While the game does stumble a bit, it’s a perfect example of why teams such as Eidos-Montréal are some of the best at what they do. Once the credits roll, you’ll find that Guardians of the Galaxy will leave you craving more, which honestly, should come as no surprise due to how well rounded the overall experience actually is. It’s just a shame that we may have to wait for quite a while before getting another title.

Guardians of the Galaxy’s power really came to fruition as the credits rolled. This is a linear and completable experience that takes you on a memorable, fun, and often hilarious ride through the stars. It doesn’t do anything for the third-person action adventure genre, that you won’t find in an Uncharted or Tomb Raider, nor does it have much reason to revisit beyond collectibles and slight variations in its choice system. What it does do though is avoid the typical pitfalls of padding out content and begging its players to keep playing. Instead, you are treated to an emotional, exciting and riveting form of escapism. This is a game that not only respects your time, but respects the material. Simply put, Guardians of the Galaxy is a flarking good time.

Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy is, without a doubt, an example of how to release a game based on heroes from the Marvel universe, revealing that Square Enix has learned from the mistakes of the past. We highlight in particular its excellent narrative, an interaction between the characters from another world and a luxurious and truly striking soundtrack. Still, its lackluster combat and some small bugs that can unnerve players tend to prevent this game from being classified as a masterpiece. Nevertheless, Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy is a must-have game for all heroes fans and for those who want to enter this universe.

Packed with heart, surprising twists, emotional depth, and bombastic, tactical combat, this is an experience that’s not to be missed. Here’s hoping we get back in the Milano with these heroes really flarking soon.

Guardians of the Galaxy is a lot like the actual members of the Guardians of the Galaxy. It’s got Star-Lord’s wit, the tragic underpinning of Gamora and Rocket, Drax’s combat prowess, and Groot’s tender heart. All of its elements are strong on their own, but much stronger as a unit. Eidos-Montréal can even relate to the Guardians as it had to step out of its comfort zone and grow for this game; a successful move that resulted in a memorable and marvelous experience.

Guardians of the Galaxy provided me with a very beautiful experience. I enjoyed every moment of it and was surprised by its beautiful levels. The story, characters, and dialogues of the game were among the most interesting things that I tried recently. There are technical problems here and there that were not a big obstacle in my experience of the game, if you are a fan of Superheroes games I recommend it to you.

You’d be forgiven for associating this Guardians of The Galaxy game with the 2020 hulk-smash hit Marvels Avengers. For many I think there was almost a belief it would play and feel like a DLC or expansion of the former. Despite it being published by the absolute juggernaut Square Enix akin to Avengers. GOTG wasn’t developed by the Gex-famed team over at Crystal Dynamics in California, and instead was helmed by those delightful Canadians at Eidos Montreal.

Overall, Guardians of the Galaxy was a fantastic surprise. I was sceptical going in but I was quickly blown away by the visual quality and art direction of the game, it’s great writing and its incredible soundtrack. Guardians of the Galaxy is another hit for Marvel Games and I can easily see it showing up on many game of the year lists at many outlets later this year.

With its engaging exploration, deep gameplay, well-acted characters, and a story that rivals those told in the MCU, Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy is what more Marvel games should strive to be.

Although over the decades comics have become ever more reflective of the complexities and concerns of contemporary life, in the end, they are still often the literary or cinematic equivalent of fast food: momentarily delicious, exactly what you need to fill the void, but not necessarily memorable or nutritious. Guardians of the Galaxy isn’t afraid of touching on some weighty themes, but they’re always secondary to an absorbing story, entertaining characters, and engaging action. Guardians of the Galaxy isn’t perfect, but overall, it’s a very effective translation of Marvel’s iconic band of misfits from page or screen into interactive entertainment.

Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy gets back to the classic singleplayer formula, steering away from the hybrid attempt of Marvel's Avengers and piecing together gameplay elements from Tomb Raider, Mass Effect and even Knights of the Old Republic to make a quite unique choral adventure.

Marvel Guardians of the Galaxy aims high and hits the target perfectly by delivering a thoroughly enjoyable single-player action RPG as you control Star Lord and his his motley alien crew while kicking a** along the way.

Guardians of the Galaxy knows how to pick up the baton from games like Marvel Spider-man or Batman Arkham and take advantage of all the lore of the comics. And in that the Cosmic Marvel is unparalleled. Richard Ryder, Yondu, Darkhawk, Mantis, Cosmo, Thanos or The Collector are just some of the names that will appear as simple references or as essential NPCs in the plot and the truth is that they greatly enrich the experience of the staunch fan of these characters. Eidos Montreal has emerged victorious from a challenge that had a lot against it beforehand, thanks to a practical design and no external complications. Square-Enix should take note of the way forward for future projects.

I’ll say it again: Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy is one of the best games of the year. It will absolutely be in Game of the Year conversations. Eidos did fantastic in executing a fun and engaging combat system. The game also encourages multiple playthroughs with different dialogue branches and unlockable costumes and collectibles. Aside from technical setbacks, the game is a thrilling, goofy, and heart-warming space epic. Even if you’re an MCU fan and love James Gunn’s versions of these characters, playing Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy felt like I was meeting them for the first time all over again. I sincerely hope this won’t be the last time we see them.

This is an excellent video game that you should try and play at some point. It’s worth buying full price if you have the money, but as it is on sale often now it’s 100% worth a pick-up.

Guardians of the Galaxy sets a new high bar for interactive storytelling and jaw-dropping visuals. With an unparalleled attention to detail, Guardians tells a rollicking sci-fi story rooted in true human emotion. But the gameplay sections of this narrative masterpiece sometimes bog down the proceedings with merely okay combat and exploration. Definitely play this game, but with the understanding that Peter Quill just isn't that exciting in a firefight.
