Rayman: 30th Anniversary Edition Reviews
Rayman: 30th Anniversary Edition celebrates the classic platformer with a collection that brings together five versions of the original Rayman alongside extras focused on preserving the franchise’s history, including an interactive museum and a playable prototype. While it offers an interesting look behind the scenes of the game’s development, the package feels limited due to the lack of variety, as each version delivers nearly the same experience. The gameplay retains the challenging feel of its era, with rigid controls, though modern features like rewind help soften the difficulty. Overall, it works better as a historical celebration for fans than as a content-rich collection.

“Still a beautiful, challenging, and unique platforming experience even after 30 years.”

Rayman: 30th Anniversary Edition fulfills its purpose as a tribute to one of the most iconic platformers in history, combining nostalgia, historical content, and new experiences in a balanced way. The inclusion of multiple versions, previously unreleased levels, and a never-before-seen prototype demonstrates exceptional attention to detail and the fans of the series. Its stable emulation, modern features, and reimagined soundtrack solidify an accessible and enjoyable experience for both veterans and new players.

While the intention to preserve the historical memory of the first Rayman is a commendable initiative, it is equally true that the same result could have been achieved with a simple emulator or through services such as PS Plus or Nintendo Switch Online. A somewhat lacklustre 30th Anniversary Edition that offers very little in the way of a true celebration - not to mention the incredible new bugs affecting saves.

Compiled with love and care for its iconic mascot, Rayman's 30th Anniversary Edition has some odd and major pitfalls, but it's still a worthwhile package for those interested in gaming history.
Rayman continues to be considered a hidden gem, and now its first title is being remembered and preserved as a historically valuable item through its 30th-anniversary edition. It's incomplete due to the lack of the Sega Saturn version and a new soundtrack that completely replaced the original, with no option to switch between them. Even so, for big fans of the armless character from the French publisher, it's a worthwhile experience.

Rayman 30th Anniversary Edition is a fitting tribute to one of the main mascots of the 32-bit era, and the different versions included show how a 1990s title can age well, even with some structural flaws. From a memorabilia standpoint, the timeline is wonderful, portraying everything from Michel Ancel's ideas to all the paths that led to the character's creation. The lack of the original soundtrack is a significant drawback, however, it doesn't overshadow the Rayman anniversary celebration.

While timed jumps are not my forte, I found myself drawn into the action and learning the timing of the game.
Rayman: 30th Anniversary Edition is how such remasters should be done. All versions, all the content you could imagine, tons of modern emulation tricks, a never before available playable prototype, and a brilliant new documentary to boot. It’s even priced well, at 19.99 USD/EUR! Now… can we please get a similar treatment for the Rayman sequels?
Rayman: 30th Anniversary Edition is a vibrant and lovingly assembled celebration of a platforming classic. The amount of content, the quality of the enhancements, and the excellent history section make it easy to appreciate how much work went into this collection. Despite a few frustrations and missing features, it is a great way to rediscover Rayman or experience it for the first time. It is nostalgic, colourful, and still a lot of fun to play.
Rayman: 30th Anniversary Edition offers an excellent journey into the origins and history of the first Rayman adventure. However, the absence of the original compositions lower the overall rating, as the atmosphere clearly suffers without them, and therefore it cannot be described as the definitive release.

Rayman 30th Anniversary Edition arrives on Nintendo Switch as a triumph of preservation and technical fluidity. It recovers the lost SNES prototype, adds 120 extra levels, and polishes its visuals. Although the original soundtrack is missed, its impeccable performance and dazzling art make it a must-have for the console.

Rayman: 30th Anniversary Edition is an odd collection to talk about. On one hand, I was shocked at how well its visuals have aged, and I love how the addition of a rewind feature makes these once-frustrating games a lot more bearable to deal with. I also love the fact this absolute classic of a game is now preserved to posterity. But I also expected more from it. In terms of side content, the only neat inclusion worth speaking of is the 1992 SNES prototype. No interviews, no extras, no art galleries, no nothing.
As a fan of the later titles, it was a treat seeing where it all began with Rayman 30th Anniversary. This classic 2D platformer, while flawed, holds up remarkably well in 2026. Great quality of life additions and a fantastic treasure trove of behind-the-scenes content make this a strong release despite the exclusion of the original soundtrack.
Even 30 years later, Rayman 1 remains creative, challenging, and artistically beautiful, even without the faster pace of Rayman Origins and Rayman Legends. We hope this truly is the "first step towards Rayman's return," as Ubisoft has been saying.

Rayman: 30th Anniversary Edition is a lovely package that takes players on a nostalgic trip down memory lane with its heartfelt tribute to an iconic platforming hero. The museum content is stellar and the core platforming still absolutely shines brightly, and whilst the somewhat limited game roster and missing original soundtrack do hold it back, there’s no doubting that this is still a wonderful way to experience the limbless hero’s early adventure all over again. And hey, here’s hoping we’ll have another anniversary celebration for some of his other adventures down the line too…

Rayman 30th Anniversary Edition includes five versions of a classic 2D platformer and surrounds them with a carefully chosen historical archive. The MS-DOS version alone has more than 120 extra levels made by fans and developers using the Rayman Designer tool, which makes it much more fun to play again. But you might wonder how much variety there really is beyond little differences in sound and animation, as most versions are very similar.
Rayman 30th Anniversary Edition is a great history lesson on the creation of the character who would become the face of Ubisoft and launch its success. The collection highlights the enormous effort Michel Ancel and his team put into creating a platformer brimming with colorful illustrations, numerous animations, and considerable difficulty. Quality-of-life improvements help more players immerse themselves in Rayman's lyrical world, and the additional levels will challenge even the most seasoned veterans. Despite the mistake of replacing part of the original soundtrack, this is a collection worth owning, and its price is fair.

A pretty miserable anniversary celebration that treated an otherwise great developer dirty.
