Hitman III is a well-constructed assassination sandbox with incredible maps, deep customisation, and some funky outfits.

Hitman 3 is another one of those in the best way possible. It wraps up the World of Assassination trilogy nicely by keeping to what makes the series great while also diving deeper into the story. Now is the best time to visit or revisit this trilogy, and the future is bright for IO Interactive.

Hitman 3’s heavy focus on story might be a turn off for some, but it still manages to wrap the trilogy featuring some of the best maps and it shows how much IO Interactive evolved during its development. It’s the game that begs you to embrace chaos and don’t care for the consequences – as long as the objective is fulfilled, of course.

Hitman 3 is a fantastic conclusion to one of gaming's truly great trilogies and, with this Cloud Version, Switch players get to join in the fun in an experience that delivers the goods – so long as you've got the bandwidth to handle it. The expected, unavoidable technical shortcomings of streaming a game over the internet – input lag, visual dips and framerate issues – are all present and correct to some degree but, on the whole, if your broadband setup is up to the task, you'll find that a perfectly playable version of a slick and addictive stealth title awaits.

I felt the care that went into making this game, from the suspenseful overarching narrative to the breathtaking visuals and malleable gameplay. Agent 47 is surprisingly personable, cracking jokes that wink at the fact that you're a hitman in disguise in high stakes situations. He also has a passion for cosplay that's embroidered into the way he operates, using fashion as stealth, blending into any room like a chameleon. When I embodied Agent 47, travelling from spectacular location to spectacular location to complete each dastardly deed on my checklist, I truly was Mr. Worldwide.

It's the best action shooter series out at the moment for sure.

The classic Hitman gameplay is as polished as it has ever been and it's campaign provides a surprisingly satisfying conclusion to Agent 47's journey.

There’s a vast amount of content in each destination to see and experience; you’ll actively want to try various ways to play. It’s a game that’s meant to be played repeatedly, and combined with Hitman 1 and 2; you’ll have a near-endless World of Assassination to explore. As with the previous two titles, an internet connection is required for challenge and progression unlocks. So if you’re looking to check off everything there is to do in the game and earn rewards, you’ll want to be connected to the Hitman servers. If Hitman 3 is your first entry, I wholly recommend picking up the unlocks for the older games; the phrase “worth the price of admission” couldn’t be any more accurate when speaking of the Hitman series. The World of Assassination continues to thrive, so be its savior or its terror 47, I leave you to prepare.

Hitman 3 does RPG better than many games of this genre.

Hitman 3 is an early game of the year contender for me. It really is the ultimate stealth sandbox and one that any fan of the genre should check out. IO Interactive has taken their skills to the next level and I cannot wait to see what they do with the 007 license.

The perfect sandbox killing game, just with bigger and more varied environments which go in all directions and compel you to play them again, and again.

Hitman 3 has some issues, like its duration and a little sameness. However, the addition of the first two games to the package added enormous value to the series, making it one of the most interesting titles to play on PlayStation 5.

There's no real need to play the previous two games beforehand as most levels are stand-alone adventures and the overarching storyline isn't that interesting, although if you do already own them then it's possible to integrate them into Hitman 3 from the same game system. It's a tremendously replayable series, with challenges, 'mission stories' and leaderboards all teasing brand new ways to approach each level. IO Interactive recently announced their next project: a brand new James Bond game, a licence (to kill) for which they're clearly a brilliant match. For now, their legacy is a trilogy of perfect stealth action-adventures. It seems inevitable that one day Hitman will return.

Much like Agent 47, Hitman 3 appeals to those willing to craft their skills to perfection. Mastering every level can require thorough exploration of the environment and a grasp of how NPC’s behave. If you’re one of those who crave that experience, then Hitman 3 has our full recommendation.

Hitman 3, the final game in IO Interactive’s “World of Assassination” trilogy doesn’t deviate from its two immediate predecessors in any major ways. Its gameplay isn’t liable to surprise anybody who has experienced what the semi-rebooted approach to the Hitman franchise has to offer. Instead, its adjustments to the overall formula are more subtle in nature, but the effects are substantial. That said, anybody who decides to jump into the trilogy via its third entry will discover a game that is, arguably, the best title in a series that has differentiated itself from both shooters and stealth games since the 2016 episodic release of Hitman.

Hitman III masterfully concludes the World of Assassination trilogy, subtly expanding the essence of its stealth gameplay implemented in 2016. It is a global conspiracy and espionage tale with well-grounded ideas, visually rich in details and full of possibilities, allowing the player to take smart approaches to improve the art of murder.

Despite the less than stellar final mission and instability of the servers, Hitman 3 is a worthy entry to bring the World of Assassination trilogy to a close. While it’s uncertain where Agent 47 will go from here, I feel the series is in good hands and I’ll be sure to have my Fiber Wire handy for the next contract.

The 2016 Hitman was one of my favorite games of the year, and the same could be said for the follow-up. As I said before, it truly made assassination a game, and an extremely replayable one at that. Hitman III is an excellent third act, and it will probably stay as one of the more fun titles you can have in your early PS5 library.
