I’d like to see Ender Lilies thrive during its Early Access period, and I hope that a lot of these problems and balance issues can be worked out quickly because I do think there’s a promising game to be had here. At this stage of Early Access though and with so many other options available on the market that feel almost identical to this game, it struggles a bit to keep its head above the water. The graphical style and unique presentation will certainly set it apart from the more realistic looking offerings out there, but for now, I think the early consensus can be to wait for some updated and additional content before jumping in.

As it is, ENDER LILIES is an expertly crafted but clearly early access game. Sure, it lacks a bit of depth, but the content that is there is encouraging. They’ve already managed to build a ridiculously forceful atmosphere and solid underlying mechanics. It’s polished well beyond most early release titles, but still lacks the depth of a full release. Now, the only task left is to add content. If Binary Haze can spice up their enemies a little more, and expand the game by a couple of hours, they’ll have a truly remarkable achievement on their hands.

You don’t have to try so hard to find the inspirations that ENDER LILIES: Quietus of the Knights has taken from the most famous Metroidvania and souls-like titles but it’s not a bad thing at all. This is as standard as a video game in this genre gets and thankfully it doesn’t punish you harshly for the mistakes that you make which in turn makes it one of the most fun Metroidvanias in years.

ENDER LILIES: Quietus of the Knights brings together several elements that pique my interest in metroidvania games: vast map full of secret locations, well-developed characters, a striking plot and, to top it off, a neat visual and a pleasant soundtrack that, together, contribute to a formidable ambiance. Although the title does not add great originality to the style, it knows very well how to use the inspiration of established franchises without sounding like something cliché or excessive, making it easily one of the best recommendations for those looking for an experience worthy of the best games of the genre.

ENDER LILIES: Quietus of the Knights is one of the best Metroidvanias I’ve played. Sure, it’s challenging, but also well balanced and fair. When you add stunning artwork, captivating music and a touching story, you have a winner.

It's really hard not to recommend ENDER LILIES: Quietus of the Knights. From brilliant level designs over into a properly evolving gameplay and combat systems only ever supported by great musical arrangements, if there's one thing any fan of the style should sit down to this year? It should be this. Not a fan of the style? You should give it a go as even without the Souls-esque and Metroidvania nature's, there's a solid 2D action adventure platformer just waiting to be explored.

Ender Lilies: Quietus of the Knights is a standout experience. From its speedy combat to its breathtaking visuals, there’s something for any action love fan. The minimal challenge may not mesh well with hardcore players, but exploring this dreary world is rewarding enough. The influences of this adventure only supplement its unique action systems, and very little stands in the way of its beauty.

ENDER LILIES: Quietus of the Knights is an excellent game, a fantastic metroidvania, and a great work of design and art. Inspirations and similarities, with their own personality, combats, a lot of exploration, pitfalls and possibilities. A title that cannot be missed unless the reader has a minimum taste for 2D games of this genre, here represented by a very complete, rich title with a commendable artistic invoice.

Ender Lilies Quietus of the Knights is one of those games where, usually, this level of high difficulty would put me off and I would just walk away due to frustration. But I didn’t, some bosses took me multiple attempts to complete and yes I had to take breaks, but I kept getting drawn back to fight the darkness. Maybe it was the delightful piano score, the light vs dark story arc or the smooth control system but I just couldn’t help being drawn back in. I’ll admit I was not very good at the game but this is a rare occasion where despite my hardships I have nothing but praise for this title. Not for everyone, but as the game seems to hint at in the darkest of depths there is always light. At least that’s what I took from it.

Ender Liles takes some influence from popular games and genres, combining them into one impressive package. Supported by one of the most beautiful scores I’ve ever heard, the journey through this destroyed world is breathtaking to behold. While challenging, mastering combat is a rewarding experience, culminating in immensely satisfying boss fights. While the RPG side of this action RPG could use a little more polish, the rest of the game is still a work of art.

Ender Lilies: Quietus of the Knights is a stunning Metroidvania set in a gothic nightmare where there is no hope for the inhabitants. Through a roughly 20 hour campaign, you restore the light to Land's End in what is a breakout hit for 2021.

Ender Lilies is one of the finest games of the year. Part Metroidvania and part Soulslike, it manages to deliver in all phases: story, world-building, mechanics, gameplay, value, art, and music.

ENDER LILIES: Quietus of the Knights doesn’t necessarily bring a lot new to the table, but it does a great job of mashing up the principles of Soulsborne and Metroidvania games into a hauntingly beautiful 2D action experience. Certainly there were moments of frustration – this is not the hardest game I’ve ever played, but ENDER LILIES: Quietus of the Knights certainly is not easy either. It has a very distinctive aesthetic that really appealed to me though as I continued to unravel Lily’s mystery while exploring this unique world.

Ender Lilies: Quietus of the Knights begins with the soft pitter-patter of rain and text scrawling itself along the bottom of the screen. A short exposition accompanies a beautiful illustration that showcases the player character: a young girl fast asleep with lilies in her hair and a foreboding, sinister looking brand on her forehead. She awakens alone in an unfamiliar world with the spirit of a deceased knight to guide her. This paints an evocative picture of the world of Ender Lilies and sets the tone going forward.

Ender Lilies: Quietus of the Knights caught me by complete surprise. 2021 has been a quiet year so far, yet it’s easy for smaller games like this to fall through the cracks. And that’d be a shame. If you’re starving for more info on Metroid Dread and Hollow Knight: Silksong, no need to go hungry. Ender Lilies is far more than an appetizer; it’s a whole meal, and one of the best Metroidvanias in recent memory. Don’t miss it.

Ender Lilies is a fantastic game, with some really cool ideas and twists to the metroidvania genre. It never felt like it was leaning on and borrowing from another title heavily, and I appreciated that a lot.

Overall, Ender Lilies: Quietus of the Knights is an absolutely stellar hybrid of 2D Metroidvania exploration and souls-like combat rolled into a wonderfully artistic package. With tough but smooth combat, exploration that feels both fulfilling and challenging, a beautiful art style and soundtrack, as well as an endearing story, Ender Lilies really captures a lot of great aspects. It’s incredibly hard to pick out any real issues with Ender Lilies other than personal preference, but it is really easy to recommend to anyone looking for either a Metroidvania or Souls-like. A great package that has come together magnificently, Ender Lilies will not leave you disappointed.
