ReStory is a cosy game that takes cosy to the next level. It’s easy to get into, and it’s easy to pass the time with. It creates that itch where you spend your day thinking about it and can’t wait to get back to it. Giving ReStory the Platinum Thumb Culture Award was an easy decision to make. I’ll be playing this game for the foreseeable future, and I’m sure I’ll keep going back to it as my fallback game when I can’t decide what to play.

ReStory: Chill Electronics Repairs takes a genuinely niche premise and turns it into one of the most relaxing and surprisingly fun simulators I’ve played in a long time.

At this point in 2026 I have played a lot of video games for review, and I haven’t even begun to think about my GOTY list. But I can tell you right now, without a shadow of a doubt that ReStory: Chill Electronics Repair will make my list.

On the surface, ReStory: Chill Electronics Repairs can be chill as the title suggests, but dig a little deeper and you find yourself on the sidelines of a thriller movie plot, surrounded by intrigue and people running away from shadowy figures. Gameplay-wise, this is one of the more compelling repair simulators out there, all because it is simplistically elegant in its execution and rewards smart and prudent choices. Moreover, there is some replay value to be had if you wish to try different choices for alternative outcomes. All-in-all, I highly recommend this game for repair sim enthusiasts, and to a lesser extent, mystery thriller story fans.

ReStory: Chill Electronics Repairs is a great game and definitely worth recommending. My only real complaints are the music, which starts to get on my nerves after a while, and the storyline, which doesn’t fully live up to its potential. It’s also not a game I’d recommend to people looking for a precise and detailed electronics repair simulator. Because even though I’m no handyman or electronics expert, even I can see that in this regard, it’s not an overly realistic game. It’s more like playing with electronic Lego blocks—cleaning, repairing, and assembling them. But that doesn’t bother me at all. I wanted a relaxing, cozy game about assembling and repairing nostalgic electronics, and that’s exactly what I got.

The first few hours of ReStory: Chill Electronics Repairs captivated me so much that I didn't notice the time passing. Tinkering with the devices is very satisfying. Every connection, every screw removed, everything is an orchestra of sounds that hypnotize you, and you don't want to stop. Despite this, the following hours aren't as exciting, not in the sense of being bad, but rather that the game doesn't go much further than that. And that's not a bad thing, but it also doesn't surprise you. The tools that are introduced aren't exciting; I even preferred it when I didn't have access to them. I don't know if it's the way I'm playing, but it seems like the game drags on more than it should, even if I rushed just to advance the story; it seems like the game stretches out to have a slightly longer story. The fact that it has multiple paths also bothered me a bit, since I don't see myself having the urge to restart a game of this genre from scratch just to see other story paths, which clearly isn't what attracts the player. In the end, none of that matters, because ReStory: Chill Electronics Repairs is a game that manages to stand on its core, which is the fun and satisfaction of fixing electronic devices. And it does that very well.

ReStory: Chill Electronics Repairs far surpasses all expectations, being one of the most immersive experiences in the genre. By combining extremely enjoyable gameplay, attention to atmosphere, a huge catalog of technological relics, and a narrative anchored by a humanized protagonist—even if the narrative pace can drag a little at times—the title from Mandragora Studio delivers much more than just another task simulator.

For a simulation title, ReStory: Chill Electronics Repairs is exceptional, giving you a great simulation of a very niche idea in an even more niche setting. That being said, the game’s main mechanic could use more complexity, and the loop can get a bit repetitive and grindy, making the game best enjoyed in short bursts.

If you enjoy the meditative satisfaction found in sim games but want something with a bit more charm (and a bit of Y2K nostalgia), ReStory is an absolute must-play. The balance between managing your business and the tactile joy of restoring old technology is pretty much flawless, whilst the charming narrative, engaging sense of progression, and lovely visuals and audio go a long way in making it the complete package. It’s just a wonderful game, but be warned: once you start playing, you’ll find it hard to stop!

ReStory is a wonderfully satisfying repair simulator that understands exactly what makes this type of game enjoyable. Every 2000s-era device is thoughtfully designed, the progression feels meaningful because you’re constantly acquiring practical new tools instead of chasing abstract skill upgrades, and the steady rhythm of taking things apart, cleaning them, and putting them back together never grows stale. There’s very little friction to disrupt the cozy atmosphere, but ReStory never relies on that coziness at the expense of meaningful and absorbing gameplay.

ReStory is a chill repair shoppe simulator. It’s got a fairly accurate representation of how devices are actually repaired pat down, accompanied a pleasant visual style and a strange little story that moves along as you build up your corner store. Perfect for the dood that loves making old hardware talk or someone who just wants to get through their audiobooks but has the attention span of a cat sitting near a laser pointer and a box of treats. ∎

ReStory is a relaxing game that combines the laid-back sense of accomplishment from repairing things with a well-designed gameplay loop that keeps you coming back for more. It’s almost hard to believe that scrubbing down metal frames and twisting screws could be such a pleasant activity, but I can’t stop doing it to unwind. I had a really good time with ReStory. Every time I'd play it, I'd intend to give it an hour or so, then look up and realize I'd put my entire afternoon into my repairs! It may not be the most complicated game, but it's incredibly relaxing and really epitomizes cozy gaming. Definitely give this one a go, it's a really great way to unwind, full of charm, and just overall a great experience.
