Shinobi: Art of Vengeance is a love letter to SEGA's classic saga, blending old and new in a masterful 2D hack 'n slash. Challenging, rewarding, and packed with secrets and style, it's a must-play for action fans and a hopeful spark for a new SEGA renaissance.

From start to finish, the resurrection of the Shinobi franchise is one well deserved – with gorgeous visuals and a stellar ninja power fantasy that confidently (and silently) stands on its own two feet.
If you want a ninja themed side scroller, then put SHINOBI: Art of Vengeance at the top of your list. It is quite simply flawless.
If you're just looking for a 2D action platformer experience that you can play once and enjoy, Shinobi New is for you. But if you grew up with this game and are a fan of the action platformer genre, you might forget about it a week after Art of Vengeance. While the combat and platforming are new and, ironically, enjoyable, they take away Shinobi's identity.

This is how you bring a classic back to life! Shinobi: Art of Vengeance is exactly the kind of game an iconic name like Joe Musashi deserves, and Lizardcube has delivered a masterclass in how to modernize old classics. With its action, platforming sequences, visuals, music, and gameplay details - in short, with everything - it’s an outstanding title.

Shinobi: Art of Vengeance doesn't reinvent the genre, but it successfully blends its best elements into a worthy tribute to both the series and the genre itself. At its core, it still feels like Shinobi, yet the new developers add their own touch, delivering solid action with good length, replayability, and challenge. While cluttered fights, uneven checkpoints, and a weak story hold it back, it's still a worthy tribute to the series.

The variety of gameplay in Shinobi: Art of Vengeance makes for a top adventure. This is an excellent side-scrolling return for the series, with a little bit of everything for anyone seeking satisfying combat, plenty of collectibles, and challenging optional platforming segments. The thrill of battle never gets old, although some stages can get a little drawn out by the non-linear moments that could have been trimmed.
A fun and entertaining action platformer that doesn't just evoke nostalgia, but tries to move forward an old series with a long history.

Shinobi: Art of Vengeance once again puts us in control of the legendary Joe Musashi, and it's a genuine treat. Fast and fluid combat meets slick platforming and traversal, and when you add in the game's stunning art and excellent soundtrack, you're looking at game of the year material.
Shinobi: Art of Vengeance is a beautiful-looking game that feels like a great addition to the series. It is challenging and full of non-stop ninja action.
Shinobi: Art of Vengeance is a wonderful revival of the long-dormant franchise, and it combines excellent combat with an engaging pseudo-Metroidvania gameplay style. I had a rollicking good time from start to finish. My only real complaint comes from the somewhat finicky precision platforming, but even that is limited to some optional, late-game areas. If you're a fan of the franchise, there's a lot to like, but this latest ninja revival is good for newcomers and longtime fans alike.
Shinobi: Art of Vengeance is, honestly, the definition of a video game. It has an incredible and addictive combat system, stunning graphics, a well-executed metroidvania vibe in the levels, a cliché story that perfectly matches the theme, and challenging extra modes.

I had a blast with SHINOBI: Art of Vengeance as its modern gameplay approach, enjoyable combat, and stunning presentation really make it stand out as a worthwhile reimagining of an iconic series. Can we have more games like this, please? Thanks. 🗡️
Shinobi: Art of Vengeance is not a game that sets new standards. But it is one that impresses with its craftsmanship, clear sense of style, and palpable attention to detail. It takes familiar mechanics from classic action games and combines them with modern technology and a well-designed combat system. The result is a game that keeps you hooked for long periods of time. The heart of the game is clearly the combat system. It is challenging, precise, and rewards players who are willing to get into its rhythm. Parries, dodges, and attacks mesh cleanly, creating a satisfying gameplay experience even after hours of play. Those who enjoy direct, tactical close combat will find plenty to enjoy here. The story, on the other hand, remains rather superficial. It provides the necessary framework without really setting any accents. Characters and dialogues remain vague, but the game knows that its strength lies elsewhere, namely in atmosphere, style, and mechanics. Visually, Shinobi impresses with its clear aesthetics. The hand-drawn environments, combined with subtle effects, create a unique, almost calm mood that fits the setting well. It's clear that a lot of work has gone into the small details. The bottom line is that Shinobi: Art of Vengeance is a solid, well-rounded action game that knows its roots and uses them to form something of its own. It's an example of how coherent game design, clear mechanics, and visual consistency can come together to create a compelling overall picture.
