The best simcade racing game I've played since the last one.

The real beauty of Forza Horizon 6 is in how the Japanese world feels alive, and how rewarding it is to just go bimbling about. FH6 was always going to be an easy sell, and a reskinned FH5 would probably have sufficed, but Playground Games have smashed it out of the park. The world is great, the cars are amazing, and the racing action, whether on the streets, on the track, or in the wilds, is second to none.

Very few games manage to create memories this naturally. Forza Horizon 6 is not merely the best entry in the franchise. It is the ultimate realization of what the Horizon series has always wanted to become. Japan was worth every year of waiting, and Playground Games has delivered a racing game so ambitious, beautiful, welcoming, content rich, and emotionally immersive that it genuinely feels historic.

Simply put, Forza Horizon 6 does what a open-world racing game sequel is supposed to do and then some: amplify its core gameplay hook while just delivering new areas and driving maps, offering a fresh perspective amidst the familiar open-world racing established by the series.

It's another Forza Horizon, for all its faults, but also its many, many triumphs. Forza Horizon 6 isn't an ambitious sequel, but its version of Japan is still a joy to race through.

Playground Games does it again: equal parts adept teacher and artisanal tour guide, Forza Horizon 6 takes the lessons from 14 years of series history and applies them with panache.

It would be easy to say that Forza Horizon 6 is simply the best version of itself so far, and leave it at that, but that undersells what it truly achieves. It is an accumulation of its past five iterations, but somehow remains light on its feet.

Forza Horizon 6 is a gorgeous open-world game that is as much about racing as it is about taking a virtual vacation.

In a lot of ways, this is my ideal video game. Becoming one with the controller and the vehicle in a drop-dead-gorgeous setting that essentially never runs out of content? It’s almost perfect, and I think it’s fair to use that word for the craft that is on display in Forza Horizon 6.

If what you come to Horizon for is a space to live out your fantasies of collecting cars and driving them around stunning, real-world-inspired locations, there is simply no game that does it better. But if you wanted a little more from Forza Horizon 6; a bit of an edge or some rewarding friction, you should look elsewhere.

Forza Horizon 6 is a master class in car culture with technical driving and customization running through its veins, a gargantuan amount of modes to jump into, and an accessible seamlessness to it all. For seasoned veterans, it's easily the best in the series, and for those getting their first taste of Horizon, it'll be the best racing game you've jumped into in a long time. $47.88 at HRKGame Int $69.99 at Amazon $69.99 at Target $69.99 at GameStop

Forza Horizon 6 is as good as you hoped it would be. Japan has quickly become my favorite location, and the in-game map really does it justice. There's so much to see and do that even after spending the past week with the game, it feels like I've barely scratched the surface. While again, there isn't much in terms of new ideas or innovation, the Horizon series didn't need it. There's already a well-established formula in place, and Playground Games did well to continue delivering one of the best racing experiences you'll ever have with Forza Horizon 6.

Forza Horizon 6 isn’t trying to revolutionize the series. The game modes, customization, and even UI have a close resemblance to the franchise’s recent entries. Instead, Playground Games finds freshness in its Japanese setting, which paves the way for stunning new regions, dope cars, and an overall slickness to everything you do.

Forza Horizon 6 is another excellent entry in an excellent series, from an excellent developer. Part of me wants more than that, but I've no idea how that would work.

Forza Horizon 5 was already an exceptional racing game, but Forza Horizon 6 takes everything up a notch to deliver an even more engaging, entertaining and all-encompassing experience. There's an absolute wealth of racing, exploring and collecting to do here, and that's before the inevitable live-service updates start adding even more content. Few games are as essential as this.
