Monster Hunter Rise Reviews
With a little bit more investment in the narrative, Monster Hunter Rise could have been a perfect game. Without that it's just one of the best games in the series, a must-play title for every Nintendo Switch owner. I'm amazed that after two incredible Monster Hunter games, Capcom still finds a way to outdo itself and push out another nearly perfect monster-hunting title.
Monster Hunter Rise is committed to avoid tedious situations, with an efficient adventure that focuses your attention on exploration and monster battle. Rise is the highest point in the evolution of the saga that finds a balance between the past and the novelties of the Monster Hunter World: Iceborne

Monster Hunter Rise is not only an excellent Switch game, but also an early game of the year contender. If you don't mind a bit of grinding, you won't be disappointed.
New monster Hunter for Switch with some fresh ideas and good gameplay.

I put about 280 hours into Generations Ultimate and was playing it even up to the time this review goes live, but for mostly lack-of-PC reasons I never got into World. Monster Hunter Rise has enough content that I feel like I'll be able to go all the way with it, and be able to take on the new hunts as they're delivered. Even those who are just looking for a good action game, and have no history with the series, should jump in. If nothing else, I could use some help with Rathalos.
It might be aesthetically different – completely different, in fact - but the ideas, storytelling tradition, and sense of wonder and awe at the natural world all translate across. In many ways, Monster Hunter Rise represents the purest execution of that idea, and from my perspective that makes it the best game in the series to date.
A fight with two different monsters will never be the same as they each have their own unique behavior and attack patterns that require different approaches. If you love thinking strategically and taking time to prepare, then this game might just be for you! There’s an exciting thrill to fighting larger beasts as you grind your equipment in preparation for the hunt. In this, Rise gets an excellent mark with our full recommendation to buy it.
Monster Hunter Rise is probably the pinnacle of Capcom's series, despite being the least "traditional" chapter. The gameplay remains mostly unchanged, but the revisited, streamlined, and sped-up routine makes this the best and most accessible entry for both veterans and newcomers. Capcom's production has few flaws, mainly related to its technical prowess, which at times reveals its humble computational origins. Monster Hunter Rise is probably the first chapter that can be recommended to everyone without distinction: the hunt is open for all!

Monster Hunter Rise is a fantastic title to onboard newcomers to the franchise, with traversal mechanics which make previous entries feel borderline archaic. It feels like we haven’t seen the full scope of Rise’s longevity, but this is Monster Hunter at its most accessible and fun, with all the potential to evolve into one of the best games of the year.
A vast improvement over Monster Hunter World, but it feels less robust in story content.
If you have never played Monster Hunter Rise, then the PC version is a perfect excuse to jump in. Despite the game not looking much better than Monster Hunter World or worse rather, it is still a solid game that should not be passed up.
I find the PS5 and Xbox versions of Monster Hunter Rise to definitely be the better version of the game, at least as far as consoles are concerned, and would wholeheartedly recommend you check out either version if you have yet to play the game.
Monster Hunter: Rise is a fantastic game that combines deep combat systems with beautiful graphics and smooth performance. The game is a genuine pleasure, and it’s easy to see why the Monster Hunter series has become such a global hit. If you’re a series fan or looking for a new gaming experience, you won’t be disappointed by Monster Hunter: Rise.
Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak offers just more of the same at first glance. New monsters, a new difficulty, new maps and a new campaign to follow. Those who dare to sink their teeth into this behemoth of a game will quickly notice however, that there have been tweaks and changes to not only empower the players even further by reducing busywork and introducing new, flashy skills, but more critically empower the monsters. This adds some much-needed challenge to the game, even if the overall difficulty is still on the lower end of what fans of the series have come to expect. The follower quests need to be especially highlighted as a clever and fun replacements for the unpopular rampage quests.

It's best to open with honesty, and in this case I'll admit that to this point the Monster Hunter series has always intimidated me...
Monster Hunter Rise feels right at home on PlayStation 5. Between the DualSense support, 3D Audio, and the stunning 4K visuals, it’s a source of amazement and wonder just how well a handheld game has translated to such powerful hardware. Despite the disappointment of missing Sunbreak here at launch, this is a vast, valuable and enjoyable package that suits your playstyle, whether it’s a mission here and there, or a week of intense hunting.
Monster Hunter Rise is a perfect fantasy hunting simulator. It's way too niche to recommend to everyone, but if you can fit the target demographic, it will be a straight up hunting paradise for you.
