Gears Tactics Reviews
Gears Tactics feels like a natural step for the franchise, and the best game since The Coalition has been given control over the series.

From the rushing melee-based Creepers to exploding Tickers to enemy snipers that can pin one of your squad members into place, there’s diversity in how each firefight plays out.
Staying true to the franchise, your Gears are brutal killing machines who live in a soap opera. We'll add that it's also rare to find a tactics game which makes you feel powerful but vulnerable at the same time, and that's worth a lot.
Gears Tactics is the best Gears of War game since the original trilogy came to a close.
Gears Tactics takes the intense third-person action of the console game into the realm of PC-centric turn-based tactical strategy.
Gears Tactics kept me entertained for the full 30 or so hours it took me to finish the campaign. Hopefully, the developers take the issues I and many others have brought up to heart, and deliver an excellent sequel a few years down the road.
There's a lot to love here about Gears Tactics, and it somehow manages to almost flawlessly blend the genre of one game with another one's universe and characters with great execution. Yes, there are some issues, and they can be quite annoying, but in the end these won't detract you from the sheer amount of enjoyment you will experience. It's not perfect, but it's damn good, surprisingly good. Now give me more, please.
Unexpectedly, Gears Tactics is quite a competent and enjoyable tactical strategy game. The roots of what make a good tactics game are embedded in the DNA, combat is fun and yet somewhat familiar. However, Gears Tactics falls into the trap of laying down a great foundation with awesome mechanics but it does feel that the few creative ideas showcased begin to feel repetitive after the thirty plus hour campaign. That isn't to say that Gears Tactics is devoid of ideas either, Gears fans will be impressed with how the title pushes forward the narrative and newcomers will also be left in awe at how good the characterisation and cutscenes are, which are just as good as Gears 5, from a graphical and presentation standpoint. This is a great foundation into what should become a great spin-off series, should it continue.
Gears Tactics is pure Gears but exploring new horizons in terms of gameplay. The strategy suits the Gears saga great and Gabe Díaz is a most interesting character who brings us a history of Gears in the old way.

Gears Tactics is the perfect mix for me. Great universe and great gameplay. It may still be a little better, but it's already a MUST for many... While there are still a few things you can improve.

Gears Tactics shows that the series has great potential in other styles if implemented properly.

Gears Tactics does a fantastic job at applying the X-COM formula to the Gears of War franchise despite it not changing much from the core gameplay. While the intrusiveness of side missions and some weak ability progression take away from the overall experience, Gears Tactics is a must-play for Gears fans and turned-based shooter fans alike.
This title can be regarded as a huge success for a spin-off, and is quite enjoyable. However, its side missions have caused it to fall short of achieving masterpiece status. Regardless, this game is recommended to all fans of the series

Although Gears Tactics is heavily inspired by XCOM and its mechanisms, it's still a great Tactical Turn Based Strategy that also remains loyal to the Gears of War universe.

Gears Tactics is a successful experiment for both Gears franchise and Splash Damage. But there is much more potential than the game shows us.

Everything about Gears Tactics screams quality, and it's easily one of the best debut titles this genre has seen in years. It's nearly time for X-COM to step aside – this genre just went up a Gear.
Maybe some missions felt repetitive and the overall structure felt linear without branching options to advance, but the combat in Gears Tactics is amazing and it can even rival the amazing XCom.

Gears Tactics is a solid turn-based strategy game that has something for genre veterans and newcomers alike.
Gears Tactics is a worthwhile spinoff that does a great job of integrating key franchise elements into a different genre. The story is shallow and the missions get quite repetitive, but fans of turn based tactics should get some gory fun out of this one.
