While the 3DS title may have received mixed reception, Luigi's Mansion 3 is a wonderful return to form from the first title that does the series justice.

Luigi's Mansion 3 doesn't get the series where it needs to be, but it certainly moves it closer to that goal.

Fun for everyone, Luigi's Mansion 3 delights with its themed bosses and exploration. It's a slow burn though, and not everyone will appreciate it's pacing.

Luigi's Mansion 3 is not only a graphical powerhouse and showcase for Next Level Games' unrivalled mastery of video game animation, it's also an immense helping of spooky fun as well. The amount of care and consideration poured into every facet of the game is abundantly clear, and it all results in one of the most enjoyable and attractive Switch titles of the year. It's also the undisputed high point of a franchise which – following this sterling release – will hopefully get even more love and attention from Nintendo fandom, and the gaming community as a whole.

Luigi's Mansion 3 is a beautifully animated adventure with satisfying puzzles and gadgets; it suffers slightly for its length, but a deep well of charm and humour win the day.

Once you check in, you won't want to check out. Luigi's Mansion 3 is a vibrant interactive CGI movie, beautifully-designed brainteaser, and top-notch action game, all rolled into one. The game isn't perfect, but its frustrating moments are brief and don't tarnish the experience as a whole. Luigi's Mansion 3 stands shoulder to shoulder with Switch must-haves like Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Super Mario Odyssey – it's scary good.

In a year of stunning Switch games, Luigi's Mansion 3's puzzles and charm more than stack up alongside the incredible Fire Emblem: Three Houses and Link's Awakening. We're so glad the franchise is back, and it's made the jump to HD with style - who knew tidying up could be this fun?

Luigi's Mansion 3 is a great continuation of the cult game with fascinating puzzles, interesting bosses and very beautiful levels, which lacks a more interconnected world. However, it is all better than the second game, so if you like Dark Moon or you love the adventure genre, then you can buy a triquel without hesitation.

Luigi’s Mansion 3 is a slick reminder that Luigi remains Nintendo’s most wasted asset (sorry Waluigi fans), and he and the ghosts are as charming and characterful as anything in a mainline Mario game.

Luigi's Mansion 3 is the perfect example of the Nintendo way of making games. It comes six years after the last chapter, it doesn't revolutionize the core concepts, but it introduces just the perfect amount of new features to feel fresh. However, the most important thing is that it's funny, damn funny, like watching a Ghostbusters VHS every Sunday morning in your childhood.

Scoring this game for me is a struggle. The core design structure, the aesthetic presentation, and the basic game feel are all excellent. Yet I hated Luigi’s Mansion 3 so acutely that I could not complete the game. There was no single puzzle that outwit me in the end. Instead, that rising sense of terrible dread just became too much. I wasn’t even that far from finishing the game! I just couldn’t grapple with the knowledge that all my suffering was a prelude to something worse.

Luigi's Mansion 3 is a nice spooky treat for your Switch. Anyone who loved the original will love this one too, and the game is easily welcoming enough to rope some newcomers into the franchise as well. How could anyone find issue with a game whose menu screen is a Virtual Boy? Ah, Nintendo. You know how to laugh at yourself.
