Maneater is basically Feeding Frenzy on steroids, it’s just an awesome gnarly and fun time.

MANEATER was huge fun and I really loved all the RPG elements and exploring the world despite the very repetitive nature of the regional activities. It really is just satisfying to be a massive Shark taking on the world of land and sea and the story is both amusing and very well told with some great voice acting that gives this game a lot of credibility. This is a game to definitely sink your teeth into whilst you maybe waiting for some of the bigger name games to come out this year and it will surprise you just how good it is.

Maneater is a game that could have been good but was too obsessed with forcing players to interact with its low points to make its high points shine.

I truly enjoyed Maneater despite it’s limitations and performance issues. In my head I would have preferred a more realistic simulation, but in practice that would have probably been boring after an hour or so. It is definitely one of the most unique games of 2020 so far and an experience I will remember fondly.

Maneater is just the type of game a shark enthusiast, such as myself, has been waiting for. The sharks get their revenge on humans and other predators as it grows. The combat and swimming systems work very well, and mix well with the blood and gore that gives a realistic feel to the title. I loved most aspects of the game and the story and will enjoy playing it through to completion to reach the ultimate evolution. For $39.99 USD this is a very beautiful game about sharks and while some areas may lack fullness it is worth that price.

Maneater is a game of many of many shortcomings; terrible loading screens, frightening cinematics cuts and a myriad of technical difficulties. However, the game is also extremely fun if you can overlook some of its problems.

Maneater is very fun to play, but there is no denying that the developers failed to break from repetitiveness. It feels exciting to play as a revenge-seeking shark, but there is also a lot of wasted potential that could have made Maneater a much better game.

A simplistic and repetitive, but appreciably cathartic shark-em-up that would be the perfect weekend blast if it wasn't so frustratingly undercooked

Maneater is enjoyable at best. It’s the kind of game that doesn’t require a lot of thinking and just lets you enjoy as a shark along with the hilarious know-it-all-of-shark narrator. So here are the things you need to know to enjoy Maneater: turn off your brain, do not be picky with your food, and just evolve into the Mega Shark.

With its unique premise and a great sense of humor, Maneater’s 12-hour campaign is a fun feeding frenzy while it lasts. However, the game’s occasionally repetitive quests, coupled with its spotty performance, make it feel more like a quick and dirty trip to Long John Silver’s than a bountiful seafood feast for starving RPG fans. Still, if these issues aren’t enough to keep you from wanting to take the plunge, then you might just enjoy sinking your teeth into Maneater.

Maneater doesn't take itself too seriously which is what a game like this requires as it adds to the fun and whilst not a massive game, it can be completed in under 30 hours without rushing through. I feel that it would have been repetitive too if it was a longer game and as such, I think its worth getting especially with the lack of new AAA titles that have been released so far this year as these would have caused many people to overlook this title.

I was hooked from start to finish, as this over-the-top shark simulator is incredibly well rounded and feature-packed. There is nothing fishy about its shameless violence and savage humour, its polished to perfection. Trust your gut feeling and dive into this headfirst for the definitive apex predator experience!

Maneater is a fantastic central concept around which an intermittently enjoyable game has been built. It might not be a classic, but it'll be hard to forget, and that's the kind of game that typically seems better as time goes by. Expect to see this absurd bit of bloody, barbaric business pop up on lists of cult favorites for years to come, and deservedly so.

A shark RPG sounds like an unlikely idea for a video game and unfortunately the end result is even less entertaining, and far more repetitive, than you might imagine.

Maneater was a real genuine surprise for me. I guess it kind of leans into that long debated scientific anecdote – that we might know more about space than we do our own shores. It seems baffling, perhaps improbable, but Maneater is a game I had no knowledge of, yet it’s a title I’m grateful I’ve spent time exploring and playing. Plus it feels good playing as a shark for once. Sharks are amazing creatures, even if this game proves they’re also incredibly scary!

Maneater is a bloody good time filled with great comedic pieces and tons of marine and human life to tear through but is a bit too repetitive for its own good.

Maneater delivers on the promise of an open world game featuring a revenge-fueled shark but its shortcomings are not to be overlooked.

Maneater, in my opinion, is one of the surprise video game hits of 2020. While the mission variety runs out quick, I somehow never got tired of just swimming around and munching on things. Using the nutrients from doing that to upgrade my shark in new ways was addictive and going back to newly opened up areas was enjoyable.
