The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales Reviews
The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales is a treat for fans of action RPGs such as The Legend of Zelda and Alundra, with plenty of exploration to be done, dungeons to conquer, and weapons and spells to acquire. Some may find it a little simplistic in ways, but those who get engrossed in the adventure it provides will undoubtedly love it.
The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales is an excellent action RPG that clearly demonstrates its influences, but uses them to deliver a unique game. It shines in its combat, exploration, and a good story that makes every hour worthwhile.

The inspirations are clear, but so too is the understanding of what makes for enjoyable minute-to-minute gameplay. The longer you play, the more the cracks begin to show, but the story manages to push you forward and the hidden plots beneath it make going out of your way an oft fulfilling detour. The red mage-looking Elliot has made a fan out of me, and if Link ever wants to take a break from stopping Ganon, Square Enix has a capable backup waiting in the wings.
Make no mistake, The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales is a beautiful game top to bottom. Combat is phenomenally varied, fluid and rewarding, alongside customisable perks and buffs for Elliot’s extensive arsenal of weapons. The world map is impressive to an extent, but there is a bit too much repetition across the various time periods, including having the same enemies. Nonetheless, puzzles, exploration and the wealth of combat options make this a must play for action RPG fans, and should certainly scratch the itch for those looking for a combination of HD-2D and old-school top-down Zelda games.
The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales draws inspiration from the classic Zelda games and reimagines their formula in a compelling way. Dungeons, exploration, and combat are the game's strongest points. It's a shame, though, that the game reuses settings and enemies, which prevents it from fully realizing its potential.

The Adventures of Elliot: The Millenium Tales stumbles at times on the journey it sets out to take, but following Elliot and Faie on their adventure through the ages is still a great idea for any fan of classic RPGs.

I had great deal of fun playing through The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales with its rewarding gameplay and delightful presentation. ⏳
The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales feels different and like an example of Square Enix taking a chance, and that’s why I loved this action-RPG.
Despite my frustrations, by the end, I just couldn’t find myself to truly dislike The Adventure of Elliot: The Millennium Tales as a whole. It just has too much heart, and I see a lot of room for improvement.
The Adventures of Elliot has so much untapped potential that it becomes frustrating even just talking about it: every single aspect of the game seems to have been designed without taking the others into account, but somehow the whole manages to be incredibly coherent with itself .

The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales isn't Square Enix's most ambitious game, nor does it set out to reinvent the genre. It is, quite simply, a lovingly crafted adventure that is aware of its influences and proud of them.

With The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales, Team Asano and Square Enix have clearly stated that "we didn't just make this genre for turn-based games," and they've delivered a game that proves it.

The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales is a great nostalgic-themed action-adventure game from Square Enix. The HD-2D style shines in its action-adventure debut. It is not without some problems, but it ultimately delivers 20+ hours of fun and a wonderful story to experience. The combat is simple, the world is layered and very rich in a variety of locales. Not to mention the music being just as good as every HD-2D thus far. This game is absolutely worth every second you play in it. I could not recommend it enough, as it offers just a simple, warm, and fun adventure.
Team Asano proves the HD-2D aesthetic works beautifully outside turn-based JRPGs. A Zelda-inspired adventure that respects its influences without being defined by them, with a combat customization system that keeps you engaged long after the credits roll.

The Adventures of Elliot The Millennium Tales has all of the good “small” playable game on long phases or just the time of a small dungeon or to get closer to the next goal. Driven by an aesthetics now mastered by the teams of Square Enix and Claytechworks and embellished with an anime style for dialogues. The sound part is not on the same level. The overall experience is sympathetic, but can have boring segments, and please silence the fairy.

The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales is an excellent game that could be a great start to a new Square Enix action-adventure series. Though I think the tools are given out a bit too quickly, the exploration, combat, and narrative all succeed at what they set out to do, crafting a breezy and exciting title that’s certainly worth your time. I hope Elliot gets to take part in more adventures going forward, as I’d be there day one.
The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales is a beautiful, charming, and frequently brilliant action RPG that earns its inspirations. If Team Asano and Claytechworks get to make a sequel with this engine and the rough edges get smoothed out, they'll have something even more special.
The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales is a wonderful old-school, action-RPG adventure that’ll keep fans of the genre hooked from start to end. It successfully translates the beautiful HD-2D aesthetic into a fast-paced action experience, and between the rewarding combat, the clever dual-character mechanics, and a gorgeous world brimming with secrets to uncover, this is an adventure that you simply won’t want to see come to an end... good thing there are multiple endings, right?
The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales has pleasantly surprised me. Square Enix and Claytechworks have dared to step outside their comfort zone with a highly dynamic, beautiful action-RPG that features a combat system far more complex than it initially appears. Not everything works equally well, however: the repetition of environments across different eras, the level design, and the limited variety of enemies detract from the game’s appeal.
