If you're a racing fan looking for something a little bit different (and a little bit violent/smashy) then Burnout Paradise Remastered is a good shout.

It didn't take much to fall back in love with Paradise's care-free attitude, an open invitation to embrace my inner speed demon

In certain respects, Burnout Paradise aged pretty well: under the revamped visuals and the smooth frame rate, this remastered version keeps the original gameplay unaltered, and that means sheer, chaotic fun and adrenaline-pumping races across Paradise City. Sure, some gameplay elements feel a little older today (where's the fast travel?), but honestly, who cares when you're having so much fun?

Look, it's really simple, Burnout Paradise Remastered is essential for fans of racing games everywhere. They just don't make them like this anymore (but they really, really should).

On the title's tenth anniversary, Burnout Paradise Remastered is a timely reminder that – like Avril Lavigne – this arcade racer can still do it better than all of its contemporaries. Seriously, there's no other like it, so when's it going to sink in? The only real downside is that the pricing's stupid – what the hell is EA thinkin'?

Burnout Paradise Remastered is like a finely-tuned vintage car – sure, it's quirky and a bit archaic, but those concerns melt away once you get behind the wheel and rev that engine. Blasting around Paradise City is exciting, rewarding, and a great low-stress tonic for when modern game design gets you down. Oh, you'll be pleased to take this one home.

Burnout Paradise Remastered brings a strong open-world racing playground to Switch. The smart port job means that you can play the game on Switch without any notable technical compromise. The repetitive design might be a bother for some, but the open world’s pick-up-and-play nature is so perfect on a portable system that it’s hard to get annoyed.

Overall, Burnout Paradise is a great experience and a very fine addition to the racing game scene on the Nintendo Switch. It’s a solid choice for those looking for a change from the Mario Kart like sphere and it’s a game I highly recommend you try.

Even after all this time, Burnout Paradise remains an absolute blast to play. The upgrade to 60fps in Remastered only heightens the adrenaline rush, and the game’s emphasis on exploration and quick-fire racing make it a brilliant fit for being taken on the go.

Elements of Burnout Paradise are starting to show their age now, but nobody can argue with the quality of its actual racing action. If you can put up with its various niggles and quirks and don't mind the astronomical price (relative to other systems), it's easily one of the most entertaining – and certainly one of the fastest – racing games on the Switch.

With a successful artistic design coupled with the fun of its excellent arcade playability make it very appealing. However, to be great it lacks charisma, because graphically it doesn't impress outside of Xbox One X, and it doesn't bring enough new features.

Burnout Paradise Remastred is a lazy portage of his illustrious elder. If we are happy to have the most complete version here, we can only regret that there has not been some modifications the ergonomics of the title. At this price we have the most beautiful and the most complete version of a game that has 10 years of age on its gameplay (wich is excellent, as we already know).

Wild, adequately beautiful and a reminder of what a real need for speed truly feels like. Burnout Paradise Remastered may not be essential for anyone who has already spent many an afternoon committing its many and shortcuts streets to memory, but as an example of how racing games can fuse euphoria and momentum into one packed package of V8 action? It's the original benchmark that hasn't a single ounce of torque.

Burnout Paradise Remastered is a breath of fresh air for the racing genre. It takes the realistic aspects of racing and throws them out the window with fast and furious driving that feels great. The sense of speed achieved as you zip through the streets of Paradise City listening to Soundgarden's ‘Rusty Cage' is truly astounding. It's both frantic and fun. There are some frustrating moments and the visual upgrade isn't as big of a leap as I would like, but there is still a lot to enjoy. After finishing a few events, you'll wonder why the franchise has been gone for so long.

Players who ran through the game on PlayStation 3 or elsewhere will be put off by the lack of meaningful upgrades, and that's entirely understandable. The problem is that nothing here really adds to what already existed. The saving grace is that things haven't gone the other way, either. Burnout Paradise holds up, and if nothing else, you can now experience one of the top arcade franchises in the business on your PlayStation 4.

Without flourishes, but with full throttle. Burnout Paradise is also in the remastered version an arcade racer straight out of the picture book.

It may not be the ground-up remake that other modern classics have been treated to, and you will likely be left disappointed at the minor overhaul the visuals have been given, but this is still a superb open-world racing game that feels like it'll be loved by fans of the original as well as new players jumping in for the very first time. It may sound cliched, but they simply don't make them like this any more.

Despite its lack of "remastered" features for this version, Burnout Paradise is a great game with a lot of content that can't hide its 10 years-story, but you can still have fun with.
