The Evil Within 2 plays out more like an action game than a survival horror. All the elements that it has in place take away from the restrictive close confines of traditional horror games and broadens the spectrum but lessens the atmosphere and impact a survival horror game should have.

The Evil Within 2 is a better game than its predecessor; however, it’s also a less interesting one. The first game was fascinating and yet hard to recommend due to problems with pacing, sloppy storytelling, and plenty of bugs and glitches. The sequel corrects most of those problems and, to use a term I hate, is a far more polished experience as a result. I just wish Tango Gameworks hadn’t abandoned everything special about the original in the process.

While the main narrative can feel off at times, a move to more open-ended areas and sidequests makes sure that The Evil Within 2 remains a chilling, but rewarding experience.

The Evil Within 2 is a solid horror experience but doesn't live up to the expectations after playing the first game. However, it is polished in every single aspect and provides an entertaining plot with some shocker moments. Sadly, Shinji Mikami can't fear me like the last time which was what I hoped for.

The story is very meaty in The Evil Within 2 (no pun intended) which will keep players engaged for a good many hours. It’s not a game with a simple blow through narrative though. It takes time to see it to completion.

The Evil Within 2 offers plenty of variety and freedom within its horror-filled town of Union. Sebastian Castellanos’ second outing is a much more fulfilling affair, filled to the brim with some truly inspired design. In a lot of ways, The Evil Within 2 feels like a spiritual successor to Resident Evil 4, giving us the horror experience that other developers had forgotten for a while. An unrefined stealth system and stiff voice over from the rough-around-the-edges ex-cop do little to diminish this terrifying treat, leaving it on the precipice of being something truly outstanding.

The Evil Within 2 delivers a solid horror performance that suffers a bit because of poorly designed open world spaces. Psycho-Horror Fans and people that like abstract art will still get what they came for but it doesn't feel like an improvement over the first title.

Play it if you dig a spooky atmosphere and don’t play it if you’re tired of “The Cat’s in the Cradle” in video game form

The Evil Within 2 is a solid horror title that has been keeping fans occupied as there are very few of them in the genre.

The Evil Within 2 did something not a lot of games have been able to do -- it won me over after a disappointing start. I went from hating the main character to being fully invested in his journey. At its core, this is a creepy survival horror game with tight gameplay and enough scares to keep you on edge. Unfortunately, while improving some aspects of the original, it has lost a lot of the charm that the first game absolutely nailed in its environments and enemies. Much like its predecessor, a few minor issues have stopped it from being a masterpiece, so I guess we'll just have to settle for a great game.

The Evil Within 2 is a combination of all the other horror games and the first game of this series. The game has managed to stay fresh and it is very stunning. There are a lot of cool mechanics and interesting, but simple, puzzles in the game. The fighting system is well made as well but turning the game into an open world one just doesn't feel right; it wasn't a decent decision. The Evil Within 2 is all about fighting lots of tough enemies with very few weapons. This has made the game a little bit harder and you have to keep an eye on using the stealth mode now but the enemies are still not tough enough to make the game challenging. In total, TEW 2 is an amazing game. If you are still not satisfied with 2017 games this could be the start line for you. The Evil Within 2 can keep you entertained for a little while but if you want to buy the game I suggest that you wait for the first wave of discounts.

The main problem of The Evil Within 2 is that as a horror game, it is not scary enough. but The game tells a great story and its gameplay, music, characterization and other features are good enough to make it an enjoyable game,

The Evil Within 2 took what The Evil Within did and improved it in every way. If you need to scratch the survival horror itch, The Evil Within 2 is an easy sell.

The Evil Within 2 is a good survival horror game for genre fans to sink their teeth into. The story makes more sense this time around, and the atmosphere delivers the right amount of unease, which is what will keep players plugging away to the end. The gameplay has been tweaked to be easier, but it's not to the point where you can go through without much trouble. Despite the presence of a few technical issues, TEW2 looks and sounds great, and it's certainly worth your time, even in this incredibly packed gaming year.

The Evil Within 2 felt to me like a major improvement from the more awkward prequel, particularly on the storyline aspect by including emotional themes and being more coherent overall. The mashup of open-ended exploration, freedom of playstyle, skill tree and weapon crafting/upgrade system in a survival horror game might sound like an unusual combination but is executed surprisingly well in this title.

The Evil Within 2 is definitively better than the original. An already great horror game has been refined and expanded, offering just the right balance between overwhelming oppressiveness and a satisfying fight for survival. It's another love letter to fans of Resident Evil 4.

Superior to the original in almost every department, The Evil Within 2 will still divide opinion with its difficulty. Persevere though, and you'll find a gore-soaked diamond.

The Evil Within 2 is a grand follow up from a studio who has set out to fix the pacing issues with the first game, while offering a bigger, more coherent title that looks better and plays better with the reworked stealth and upgrade mechanics, but without forgetting the parts that made most of the original a solid action horror title.
