There are some elements around the edges that haven't aged all that well, but Burnout Paradise is still a fantastic racing game.

Ultimately, Burnout Paradise Remastered on Switch is a solid racing experience that offers a unique take on the arcade racer, where the player is encouraged to take down the opposition by any means necessary. There’s plenty of content to keep players busy for tens of hours in solo play, and a substantial online experience to master.

Burnout Paradise Remastered isn't really worth grabbing if you already have the original. Hell, said original is even backward compatible on the Xbox One right now. Without any prior experience though I would absolutely give Paradise City a spin -- even with its faults, it's still one of the most memorable and mild open worlds in existence.

Mileage may vary: Burnout nuts will be desperate for a return to Paradise City and will enjoy every minute of it. Those new to the series (and lapsed vets) may want to turn their attention elsewhere.

Burnout Paradise for the Nintendo Switch is a great port of a fantastic game, it's just a shame how expensive it is. I can only hope that the popularity of these recent ports encourages Criterion and EA to finally commit to a full new entry in the series, or at the very least, a Burnout 3: Takedown remake!

The remastered "open-world-arcade-driving-classic" is as fun as the original version... but it seems that team behind this new version had been working with the foot off the pedal. Even with better textures, it's hard to not remember the achievements of the original (60 fps, great graphics...), making the remaster even more "just fine".

Burnout Paradise comes to the current console generation to deliver one of the best arcade driving experiences. This remastered version does not translate in a huge difference, but this game still is a sure bet, even 10 years after its release.

It may a look a little basic compared to recent titles, but when it comes to gameplay Burnout Paradise still thrashes the competition. The racing is sublime, the stunts are spectacular, and there's always something to do round the next corner. It has one of the best soundtracks of any game – and yes that includes Avril – it's just a shame that some of the mechanics are dated and clunky.

The essence of Burnout Paradise is still intact in its remastered version for the Nintendo Switch, from the positive points such as the fun of doing a takedown, to the negative ones such as the looped repetition of the Guns N 'Roses song.

The sense of speed is akin to watching Bruce Lee flail his nunchucks about while high on amphetamines.

An excellent open world racing game that is still as fun as it was 10 years ago... despite there's only a few improvements to the original formula in terms of gameplay, visuals or sound.

Ten years on, this is still one of the best arcade racers out there. Hours will be lost just flying around the map being a nuisance, and a few old fashioned decisions won't dampen the excitement from playing a game this fast and furious.

Burnout Paradise Remastered for the Nintendo Switch comes with its fair share of issues. You'll experience a lot of blurriness playing it handheld, and might struggle making out what's what at high speeds even when playing it docked. Plus, there's that big $50 price tag for a 2008 game. Yet, included in the remaster is eight of the nine premium DLC, which comes with nearly all the vehicles unlocked, as well as one of the best racing soundtracks to ever exist.

As a port, Burnout Paradise Remastered is no Forza but it looks crisp on the Switch, delivering 720p in handheld mode, 900p docked and crucially, a consistent 60 FPS. For the price, you get the entire game along with the DLC including Big Surf Island, an extra urban environment to check out.

Despite showing its age in occasional places, the purity and simplicity of Burnout's arcade racing is as refreshing now as it was when the title was first released.

The game manages to be more relevant today than 10 years ago. It's really fun, and we are glad to be back in Paradise City again! Can't wait to see what happens next in the series.

There is nothing quite like Burnout Paradise and I hope the series makes a full return with a proper sequel in the near future.
