The agressive monetisation in Battlegrounds goes a long way to undermine an otherwise fun and thoroughly entertaining brawler

Simple and fun, WWE 2K Battlegrounds is an enjoyable experience for wrestling fans and rehabilitates a bit of the awful image that the series has because of the previous game, being a good distraction to play with friends either locally or online.

Smashing somebody! That's what i am here for. WWE 2K Battlegrounds is a cute and wild game, but has some problems could be solved.

A simple but enjoyable party game that's very easy to pick up and play with friends – and a considerably better video game than last year's WWE 2K20.

Over-the-top action, ridiculous animations and attacks, and a cartoony reimagining of your favorite superstars aside, WWE 2K Battlegrounds is hampered by its lackluster class-based movesets, as well as a system that requires you to grind for a vast majority of superstars that still need to be unlocked. With limited customization options and game modes, it's best played in short bursts, and you'll hardly feel engaged from a single-player standpoint.

Despite some serious drawbacks, WWE 2K Battlegrounds is the first exciting game licensed by WWE in over a decade.

WWE 2K Battlegrounds feels like a missed opportunity at the best of times. What could have been a mad breath of fresh air until WWE 2K22 comes along, is instead a boring grind that's all style and no real substance. Invasive microtransactions tarnish the few remaining bright spots of this game, barely allowing it be okayfabe.

WWE 2K Battlegrounds is for those looking for an enjoyable multiplayer experience but are also very patient with the characters unlocking system and don't mind the lack of value in its content.

WWE 2K Battlegrounds tries to reach a new audience with a refreshing new direction for the series after the last year's disaster. However, locking a lot of its contents behind micro-transactions along with some other issues damaged the overall experience

If it was a fair priced arcade game, it would have a chance. With it's full price and micro-transactions, it doesn't seem possible.

With plenty of different ways to play the game and a huge focus placed on both offline and online multiplayer, Saber Interactive has created a fun over-the-top wrestling game with all your favourite stars from the current roster and the hall of fame.

WWE 2K Battlegrounds turned out to be a major letdown. There was a lot of outcry over WWE 2K20 because of the multiple glitches and the fact that the game felt unfinished. There was hope that WWE 2K Battlegrounds would be a new addition to the series that would add something novel but it was just a step in the wrong direction.

While WWE 2K Battlegrounds attempts to campaign itself for everyone, it unfortunately relies on a wealthy wallet within an unprecedented climate.

Much like professional wrestling on TV, if you take it too seriously, you’ll end up disappointed.

While WWE 2K21 was canceled for this year, I found WWE 2K BATTLEGROUNDS to be a solid replacement. While they are not facsimiles to one another, it fills the gap nicely. I think there’s valid concerns with the microtransactions, but for the most part isn’t egregious or tacky. The game’s biggest modes are chock full of content for hours of entertainment, and even the remainder of the modes are fun to play with its stylized visuals. The longevity will lie in its multiplayer modes, and crossplay deepens the player pool. WWE 2K BATTLEGROUNDS is an ultracompetent brawler that doesn’t try to be more than it is, which is a really entertaining take on wrestling.

We got another production from the 2K stable, in which a good job of the developer was crippled by accountants hungry for every penny.

WWE 2K Battlegrounds came to correct the disastrous route that the wrestling series had been following. In a way, it does this, but when it returns to the right path, it ends up encountering a lot of problems and ends up being knocked out.

Hitting finishing moves, climbing up the top of a cage, and hitting your opponent with a motorcycle is fun and WWE 2K Battlegrounds lets you do that, but the overabundance of microtransactions from cosmetics to unlocking wrestlers is made worst by its lack of depth in combat. If I was the great wrestling analyst Dave Meltzer, I’d give this match only 2.5 stars out of 5.

WWE Battlegrounds is not a bad game at its core. The combat is over-the-top, campy, and fun, and it achieves its ability to be satisfying by at least capturing the feel for the roster within overall.

WWE 2K Battlegrounds is really fun at the beginning, but it flattens out quite fast. The grind is potentially fierce and the bugs are getting on my nerves. What disturbed me most in the gameplay are the much too heavy counters and the exploiting of the taunts. The second big point of criticism is the constant pushing of buying opportunities using real money. This might be justifiable for an F2P title, but I find it almost impertinent to be so aggressive.
