A good, generous and solid sequel that will delight fans of retro FPS games, without really taking the genre in a new direction.

A gore-geous pixelated boomer shooter, Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun 2 builds on its predecessor by delivering an engaging, replayable campaign in spite of some minor blemishes.

There was nothing that changed the pace of the game, it was all fast action; which got repetitive after a handful of levels. Even with that issue though I would still recommend this game to any fans of retro shooters or the 40K universe as a whole.

In every way that a sequel can and should improve over its predecessor, Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun 2 succeeds. A thunderously crunchy and wholly entertaining boomer shooter that firmly plants a steel-capped boot up the rear end of Games Workshop's most recognisable setting, Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun 2 is essential fare for fans of both its titular dark sci-fi setting and classic first-person shooters. For the God-Emperor!

Similarly to its predecessor, Boltgun 2 is a solid old-style shooter that is consistently good, but never excellent.

It remains a highly effective homage to classic boomer shooters and Warhammer 40,000.

Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun 2 improves upon the original with tighter level design and outstanding visuals. Giving players the choice between Sister of Battle Nyra Veyrath and Ultramarine Malum Caedo adds a lot of variety to the gameplay, as both move differently and have a different roster of weapons.

An excellent follow-up and a solid boomer shooter in its own right, Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun 2 is strongly recommended for fans.

Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun II is exactly the sort of sequel it should be. The combat is better, bloodier and even more satisfying. If you’re into retro shooters, don’t even think twice – just go ahead and buy it.

Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun 2 brings significant changes to the table, and although some tweaks land better than others, the game is ultimately a solid step forward for the series that cements its place in the modern retro-FPS lineup.

Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun II offers a fun, adrenaline-pumping excursion into the grim darkness of the far future. Once the beautifully rendered smoke clears, it becomes easy to see that beneath the glorious bloodshed lies a shooter that struggles to offer much beyond its basic premise. Encounters quickly become repetitive, levels are forgettable, and uneven balancing and uninspiring mechanics prevent it from reaching the upper echelons of the genre - and yet it manages to remain tons of fun despite all this. In conclusion: the bolter will roar, the Imperium’s enemies will turn into tasty paste, and the galaxy will once again be reminded of an Adeptus Astartes' thoughts on foreign policy.

Its old-school formula can mean it feels a little repetitive at times, but Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun 2 is a sequel that's undoubtedly bigger and better, with more replayability thanks to its two playable characters and branching paths in its campaign.

Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun 2 feels familiar in all the right ways as far as gameplay is concerned, but really takes things up a notch with the addition of a second playable character.

With this sequel, Auroch haven't reinvented the winning formula from the original game. Instead, they've refined it. It's more. It's bigger. It's better. Boltgun 2 is an 8 hour bullet ballet through a vibrant Warhammer 40K world that you'll want to restart as soon as you've finished it. In my humble opinion, it's one of the best boomer shooters to hit the market in years and is essential for fans of Warhammer 40K. For the Emperor.

Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun 2 is a bloody, fast-paced old-school shooter that perfectly captures the grimdark atmosphere of the Warhammer universe. With two playable characters, satisfying combat, varied enemies, and significantly improved level design, it's a worthy sequel that builds on the strengths of the original. While its repetitive gameplay, short length, limited replayability, and underwhelming secrets hold it back, Boltgun 2 remains an incredibly entertaining experience for Warhammer fans and retro FPS enthusiasts alike.

In a market flooded with overly complicated shooters, Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun 2 proves that simplicity is often best: a massive enemy horde, a devastating arsenal, and pure freedom. Auroch Digital doesn't reinvent the wheel, but cleverly refines its predecessor with a bigger campaign, a second playable protagonist, and smoother navigation. While it lacks narrative depth or radical innovation, it delivers rich, old-school boomer shooter fun. After decades of blasting monsters, I’ll take mindless digital carnage over complex plots any day. The Emperor protects, the bolter thunders, and I'm ready for some overtime.
