Nex Machina Reviews
Despite its utterly insane difficulty curve, Nex Machina is a pure joy to play.
Housemarque proved once again that they are great at making arcade shooters. Nex Machina is such a great successor to Resogun that it's hard to put it aside – certainly not before you get all the achievements.

Nex Machina is another fantastic arcade-inspired retro homage from the folks at Housemarque. I think it may be the most stressful of the trio of such releases from the studio so far, but that'll give more hardcore players an added push to get good and improve their scores. Lesser-skilled players, however, may feel even more lost among the madness.
It takes a special type of high-score game for me to want to actually stick with it and start rivalries on the leaderboards. Pac-Man Championship Edition was one such game. Trials HD was another. Now, Nex Machina is my new obsession.
The game may shake some but its difficulty is fair and you will not feel at once that you are wronged. It gives you the character of the classic games that made the arcade games addictive in the past with a mix of weighted mechanics that made it one of the jewels of our time.

Housemarque has another hit on their hands, and Nex Machina is probably their best, smoothest and more varied shooter yet. The mechanics masterfully layer on top of each other world on world to keep the crazy action fresh session after session and the entire game has a colourful 90's joy to it that sucks you in. Online co-op being the one nitpick that could come patched in later, I can only wholehearted recommend Nex Machina as the shooter you pick up this summer.
Nex Machina is a bright and engrossing game with multiple difficulty modes, great weapons and various mechanics and enemies. But it is lacking online co-op and diversity in the presented modes.

Nex Machina is a gem, and one that deserves to be experienced and enjoyed by as many gamers as possible. I highly recommend this to anyone, but especially fans of twin-stick shooters and those that have been following Housemarque for years. This is definitely some of the most pure fun I've had with gaming this year, and that's saying a lot!
Housemarque has broken its own quality barrier with Nex Machina. This pulse-pounding twin-stick arcade shooter is the developer's finest work. Brutal, compelling, enthralling and layered with hidden depths, Nex Machina is awash with retrotastic glory, and serves as the new benchmark for twin-stick shooters.
Between the nonstop action and the overall aesthetics, Nex Machina is the most video game-like title you'll play this year. The overall design can get somewhat repetitive, and the odds are often not the most fair, but those looking for a challenge have found their latest addiction.
Nex Machina is a pure mechanics game, one that pushes you harder and harder to shoot for that high score. People looking for just a campaign will be done after an hour, but everyone else should find plenty of reasons to play.
Nex Machina is yet another classic game from Housemarque and I feel it is the pinnacle of the twin stick shooter that every game that follows it needs to strive to match.
Although Nex Machina lacks online multiplayer, the game's euphoric use of bright neon colors and impressive use of voxels is only surpassed by the tight gameplay mechanics. At its heart, Nex Machina is a modern day arcade shooter, with plenty of secrets and the addicting element that will have you challenging for a higher position on the leaderboards well into the wee hours of the night.
The spirit of Robotron lives again in Housemarque's brilliant and blistering Nex Machina.
With Nex Machina, Housemarque masters the balancing act between retro and modernity thanks to precise controls and impressive effects.

Nex Machina is a great follow-up to Resogun, even if it's a different game. Another masterpiece in the Twin-Stick Shooter genre for Housemarque.

Nex Machina is a brilliant bullet hell shooter that should please fans of the seemingly niche genre. It’s beautiful, fast-paced and incredibly challenging, like any good shooter should be, with local co-op to boot. The game might be too difficult at times, but it’s worth a try for anyone curious about it.
I have to be honest, I was a little surprised at just how good Nex Machina is. I felt like I’d seen everything twin-stick shooters had to offer, and whilst the game doesn’t really invigorate the genre nor does it do anything you wouldn’t have seen before, it just feels so damn good to play. I’ve spent hours with it already and find myself constantly coming back for more. If you’re a fan of twin-stick shooters you really need to give Nex Machina a purchase. If you’re a fan of classic arcade experiences that push your skills to the limit you need to give it a purchase. Hell, if you’re a fan of gaming, just buy Nex Machina – you’re not going to regret it.
