Guilty Gear -Strive- Reviews
A gorgeous and satisfying fighter with a net code that makes intercontinental matches possible. Dripping with style, with more characters and modes, it wouldn't be a stretch to call it revolutionary.

Guilty Gear -Strive- is perhaps not as revolutionary as the creators promised us, but it's still a very good brawl with some fresh solutions. For fans of the genre, the position is mandatory!

For a PS5 owner desperate for a 2D fighter to add to their collection, this is a no brainer. With a long history of 2D fighters in this reviewer's back catalogue Guilty Gear Strive has gained a place in the top tier pantheon of the genre. Fantastic graphics, excellent gameplay that has the perfect balance of easy to pick up, difficult to master and some real thought put into the obligatory online mode mean it is likely to remain unbeaten for a long time to come. Maybe until the next entry in the series is released. Brilliant Brawling.
Guilty Gear -Strive- is everything fans of the franchise had hoped for and maybe a little more. It brings precise and refined mechanics, a neat look and a narrative that should close some of the arcs opened in previous games.

Overall Guilty Gear Strive is a great game. Arc System Works really took the time to create a tight and refined fighter that is only complemented by a rock-solid online component. For a game series over twenty years old, Strive is the most accessible in the series for newcomers by far, and if you never have played a fighter but think this one looks neat then by all means jump in. There is a lack of single-player options and the lobbies can feel clunky and tedious but, once you’re in the heat of a match, these issues simply melt away.
Guilty Gear -Strive- rocked my socks off with its gorgeous visuals, kick-ass music, and tight fighting gameplay. I can't wait until it releases so I can spend hours beating up all sorts of folks in its impressive online multiplayer mode.
Guilty Gear Strive is not only a miraculous 60fps port that makes the most minimal of sacrifices, keeping the 2021 masterpiece’s crisp animated effects and characters, but they managed to bring over every one of the game’s features to the aging Nintendo Switch with minimal loading times.
If you're a fan of fighting games, Guilty Gear -Strive- is a great choice for Nintendo's little hybrid monster. It shows the power of excellent optimization combined with an already great game. With the additional content included, everything gets even better, but the lack of crossplay can get in the way.

Guilty Gear -Strive- is already considered one of the best current-day fighters and its addition to Switch, even if late, is very welcome. It may be intimidating for newcomers due to its high expressiveness, and bother veterans due to some gameplay simplifications, but it's a must-play for fans of the genre.

Guilty Gear Strive Nintendo Switch Edition impressed me positively. I confess that I didn't expect the game to run and look as well as it does here. Add to that the years of content this game delivers for the price of the base version, and we have one of the best versions of Strive. The only negative point that prevents it from being the best version of the game for me is that it doesn't have crossplay, greatly limiting the player base.

If you can put up with the minor issue regarding the long loading times, you’re in for an absolute treat. Is Guilty Gear Strive the best traditional fighting game available on the Nintendo Switch? I think it’s one of the biggest contenders. Featuring fantastic visuals, great performance, and all previously released content, it might be out at the end of the system’s lifecycle, but I’m glad Arc System Works took its time to ensure this port would look, run and feel as amazing as its beefier console counterparts.
Every movement and impact in every match feels tight and concise. The art is beyond gorgeous and every stage an immaculate world. The character designs are flooring, with attention to detail. The music is pure serotonin for the nerves and senses. It encapsulates everything a stylish Japanese 2D fighting game should be, and will go down as an incredible fighting game and be played for years to come inside the FGC scene and out.
Guilty Gear Strive is a great fighting game that fits right at home in the genre, and that doesn't change with the Blazing Edition. However, this "definitive" version seems rather pointless for most players, both old and new.
After being an obscurity for years, Guilty Gear Strive should turn the franchise into the juggernaut it always deserved to be. The online lobby system isn’t ideal and there are limited modes for offline play, but planned updates should make these short-term grievances. As it is, Guilty Gear has never been so accessible, addictive and deliciously bombastic. Step aside Tekken and Street Fighter, your reign is over.
Arc System Works is always striving for greatness in the genre, and they have done it yet again by making Guilty Gear a more accessible fighting game for players of all skill levels.
Gorgeous visuals, a banger soundtrack, unique characters, solid fighting mechanics, and a solid online component all form a neat package ready to be devoured.
If you don't want to take it online, there are Arcade and Survival modes available, but that's also something one has to consider before diving in given how much more of the experience opens up with multiplayer options. For fans who have been waiting to see how Guilty Gear evolves, Guilty Gear -Strive- is an intense experience that should ultimately exceed the expectations of veteran players. For those curious about this franchise and are looking for a great way in, there's no better time to do so than now as the fighter is more welcoming than ever. Guilty Gear is back, and it wants everyone to party.
Guilty Gear is back in a moment of stagnation for a genre that still has so much to offer by addressing an audience of players made up of hardcore players and newbies.

Guilty Gear Strive makes a few changes to a long-loved formula but proves it is as stylish as ever with presentation and combat that proves the series deserves its time in the spotlight.
I hate playing against every character on the cast—even the mirror match—and that’s a beautiful thing.
