"Crash Bandicoot 4: It's About Time" proves in the test to be a crazy 2.5D platformer, which is in no way inferior to its predecessors. So friends of the game series can once again look forward to a fast-paced gaming experience, bizarre boss opponents and the right pinch of humor. However, even the most hardened pros will be challenged enormously and will have to have a lot of patience, especially on the high difficulty level. If you want to experience the nostalgic flair of a timeless classic and are prepared to make a few technical cutbacks, "Crash Bandicoot 4: It's About Time" is not to be missed.

The cheeky name Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time couldn’t be more aptly named based on the story of the game. The game takes place after the events of Crash Bandicoot: Warped. Series villains Neo Cortex and Nefarious Tropy have discovered how to create rifts in time and space. It is not long before Crash and his sister Coco find out and go out on an adventure to stop the duo before they destroy the history of the world!

Crash Bandicoot 4: It's About Time is a wonderfully crafted game. The love developer Toys for Bob has poured into the title is evident and makes the game all the more appealing. It's accessible enough to pick up and play by anyone, but also provides a hardcore enough challenge for those diehard fans of platformers and the series.

Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time feels like the perfect continuation of the series – almost as if it never went on hiatus or took less-than-stellar detours after the PS1 era. As a longtime fan, I am glad that Activision has revived this beloved franchise.

Toys for Bob has succeeded in creating a game by preserving the spirit of the Crash Bandicoot series. Despite some levels difficulty feels unbalanced, it's a great platform game.

Crash Bandicoot 4 is a true return to form. It's essentially the modern version of a 90s 3D platforming genre that still retains its challenge & freshness.

Gameplay hasn’t changed much, but it doesn’t mean that Crash 4 doesn’t have anything fresh to offer. On the contrary. Several new mechanics introduced by Toys For Bob make the game even more satisfying than its previous installments.

Crash Bandicoot 4: It's About Time is a great game. Although its difficulty can be frustrating and some lengthy sequences are tedious, the world design is crisp and filled with humour, the levels overflow with creativity and most importantly, completing a level is satisfying. The plot is thin, but the cartoony vibes provoke a great mix of nostalgia and charm. The PlayStation 5 upgrade significantly improves load times and takes the game's visuals to another level. Crash fans have much to love in this long-awaited sequel. Although newcomers to the series may be turned off by how punishing the game can be, this title is an adventure worth embarking on.

Crash Bandicoot 4: It's About Time carries the torch for the series, providing a worthy follow-up to Crash and Coco's adventures. The trial and error gameplay isn't for everyone, but those eager for a challenge will enjoy doing so with the next-gen prowess of the PlayStation 5.

However, the game is a lot of fun, featuring a lot of variety on every level. Also, it breathes a very pleasant and, in some places, a humorous atmosphere, which always keeps you on your toes. Unfortunately, the difficulty will turn away many potential players, and that's a shame because the developers put a tremendous amount of detail and love into this game. Crash Bandicoot 4: It's About Time is not a perfect game by far, it is not revolutionary in any way, but it remains true to its platformer legacy.

Ultimately, Crash Bandicoot 4: It's About Time had a lot riding on it. Being the sequel to a 22-year-old game likely presented Toys for Bob with some developmental challenges, but the development team nailed nearly everything about this sequel.

Crash Bandicoot 4: It's About Time is clearly chopped down and squeezed into portable form, but where sacrifices in framerate, draw distance, pop-in, LOD and resolution have been made they're relatively minor and entirely forgivable in the overall collect-a-thon fun-fest you're able to play on your TV and on the move!

Replay value is high if you have the guts and stamina to earn almost 30 skins, and to acquire all the relics. It’s About Time might run a bit steep for what is effectively a meaty PlayStation 1 game with Pixar graphics, but this is the core ethos of Crash Bandicoot. If you enjoyed the N. Sane Trilogy, you will adore this.

Overall, the people at Toys for Bob have done a wonderful job with the property, and that’s not really surprising. Their past games like Skylanders have tapped into the same lighthearted fun that Crash is known for. They demonstrated an ability to make likable characters in those titles and now they’ve taken a franchise full of likable characters and made them even more likable.
