Silent Hill: Townfall Reviews
Silent Hill or not, Townfall is just a mediocre horror with nice graphics and dull stealth sections.

Anchored by clever puzzles, atmospheric dread, and a solid mix of stealth and action, Silent Hill: Townfall initially feels poised to deliver a survival horror classic. However, it's ultimately held back by shallow characters, a predictable story, and forgettable enemies, settling instead for a fun, if uninspired, spin-off.

Screen Burn’s offering is the latest entry in the celebrated horror series and apart from some snags in the stealth department, it ticks all the right boxes with its well designed puzzles, gripping story and eerie atmosphere.
Silent Hill: Townfall understands that horror doesn't always come from fighting monsters. Sometimes it comes from walking through an unfamiliar place, hearing something nearby, knowing you have limited resources, and realizing that you may not understand what is happening around you.
Sometimes all it needs is another town, another damaged mind, and enough fog to make taking the next step feel like a terrible idea.
Silent Hill: Townfall is a top-tier horror title—at once political and intimate, albeit occasionally imperfect—in which St. Amelia lingers with you even after the credits roll.

Silent Hill's stellar revival continues as new developer Screen Burn melds stealth, meticulous world design, and a dash of social realism for a different sort of survival horror.
Like the intravenous needle permanently jutting out of its hero’s wrist, Silent Hill: Townfall gives this long running series a welcome shot in the arm.
Silent Hill: Townfall is just the right mix of old and new. It has classic psychological horror and grotesque monsters with the added benefit of the CRTV as a new puzzle solving and stealth tool.
It doesn’t quite reach the level of enjoyment I got out of Silent Hill f last year; however, there are a lot of elements that work incredibly well here, making this another strong entry in the franchise that I’d absolutely love to see inspire future games in the series.
Townfall, like Silent Hill f before it, expresses what I love most about the comeback.
Silent Hill: Townfall is a new take on the franchise created in a partnership between developer Screen Burn, Annapurna Interactive and Konami.
Silent Hill: Townfall is the best the survival horror series has been in 25 years. Developer Screen Burn takes the series into first-person with a new remote Scottish town setting, breathing fresh energy into the franchise. But while some things change, Silent Hill's phenomenal atmosphere, visuals, and sound design remain. It's a horrific, often unsettling experience, but it's one that I never wanted to stop playing. $49.94 at Amazon $49.99 at Target Check Best Buy
With an exceptional atmosphere that keeps you hooked from beginning to end, an interesting story focused on a corporation disaster, solid puzzle design, and immersive stealth gameplay, Silent Hill: Townfall succeeds on nearly every front.
Silent Hill: Townfall is a great horror game that prioritizes immersion, using small details to make you feel like you’re walking the cold and lonely streets alongside the protagonist.
Townfall shifts perspective, but not vision. Alluding to and projecting the saga's greatest hits, the journey to Scotland immerses us in a mystery that is less mystical and more psychological, a new, high-quality trauma worth experiencing.

Silent Hill: Townfall got its hooks into me pretty quickly, and I'm desperate to keep going back for more playthroughs. Purists might moan that it's once again not set within Silent Hill, but the series has always been more than just a physical location. It is an entity, a state of mind, a place where people are forced to confront the things they would rather leave buried. Townfall understands that. It takes the ideas, themes and psychological horror that make Silent Hill what it is and puts them somewhere new.
Silent Hill: Townfall offers up one of the most tense and compelling survival horror experiences in recent years, as long as you're willing to meet it on its own terms.
Silent Hill: Townfall expertly translates Silent Hill's uniquely disturbing brand of survival-horror to first-person.
Silent Hill: Townfall offers a different flavor than most Silent Hill games, and while that may turn some people off, it also draws others in with its unique, intimate setting.
