Virgo Versus the Zodiac is clearly inspired by other titles like the Mario RPGs and Undertale but its unique humor and stellar writing help it stand apart. This is a fresh RPG that is incredibly fun from start to finish. While not quite at the level of Undertale, this is not a game to miss if you love unique RPGs.

While technical issues can hinder the experience, they don't eclipse the overall brilliance of the turn-based RPG, Virgo Versus the Zodiac. With some patches to address glitches and the addition of an auto-save feature, this game could reach even greater heights.

Virgo Versus the Zodiac tells a compelling story with tight, fast-paced combat and presents it in a wonderfully unusual and emotional package.

With some stand-out moments peppered throughout, Virgo Versus The Zodiac was an engrossing play from start to end. Some basic and convoluted combat mechanics hold this game back from being a true homerun but the charm of Virgo's journey carries it through these rough moments.

Despite those issues, though, Virgo Vs The Zodiac is still a solid experience, and a great JRPG that just popped up out of nowhere at the end of the year. If you’re looking for something to play through during the holidays, this is a title definitely worth considering.

Virgo Versus the Zodiac is an adorably charming rampage across the galaxy. A memorable main heroine worth making that emotional investment in, an impressive transformation of traditional game mechanics into the unique, and an aesthetic style all its own, Virgo Versus the Zodiac delivers an unforgettable experience. A single playthrough will take about 20 hours and provide plenty of reasons to replay well beyond. A hidden gem, this star yet shines dazzlingly bright.

Virgo Versus The Zodiac’s combat can feel a little repetitive in places, but the quirky narrative and creative presentation ensure it’s still good fun to play. I was a big fan of the storytelling and it was always a treat to explore the world, whilst there were plenty of silly little situations to find yourself in that keep the adventure strange (and I mean that in a good way).

Virgo is a fascinating character, navigating a big, bizarre world. Everyone you meet adds to the weird and wonderful flavor of things. The combat is engaging and unique, the premise is compelling, and the presentation is slick. On the other hand, it’s real easy to get lost. And without a rigorous saving routine, you might end up losing progress once in a while. But events you replay might not play out the same way, which is cool. I wasn’t sure what to expect with this game, but I ended up pleasantly surprised. If you’re looking for a new and unusual RPG, definitely check out Virgo Versus The Zodiac.

Virgo Vs The Zodiac is quite unique, and for the most part is better for it. Personally, I don't see how a game that lets you ride an alpaca and purge heretics could've gone wrong. But the combat and systems don't shake up much over time.

It’s not the most coherent story, but there’s a fascinating tale beneath the surface. Players with ambition will be rewarded for multiple playthroughs, although it’ll take plenty of patience and the versatility to see all the different outcomes.

Virgo Versus The Zodiac does a fantastic job of creating a world run by the western zodiac signs filled with their personalities, experiences, and dreams. It has gorgeous visuals with phenomenal music (seriously, that soundtrack SLAPS) and tongue-in-cheek writing with moments of seriousness befitting the story. While I wish the combat had been deeper or had more variety, it didn’t stop me from enjoying this nod to classic turn-based RPGs at all. If you’re ready to undertake the holiest of quests and usher in the Golden Age, Virgo Versus The Zodiac demands you take up arms and smite those who would stand in your way.

While Virgo Versus The Zodiac does have its moments, it loses steam the longer you play. The inconsistent tone gets in the way of any serious storytelling, and an initially engaging combat system ends up being underutilised. It's still something worth checking out if you're looking for a shorter RPG with some unique ideas, as long as you can put up with its shortcomings.

Considering the game’s emphasis on flexible character development and multiple endings, the necessity to start from scratch each time poses a significant inconvenience. This results in rendering the pursuit of alternate endings an intense burden and not worth the time and effort.
