2 Black is a solid recreation of the original game, offering improved visuals and additional features. While it stays true to the challenge and feel of the original, some minor graphical issues and the high difficulty level may deter some players. Overall, it's a must-play for fans of the series and newcomers alike.
It may not be definitive or “complete”, but it still packs a lot of bang for your buck and offers one of the most robust action game experiences on the market. Ninja Gaiden Black II is utterly epic and will push gamers to their absolute limit.
Even though this remaster/remake version of Ninja Gaiden 2, which bursts into the scene like a firecracker, isn't the ultimate version and still carries its archaic flaws like a badge, it's INCREDIBLY fun to play. This is the kind of pure entertainment I want from games, don't miss it!

A solid remaster of a 3D action classic
Although there are some technical issues, Ninja Gaiden 2: Black manages to provide a very dynamic and fun experience. If you've never played other games in the series because you found them difficult, this one is for you.

Almost two decades after its original release, Ninja Gaiden 2 returns in Black form. While the core gameplay loop of cinematic action remains as compelling as ever, the focus here is clearly on updated visuals. The $50 price tag, however, feels a bit steep for what is essentially a visual refresh of a nearly 20-year-old game. Whether or not it's worth the price will likely depend on your level of nostalgia for the series. Hardcore Ninja Gaiden fans may find it hard to resist, but more casual players might want to consider waiting for a sale.

They don't make games like that anymore, and Ninja Gaiden 2 Black shows that this is a game with roots that go back almost 20 years. It's overly bloody, overly provocative, but it suits the game. Just like the dynamic action gameplay that won't let you breathe a sigh of relief. What's more, there's still a decent level of challenge to keep you going and motivated to improve. It's just a shame that, after all this time, the developers haven't tried to tweak a few things.

With it not doing enough to be like the original and not having everything Sigma added this might seem like wasted potential, but in the end this is the best current version of a classic and a game that can stand on its own against the newest of action titles.

Purists may lament that this isn't a true update of the original Ninja Gaiden II, as Ninja Gaiden II Black uses the Sigma 2 port as its base, but what has been put together here is still an incredibly fulfilling hack and slash action game that absolutely is one of the best in the genre. In a time where more and more franchises are going down the open and freer route, this is a reminder that a more linear and confined approach works wonders for this type of game.
Ryu Hayabusa returns with a good remaster operation, maintaining the intense and brutal combat system of Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2. The difficulty is more accessible and the new graphics made in Unreale Engine 5 are great, but there are still historical issues like the camera and some content missing compared to Sigma 2.

Ninja Gaiden 2 Black is a pleasant surprise for gamers who have been following the Tayabusa clan since the old Tecmo games of the 80-90s. A remastering at the height of the original title that offers about 13-15 hours of fun filled with extreme combat, frenetic action and many game modes as a reward after completing the campaign. The visual and performance improvements allow us to play at 4K 120 FPS turning the game screen into a spectacle of blood, gore and severed limbs.

Ninja Gaiden 2 Black is a triumphant return for the legendary ninja Ryu Hayabusa, delivering an experience that seamlessly blends the franchise's signature brutality with a stunning visual overhaul.
In many ways, the release of Ninja Gaiden 2 Black is a dream come true. Not only did fans get a stunning remake of one of the best action games ever, but it’s also attracted a whole new audience. I see countless posts on my timeline from gamers experiencing Ninja Gaiden for the first time. While the game does have a few pacing issues with the added characters and isn’t quite the complete package due to missing content from previous releases, it’s still hard to deny that Ninja Gaiden 2 Black is one of the best games in the genre. If you’re a fan of action games, I highly recommend playing it as soon as possible.
Ninja Gaiden 2 Black brings back a modern classic with significant improvements. Improved visuals, improved performance, and added content are a compelling reason for long-time fans and newcomers alike to dive into the game. However, the issues carried over from the original, such as its sometimes frustrating camera and difficulty spikes, are still present.

Ninja Gaiden 2 Black marks the beginning of the series' comeback, and what a comeback it is! The game offers fast and fun combat in the typical Hack and Slash style, this reason alone justifies giving it a try given the lack of games in this genre at the moment, and Black is a good opportunity to experience the game with excellent graphics thanks to Unreal Engine 5, even if there are some lingering issues from the original game.

Ninja Gaiden 2 Black isn’t perfect, but its razor-sharp combat and relentless challenge ensure it still stands tall.
Ninja Gaiden 2 Black is a must for fans of challenges and demanding action games . Its gameplay is still as enjoyable, its epic soundtrack and its technical improvements make the experience smoother than ever. However, it will not suit everyone: its brutal difficulty and aging graphics may put off some players. On the other hand, even if it is based on the Sigma 2 version , for those looking for a true test of mastery and skill, there is no better choice!
