Stronghold: Warlords Reviews
A decent if generic strategy game that lacks the big personality and siegecraft of earlier entries.
Stronghold Warlords has a refreshing East Asian setting and satisfying castle building, but it looks and plays like an RTS that was asleep for most of the last decade or two.
Stronghold: Warlords is a refreshing new look for the long-running siege warfare series, rekindling much of what made the series great in the early 2000s. However, there's a number of deep-seated flaws that Firefly need to make the focus of game updates and redefine for the series going forward.
Stronghold: Warlords isn't really a bad game, but antiquated mechanics and bland campaigns prevent it from standing out amongst a crowded strategy market.

Stronghold Warlords is a decent strategy game. While the city-building and sieging truly let the game shine, the slow and sluggish pace between these can truly drag it down. The new diplomacy and warlords system adds something to the series and makes for a welcome change, but it's impossible not to think of this as a game that feels and plays like a strategy game from 20 years ago, for better and for worse.
While missions can be frustrating and the new diplomacy system is nothing to write home about, Stronghold: Warlords should satisfy devoted fans with its new, gorgeously realised setting.
Boasting classic mechanics that have aged like a fine wine, the few additions to the formula make Stronghold: Warlords a worthy entry into anyone's RTS library.
The time I spent playing Stronghold: Warlords was more than enjoyable. The series did not become instantly better nor revolutionized anything, but the developers have finally prepared a game that doesn't need any apologies. Warlords is not the prettiest, but it runs really well.

Clever Building, Interesting Combat, But is it Enough?
The Stronghold name covers a series of strategy games where you build monumental castles and lay siege to your enemies. This series has many duds in its arsenal, but the original game will undoubtedly be remembered as one of the all-time greats. Let's see if Firefly Studios' decision to take their ventures to ancient China will give Stronghold the revival it deserves.
Set in the far east, Stronghold: Warlords is the new RTS made by FireFly Studios, but it can't bring back the good old times.

Stronghold: Warlords approaches the RTS genre a little differently than most, and with varying results.
Stronghold Warlords is definitely one of the best Real Time Strategy games in recent years. Building a Stronghold, keeping your People fed and Happy and getting properly prepared for upcoming sieges or Invasions is Extremely Enjoyable. On the other hand Graphics are not As we would expect from a 2021 game and AI may behave strangely from time to time. Nevertheless, if you are a fan of RTS games, Stronghold: Warlords is a game you must absolutely play...

Stronghold: Warlords is a good strategy, but not good enough to take series back to its glory as there's nothing really new and exciting about the game's formula.

Warlords doesn't bring any fresh ideas neither to Stronghold series nor to the RTS genre. The only worthwhile piece here is the fascinating peaceful campaign.

Stronghold: Warlords is a slightly revamped version of the game that hasn't changed in decades. The new setting and diplomacy mechanics don't add enough flavor to a stale experience, that still has a few issues to work out.
Return on quality of Stronghold series. Imperial warlords can help you to win... or betray you.

This is not the best strategy in the last several months, I will easily find a few better ones, but I can consider the return of the Stronghold successful.

If you've ever played a Stronghold series in the past, you'll feel at home again. And that is perhaps the greatest weakness of the game. Developers were afraid of innovation, so we have a title that overslept that it's 2021. Instead, it's just a mediocre game that will soon be forgotten again.

Neither as a veteran or a newbie, you won't go wrong with Stronghold Warlords. New players can expect a very good intro to the series and veterans of the series will finally get an entry that gets pretty close to the legendary Stronghold Crusader.
