One of the other joys of Little Nightmares is Tarsier did a great job of instilling a sense of dread and foreboding throughout the game without really employing a lot of the standard horror tropes. There’s no real gore in the game and precious few jump scares; instead, there are environments disturbingly covered in what appears to be blood, creatures which have apparently killed themselves, some extremely creepy monsters to avoid, and a brilliant soundscape.

Setting aside its short length and awkward controls, Little Nightmares is a brilliant and memorable game that that deserves to be played by horror and platformer fans.

Little Nightmares is an awesome platforming videogame with an horrifying background and an outstanding atmosphere. A great experience with an interesting Tim Burton's aftertaste.

While not actually frightening, its otherworldly characters are well conceptualized, and they’re each ugly and punishing enough to make gameplay interesting.

When talking about gameplay, it's impossible not to compare Little Nightmares to Limbo or Inside. Although similar in that, this platform and horror game from Tarsier Studios delivers an unique atmosphere, inhabited by creatures that cause some discomfort (which is something good in this context, by the way). Its polished design, allied to a functional and intelligent gameplay, make the game an excellent choice to any gamer that might want a macabre and unconventional experience.

Little Nightmares could use better pacing, perhaps more build-up in the first chapter, but even in its calmer moments it retains your interest with its macabre world and simple yet goosebumps-inducing gameplay. You constantly feel like a crippled gazelle limping around a lion's den. I'm excited to watch others play and panic the way I did.

Tarsier Studios' new puzzle/platformer uses dark whimsy and a sympathetic protagonist to make us ponder the consequences of modern excess

Part Spirited Away and part Tim Burton-style narrative, Little Nightmares serves up an intriguing suspense-horror platformer with great visuals, a nice dose of mystery and a compelling narrative. The game is a bit brief and leans toward the easier side of the difficulty scale. That short experience, however, is definitely sweet and will tickle fans of Limbo, Inside and other games in the genre. All in all, Little Nightmares is a sleeper hit.

Little Nightmares has some minor flaws such as short length, but creepy and scary atmosphere and excellent hide-and-seek gameplay has made it a worthwhile experience.

Little Nightmares feels like a delicious food which leaves a very great taste in your mouth. The only problem of this game is that it’s really short. Little Nightmares is definitely inspired by games like Inside but it has its very own feeling and is one of the best dark platformer games of this generation.

At the end of Little Nightmares, any player will agree on something firm and thats the desire for more content. This means that Little Nightmares is not that Little and in fact, it was totally successful in bringing back childhood nightmares, along with a descent psychological platformer which all along it had its own small problems but nevertheless, Little Nightmares is one the most vital indie games that we've ever had in the current generation

Little Nightmares is a real pearl among many other genres, which, despite its simplicity, gives us unique and sensational emotions; although the hours of play are not many, these are enough to give us unique moments.

Little Nightmares is a powerful project that brings a different kind of narrative. It creates lots of feelings with very few resources and, even though its duration is too short, it brings a very possitive experience.

A twisted fairy tale that dwells in the grotesque and in the macabre, Little Nightmares is a narrative platformer that you will eventually remember for its fascinating atmosphere (and its remarkable graphics and audio design) rather than for its gameplay.

Giving the story a few rounds of proofreading might have inspired the designers to add more obstacles and offered more flexibility to the players. Still, the well-presented aesthetic and emotional impact make Little Nightmares more than worthy of a playthrough.

Little Nightmares is an effective little thriller that provides a breezy four or so hours of gameplay and some of the most intense scares of the year, high praise in a year where Resident Evil VII and Outlast II have also released. This short length might be a bone of contention for some but it ensures that the game is succinct and free from filler and doesn't run the risk of wearing out its welcome.
