Victor Vran: Overkill Edition Reviews
Victor Vran: Overkill Edition, developed by Haemimont Games and published by Wired Productions is an award winning isometric action RPG crawler that lets you take on hordes of demons and clever bosses as you battle through your adventure as Victor Vran.
Diablo-style games aren't all that rare, but the best ones are worth appreciating. Victor Vran is such a game. The slightly uninspiring name belies a huge action-RPG with great combat, clever platforming, and a welcome sense of humor.
Blizzard fans have a terrific opportunity to get accustomed to the style of play on the Switch and will have a fun title to play heading into the fall. For the rest of us, Victor Vran is a terrific option to dip your toes into the genre. The wide range of combat options and the openness that is maintained throughout makes it accessible to a wider range of audience. If you enjoy overpowering dozens of enemies with wanton acts of destruction, you'll have a hell of a good time with Victor Vran.
It’s safe to say that there is a lot included in Victor Vran: Overkill Edition. Whether you’re playing through the story solo or with a friend, there is plenty to keep you occupied. Even if you don’t get around to doing very little thing, there’s well over 50 hours of gameplay here if you're determined to stick around.
Victor Vran is one of the most enjoyable aRPG's I've played in recent times with some A+ additional content for Metal heads thrown in for good measure.
Overall, I think Victor Vran: Overkill Edition is definitely a game worth a play. While the comparisons to Diablo III will obviously be made, Victor Vran adds different mechanics to shake up the tried-and-true ARPG format and does a great job doing so. Adding the ability to play the game on the go means you can keep your loot grind going whenever you have a chance. And come on, who doesn't want to power slide through a bunch of demons?
Separating itself from Diablo in so many ways, Victor Vran is a breath of fresh air in the ARPG genre.
One of the most polished dungeon crawlers in years, Victor Vran is an easy recommendation to anyone with even the slightest fondness for the genre.
It is just as competent as the heavy hitters in the dungeon crawling genre. The online works well, and with four player co-op, it can be a blast to play with friends. I highly suggest Victor Vran to any action RPG fan.
Victor Vran: Overkill Edition is a fantastic dungeon crawler with a lot to offer. It has a ton of content at a great price, and it's fun from start to finish. My only complaint is that the text in the menus is a bit on the small side. Other than that, the game plays flawlessly and is very well polished, with first class voice acting. You're going to spend dozens of hours playing this one and its two expansions if you want to get all trophies. Are you up for the challenge?
While it’s inevitable for Victor Vran to be compared to the series that obviously inspired it presuming that it is merely a clone or some lesser attempt would be a mistake. It may borrow elements, but aside from having great core gameplay it also does some things very differently, and even as someone who had invested hundreds of hours into the Diablo series I appreciate there being a strong competitor out there that has dared to be different. If you’re seeking some challenging and satisfying action RPG gameplay on the Switch, Victor Vran absolutely delivers.
Victor Vran: Overkill Edition is chock full of action RPG goodness that'll delight any genre fan for dozens of hours.
Taking its inspiration from some of the best dungeon crawlers out there, Victor Vran is an immensely fun action-RPG that will keep you playing for hours and hours.
The biggest issue is the fact that the controls don't quite compute when it comes to bringing keyboard to controller.
A surprisingly immediate, console-centric ARPG with a gleefully tactile combat system, Victor Vran: Overkill Edition has its fair share of rough edges and a slightly discordant tone, but is nevertheless a highly entertaining way for Diablo fans to while away the hours until the real deal arrives on Nintendo's console.
Victor Vran is an excellent port of a solid Diablo clone combining solid 60fps (ish) dungeon crawling with some heavily action-oriented demon-slaying gameplay.
In the end, Victor Vran: Overkill Edition is a great action-RPG that is a perfect fit for a platform that has yet to be inundated with them.
The port from PC to PS4 has been absolutely great as far as I can tell and with even more content then the base game for a price of $39.99, it's hard to find a reason not to recommend this game. It has online play, couch co-op, and it offers plenty of playtime. My biggest issues are of the voice work and some areas seemingly bleeding together in visual style. Otherwise Victor Vran complete collection is a great choice and once that fans of the genre def. need to check out.
Victor Vran: Overkill Edition is a game that doesn’t take itself all too seriously, reveling in action that makes you feel like a complete badass.
With the recent news that Diablo III Eternal Collection will release on Nintendo Switch in the coming months, Haemimont Games will have cursed their luck. But, for those wanting to scratch that same itch, this Gothic-themed romp is easily the best alternative on the portable home console. Victor Vran: Overkill Edition comes packed with more than enough content to justify the price of admission, just don’t expect your demon hunting to be an easy ride.
