MEDIOCRE - A rather bland experience that is tainted by technical issues that almost render the game unplayable on the docked Switch, but made slightly better with some published workarounds. Once the game is patched and cleaned up it might be worth checking out, but I’m not sure that’ll be enough to make the game fun.

But all of these positive aspects pale in front of the technical part that is severely lacking. As such I cannot recommend Ary and The Secret of Seasons until several patches have come out fixing the annoying issues of the game.

The game is brimming with potential. Unfortunately, the weak narrative, plain bad combat, and a plethora of bugs and glitches make it so that I simply can’t recommend that anyone buy this ten-hour-long game.

If there are some patches to fix the bugs and technical issues, it could be recommended on sale, but until then I cannot suggest anyone play this game.

Ary and the Secret of Seasons has turned out to be the platforming adventure I expected. Complete, fun, agile and with suitable dungeons. Of course, the ability to manipulate the four seasons in imaginative ways in exploration, puzzles and combat is the true hallmark of this epic. Only regret aspects less successful or with less work, which prevent the game from reaching even higher, but what there is certainly deserves.

At the heart of Ary and the Secret of Seasons rests a good story and a delightful world ripe for exploring. The only thing that keeps players from experiencing the world in full is the game's half-done execution. The glitches alone will put off seasoned gamers, and given this game's young demographic, it is hard to imagine kids suffering through the slips. This is a shame as Ary is the kind of character you want to root for. But after one too many glitches, her dazzling personality will fail to keep gamers plugged in.

It offers some solid worldbuilding, a likeable lead, several funny moments, quality voice acting, and a few half-decent cutscenes for an indie title. Unfortunately, it seems it needed a few more seasons of its own before being anywhere near ready for release.

Ultimately, Ary and The Secret of Seasons is a tragically rushed title. I honestly wanted to like this game; I like the genre, the aesthetics, and the characters that are actually voiced. It’s a lighthearted action platformer with a unique plot, big adventure, and interesting bosses.

A game with lots of potential that we can enjoy any and everywhere, but has too many issues on its own.

Ary and the Secret of Seasons presents unprecedented mechanics in which the characteristics of the seasons are used to revitalize objects and areas to create interesting 3D platform puzzles. Although it has its charm, the experience ends up being as fleeting and forgettable as the seasons themselves with four seasons full of technical problems such as rendering deadlocks, errors and crashes, in addition to other aspects that make the title repetitive, dragged and almost nothing challenging .

A well-told story, a fantastic gameplay mechanic centred around seasons, and a well-realised world filled with unique characters. It’s not a game we’d urge you to rush out and purchase immediately, but if you’re after an action-adventure fix, you could do a lot worse.

Ary and the Secret of Seasons has some inventive ideas with its puzzles but it lacks enjoyment in every other aspect of it.

Ary and the Secret of Seasons is a fun and innocent experience that should be recognised for its high-standard of puzzle design and clever implementation of its unique seasonal dome mechanic. Unfortunately, poor progression and irritating UI design make otherwise enjoyable sections frustrating, and the slew of bad performance issues and glitches ensure that Ary's journey isn't all fun.

Ary and the Secret of Seasons is fun for a while, but the technical issues really effect it, and stop you from having a great adventure.

Ary and the Secret of Seasons delivers on its core systems and its ambition pays off in many areas, but it’s frustrating and off-key moments along with continuous bugs make it a mixed bag.

With some more time in the oven. Ary and the Secret of Seasons could be a stellar Zelda Clone. The dungeons offer some decent challenge with the seasonal powers and later on you get access to a seasonal slingshot which helps with strategies. But that doesn’t change how the game feels soulless, characters frozen like it’s winter everywhere, the sounds characters make during conversations, even things like the choice of font, the objectives hanging on screen all the time, even just Ary’s reactions to new tasks feel empty. There is definitely some potential here, just some polish could make this game really shine.

I had been looking forward to playing Ary and the Secret of Seasons since the game was announced. Unfortunately, I’m left feeling disappointed in the game. I do like the swapping of seasons mechanic to solve the puzzles. Once the game is updated and if the glitches are successfully removed I do think Ary and the Secret of Seasons would make a great family game for the whole family to play together. As the game is at the moment with its frequent framerate drops, stuttering and glitches which actually put you off playing the game. I can’t, in all honesty, recommended it as a fun and entertaining experience currently.

It’s by no means a perfect game, as it’s rife with bugs, glitches, and graphical issues, but it’s so charming that you won’t care about that before long. It has an engaging story, interesting characters, dynamic environments, and a unique gameplay system with the Seasonal Stones.
