The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered is the return in style of one of the most influential RPGs of the last two decades. It is true that it drags some limitations of its original design and that it needs a better optimization, but the graphics are incredible and the changes in the gameplay are much deeper than it seems. Classic role-playing, but good role-playing.

In a timeline where Bethesda can be a wild dice roll, this one’s a critical hit, thanks to the combined efforts of Bethesda and Virtuous. This isn’t just a visual upgrade—it’s a heartfelt tribute to Cyrodiil itself, lovingly reforged with modern-day sorcery.
Oblivion Remastered successfully captures the essence of Oblivion’s charm and, in doing so, it pays deserving respect to one of Bethesda Game Studios’ most treasured games.
It is still janky, occasionally ugly, and featuring some inexcusable bugs, but the core game is so good, so damn immersive and entertaining, you will keep on playing it for hours on end. It’s an updated and (ever so slightly) improved way to experience a classic RPG that doesn’t feel like it’s already 19 years old. Grab an axe, improve your charisma stats, completely ignore the plot and the urgency behind the main critical path, and immerse yourself in the land of Cyrodiil.
Oblivion Remastered is a stunning visual reimagining powered by Unreal Engine 5, faithfully preserving the soul of the 2006 classic. Beyond a few tweaks, it’s a nostalgic illusion of modernity, more a loving restoration than a reinvention, with all the strengths and quirks of the original intact.

The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered is the best remaster of Oblivion that fans could ask for. The spirit of the original is held intact and delivered with amazing new visuals and slight gameplay improvements; just beware the occasional performance issues, and remember that the improved gameplay is still 19 years old.
About as good as a graphical remake and gameplay remaster can be, for an all-time classic.
