It's hard to find anything wrong with SteamWorld Dig 2 or to even suggest anywhere it could do better. This is an absolute masterclass in game design that is absurdly fun and addictive. It constantly keeps players on their toes by regularly introducing new mechanics that totally change up the experience. The developer has polished every aspect of this to sheer perfection and delivered an experience that will make hours vanish. Regardless of platform, this is a game that deserves to be played by everyone.
Steamworld Dig 2 is a wonderful addition to the Nintendo 3DS library, especially as the heavy focus of Nintendo's future focuses on the Switch handheld-console hybrid.
Steamworld Dig 2 is not an ordinary sequel – it is a completely new quality, drawing from both its predecessor and the Metroidvatoria genre all the best.

SteamWorld Dig 2 has absolutely fantastic gameplay that builds on well onto the already strong gameplay of the original. Unless you dislike platformers, you should put this game onto your radar.
And, after the credits roll once you reach the cataclysmic conclusion to SteamWorld Dig 2 it is worth taking a moment to look back at the map. Where SteamWorld Dig had really only let the player dig downwards, the network of makeshift tunnels that you carve out in the sequel are a reflection of the personal journey that you have taken. And that freedom, above all else, can be seen as the game’s greatest success.
If you hate fun you probably won't like Steamworld Dig 2.

Image & Form have continued to impress with their output on Nintendo's newest toy as of late, however, it's nice to see the developer hasn't forgotten its handheld roots either. SteamWorld Dig 2 on 3DS is a great version of the excellent sequel making it an ideal alternative for those that have yet to take the plunge on a Nintendo Switch.
SteamWorld Dig 2 is a definite upgrade from its predecessor, if you haven’t played the original, don’t let it steer you away from wanting to help Dorothy on her adventure. It’s an entertaining indie game that will keep players digging for a long time.
Action, exploration, platforming, beautiful visuals... SteamWorld Dig 2 improves everything from the original game, adding some metroidvania elements, and making it one of the best indies for the Nintendo Switch.

Steamworld Dig 2 is a great sequel. Everything from its predecessor has been improved making the experience funnier and even more adictive. SteamWorld Dig 2 retains the original's addictive resource-gathering gameplay, but supplements it with a gorgeously detailed, handcrafted world. Its heady mix of exploration, combat, platforming, and puzzle solving, alongside an expansive set of abilities and mods gives it plenty of variety and a great gameplay rhythm. I wish there was more to do once the campaign ends, but that's a testament to the fact that what is here is just about pitch perfect.
SteamWorld Dig 2 resumes the predecessor's success formula, expands it and makes it mature, especially in level design. In a nutshell, a great game.

Whether you're a fan or not, you'll probably dig a lot SteamWorld Dig 2 (all puns intended). Full of challenges and hidden treasures to find, there's a lot more to do than the first game, which will last you for a decent 20 hours or more.
