Robotic colonists are so cute and as funny as the first games in The Settlers series.

If you play society building games and find yourself perfecting your city, you will likely enjoy The Colonist and appreciate ability to track every element of productivity. However, the game could have a greater potential on a mobile device, and as a player, I would have been more invested if there were a bit more customization options or stakes to my success.
The Colonists is an attempt at management. Repetition takes its toll after a few hours of play, and the lack of free mode is worrying. However, the as a campaign provides enough fun to consider buying.

The game is very easy to get sucked into but it lacks a lot of depth after a few hours of play. In my opinion, it is better to play the campaign than the sandbox mode because there are no objectives to complete in it.
These little robots, although not perfect, found a way into my heart. With the developers actively listening to their fans, if The Colonists grabs your interest in any way, jump on it. You won't go wrong!
The Colonists is cute and with a stronger campaign, it could have been so much better. Sadly repetitive tasks and some finicky management means that some levels feel more like a chore than a challenge as your robots fumble over themselves.
Decide what you value 5-10 hours of fun at, and then spend that.
