There is a lot to like about Disco Elysium. Its unorthodox and detailed world is beautifully rendered, and the characters are excellently voiced. There is a ton of style that makes it appealing, but none of it matters if the current build is broken and unplayable.

There are so many aspects of its design in which Disco Elysium stands unmatched. Boasting unparalleled player agency, the sort of writing that makes me deeply jealous and a cast of characters that are resolutely unforgettable, Disco Elysium is easily one of the most intelligent and fascinating RPGs ever made. However, in its current form, the presence of game breaking bugs that prevent you from finishing missions, levels a near fatal blow at Disco Elysium that not even its towering brilliance is sufficient to overcome. I'm sure there's a timeline where all the bugs have been fixed and I'm playing Disco Elysium for the first time, awarding it the 10/10 score it deserves. Right now, this isn't that timeline.

The 1.02 patch just went live, but console players are still reporting that it's not fixing a majority of the problems, especially progression blockers. Unfortunately it seems like a situation we'll have to wait out, and just hope that ZA/UM is able to fix the issues. This game really is a must-play for anyone who loves storytelling or the RPG genre - that is if you're on PC, or if you can wait for subsequent patches for console versions. In spite of everything though, Disco Elysium's twisting, tumbling adventure is one worth waiting for.

It emerges as an irreverent letter to heartbreak, desolation, psychology and revolution. Behind its proposal hides an unimaginable talent, and that is something that an improvable version cannot hide.

In conclusion, due to its origin and the number of words constantly displayed on screen Disco Elysium – The Final Cut sometimes comes across more as a visual novel than anything else. It is rare for a game to have such historical depth and deeply complex narrative and therefore it is very impressive, although it should be stated this is not a game for the faint hearted or something that non-fans of this genre will probably want to take on. Some of the subject matter is fairly grim and destructive behaviour is contained within the story but it is not glorified as there are penalties to be paid for activities such as drug use. I cannot think of another game quite like this and can see why the game has been lauded since its original release. If this particular style of game appeals to you it is not one to be missed.

Disco Elysium is a truly unique, narrative-driven point-and-click RPG that puts you in the shoes of a detective caught in the middle of a murder investigation… and so, so much more. While not without flaws, it’s well worth playing for those looking for a deeper story - and maybe even deeper meaning.

The voice that narrates everything and also plays your different stats is really satisfying to listen to, keeping me around to hear it all even though I could personally read way faster than he could talk. If you enjoy games that lean heavily into their dice rolling foundations, you should absolutely put your time into Disco Elysium; you will not regret it. With its myriad of technical difficulties on the Switch, however, it may be a good idea to look elsewhere unless portability is your main concern.

While Disco Elysium: The Final Cut won't appeal to everyone, those that do enjoy it will sing its praises for a long time to come. Just be prepared for a few bugs if you play on console.

Disco Elysium: The Final Cut is still the highest level of story, brilliant atmosphere and wonderful adventure. Unfortunately on PS5 it didn't work out as well as on PC. And although I would give a "nine" for these first features without thinking, there were a lot of mistakes that simply can not be forgotten.

Due to a myriad of technical hiccups, finicky controller support and some uneven changes, Disco Elyisum - The Final Cut is disappointingly not the best version of this otherwise sophisticated and ingenious game.

There are valid criticisms to level at Disco Elysium: The Final Cut. The console port wasn't handled as cleanly as it could have been and new players are likely to get blindsided in a way that just a touch more information up front would have avoided.

The constant ebb and flow of Disco Elysium's storyline makes for one amazing adventure that can easily be replayed, tackling problems in different ways each time. The Nintendo Switch is a great fit for this kind of game, and the adjustment of the controls was handled well by the team at ZA/UM. This is a perfect rendition of Disco Elysium for new players who are interested in the game, or returning players who want to relive the fever dream on a portable console.

I’m not necessarily a fan of all of the design choices - it’s often both too open ended and too restrictive - but I understand them all, and I wish it was less of an exception to the rule. I can’t fault its narrative, or even its design, despite my disagreements. If someone told me they consider it a perfect game, I wouldn’t have anything besides personal preference to come back at them. But with the fiddly game design likely to block off even more players than the already niche themes, I can’t help but wish a game so focused on socialism could have been more welcoming to the masses.

Disco Elysium: The Final Cut is a masterwork in video-game storytelling that will engross you from start to finish. Only persistent technical issues hold it back.

A major update to the intricately plotted and highly detailed RPG, that gives players more of what they loved in the original release and the same amount of what they didn't.

Right now Disco Elysium The Final Cut is damn close to that vision. It is not often that I can forgive a messy launch, but the fixes that patched up things quite quickly and the experience itself outweighs any issues that are already in the past. If there was any game from the ones presented in a while that I wholeheartedly recommend, this is the one.

‎Disco Elysium: The Final Cut is one of the most interesting and tightly written stories we've seen in a video game. It also offers a freedom and impact that puts Telltale Games in a bad light. Slightly clumsy controls and a bug here and there does not prevent us from enjoying this absurdist spectacle to the fullest.‎

Disco Elysium - The Final Cut presents us with a different bet where the classic mechanics of role-playing games are mixed with a unique script that will provide us with a large number of hours of entertainment where decision-making will be crucial in our adventure. With this final version there is no longer an excuse to face this excellent adventure.
