Age of Empires IV Reviews
Age of Empires 4 is an incredibly fun game that you can easily find yourself lost in for many hours as you take part in lengthy battles that can span over an hour or more. It's not vastly different from Age of Empires 3, instead slightly improving in most areas. This means that if you're a die hard Age of Empires fan then picking up Age of Empires 4 is a no-brainer, but don't rush out to play the game at full price if you own Game Pass because you can try it out for cheap.
Age of Empires IV, has become thanks to many factors in the dream comeback. A game that takes the foundations of an excellent strategy franchise and brings it back with some fantastic additions that improve everything that made this saga good. Its campaign mode is spectacular and makes you feel like you're in a history documentary where you and your civilization are the protagonists.

Age of Empires IV is a great RTS experience. But it fails to distinguish itself just enough from Age of Empires 2.
Despite a large number of RTS games on the market, Age of Empires has returned as a must-play title with Age of Empires IV. The game blends the classic gameplay that fans love with modern amenities and quality of life improvements. With dozens of hours of history to explore from the Battle of Dover to the Rise Of Moscow, there is no more fun way to experience history than with Age of Empires IV. As a long-time fan of the franchise since its release in 1997, I could not be happier with the passion and hard work that clearly went into making this game one of the best Age Of Empires games to date.
Age of Empires IV does not reinvent anything, but offers gameplay worthy of the time while adding some subtleties to please regulars of the franchise. If the artistic direction is not unanimous and the environment is very repetitive, the title still manages to provide as much pleasure as before.

Age of Empires 4 is a mixed bag for fans of the franchise. For Age of Empires 2 fans, this is an excellent, true sequel. For fans of Age of Empires 3 however, the gameplay might feel too slow and the diversity in troops is too low. History nuts can enjoy themselves with the campaign, but don't expect a challenge. If you are looking for a classic RTS however, Age of Empires 4 is a fine pick.

Age of Empires IV does not reinvent the wheel either for the series or for the strategy genre. However, it is truly a high-quality game, which has new additions and manages to keep the player's interest, with its four different campaigns and with a great variety of scenarios, objectives, and environments.

I was never completely won over by Age of Empires IV. Still, I had a great time playing it, and everything clicked together really well without feeling too overdone. The fact an Age of Empires game could be made in 2021 and not feel like something that’s trying too hard to lean into the nostalgia of the original games is a huge accomplishment.
While there’s very little wrong with Age of Empires IV, this is a game that could definitely have been used to take more risks. A part of me wondered what a modern Age of Empires game would feel like. It turns out, like more Age of Empires. You may at some point wonder why you didn’t just go back and play the series’ earlier titles. Excellent production values help to make the case, however, and there’s just so much to do. I fear I’ll pour far too many hours of my life into this game in the coming years. Fans who have been waiting for more Age of Empires or a good RTS that doesn’t feel like it had to be developed on a shoestring budget will find what they’re looking for in Age of Empires IV.
Relic Entertainment took advantage of the elements of 'AoE2', the best game in the series. Therefore, games are familiar and historic. And now it's the best RTS you can enjoy.

Age of Empires IV is a fantastic sequel worthy of the lineage it follows up.
Age of Empires IV is another good example of the kind of strategy we miss. There are some technical problems in the game, but it's a really successful production.

Age of Empires IV is a fresh breath of air for the series, but it doesn't abandon the franchise's roots either. All of the campaigns are quite innovative and definitely worth playing. But it remains to be seen whether the game can unseat the previous two games from the spot of the fan favorite.

The acclaimed strategy series comes back with and open window to other eras, the ones with wars and conflicts and a nostalgic one, for a great old-school game with modernized sensibilities.

Age of Empires IV turns back the hands of time in more ways than one. Whilst it would have been good for it to turn back enough time that I would be able to deliver a full review at this stage, I have played enough of the game to deliver this review in progress.
Age of Empires 4 is the true successor that we’ve been waiting ever so long for. It’s a perfect continuation that builds upon what made this series so special, while also making it accessible for new players.
it’s not revolutionizing the genre or setting a new standard in design. It has taken the best aspects of various games, creating a well-rounded package, with love and care of the stories being told and the civilizations and historical sagas being represented. Is it going to instigate new dawn for the classical real-time strategy game? Very doubtful. Is it going to be an amazing experience for fans of the genre? Absolutely.
