The Dishonored saga comes to an elegant, if not entirely satisfying, end with a spin-off adventure that is almost as good as its full price predecessor.
Dishonored: Death of the Outsider frees itself from the franchise's usual restrictions, while putting its usual tools to satisfying use. Buy it.
If this truly is is the concluding chapter in the series, Dishonored exits with a fitting goodbye. Death of the Outsider takes a syringe to the magic formula, siphons up the good bits and leaves any and all excess behind.
Death of the Outsider's story never lives up to its promise, but strong mechanics, good gameplay, and a fascinating world pull it through.

Death of the Outsider is smaller, more focused standalone expansion that eschews some of the series' superfluous mainstays to deliver a core, action-stealth experience. If this is the end for Dishonored, then it's gone out in style.
Dishonored: Death of the Outsider is a worthy addition to the Dishonored franchise. It doesn't eclipse any of the core games, but it's well worth your time and money if you're a fan of the series.
Dishonored: Death of the Outsider faced a difficult task — to tie loose ends, and bring the Kaldwin era of the franchise to an end. Unfortunately, this high-profile target slipped away from it, but this standalone expansion is a good Dishonored experience nonetheless. Although a little shorter and shallower than you might expect.
