But it was the deckbuilding system, sigils and strategy that kept me coming back again and again and again. Inscryption feels like the perfect fit on Switch and is great on the go. While I thought I would play it in short sessions, the game kept pulling me in again and again to play for hours on end. You'll definitely get everything you've asked for and more while playing Inscryption and it makes for one must of a card game on the Nintendo Switch.

If you like the idea of a game that defies genres and will constantly take you to places you don’t expect, pick up Inscryption. If you enjoy card-based roguelikes (with some other stuff thrown in), pick up Inscryption. If you want to play something unlike anything else, doing things that most other games wouldn’t dare to, pick up Inscryption. Just… be prepared for the unexpected. Time and time again.

Inscryption is a card game that goes far beyond its initial premises, delivering narrative and gameplay twists on several occasions. It's a game that subverts all the player's expectations, renewing itself at each stage of its campaign. An easy-to-play roguelike, with complex mechanics and fun gameplay, as long as the randomness and restarts typical of the genre are tolerated. Inscryption is brilliant and you need to try it!

Inscryption tears apart all of the clichés and finds unique ways to break the obstacles between itself and the player. And succeeds in the creepiest way!

I would like to see more use for the sacrifice mechanic and some extra ways to cheat the rules. But self-aware creatures, cards that immortalize failed runs, and general creepiness add a lot to the core concepts. Inscryption has all the necessary ingredients to set a new standard of quality for its genre and keep fans engaged for tens of hours.

The game is fun and is worth every penny. Great story, amazing execution and a fantastic story! The game made me question the decisions I have made in the game and how I played it as I have gotten to the end of it. The game left me wanting more answers and more stories. I loved every part of it and I still come back to play it after not having played it for a year or so.

Inscryption knows exactly how to keep a player engaged, encouraging the player to take advantage of the game mechanics while offering tantalizing bits of progression just beyond the corner.

There could be an argument it outstays its welcome, and I’d understand that as a criticism, but personally, the ambition and invention put into the ever-expanding nuttiness on display in Inscryption makes this a forgivable sin. Inscryption has breezily waltzed into the game of the year conversation for me thanks to its ever-changing blend of folk horror-infused card-battling, dark humor, and its increasingly strange, yet compelling story.

Nintendo Switch users are in luck with the release of Incryption. Danield Mullins' game is quite an experience that will really surprise us and blow our minds, with very unexpected twists and a concept of a metagame or game within a game taken to an unexpected limit for any player. As a card game it also complies, but we say from now on that this playable part is just one more part of the intricate narrative born from the mind of a madman or a genius.

For anyone even remotely interested in puzzles, mystery, and an engrossing deck-building card game, Inscyption is a must-have title for the Nintendo Switch. The very nature that rouge-like games offer re-playability in itself, and it made my last few days with this game hard to put down. I took my Switch with me everywhere I went for a few quick hits before I could immerse myself fully when I got home.

Inscryption is one of my Games of the Year and is an absolute must-play. If you even have a passing interest in card games, mashed in with a bit of horror and puzzle solving, you’ll find this impossible to put down until you get all the answers to your questions. From the well designed mechanics, to the gradual narrative and creepy, menacing score, this has atmosphere and engagement in abundance and won’t let up until the credits roll.

Inscryption is overflowing with ideas, skilfully combines a few completely disparate genres, tells a gripping story with atmosphere so thick you could cut it with a knife and to top it off, it manages to be a fun and tight roguelite deckbuilder.

Inscryption is one of those striking, memorable games that makes us wish there was a Portuguese word for the term “mindfuck.” Each of the three acts has something unique to offer, both mechanically and narratively, and it is almost always a pleasure to learn the new gameplay nuances that are being put before us and to appreciate the creativity of a story that takes advantage of so much of the potential of the medium of video Games. Were it not for some of the serious difficulty balance issues, we would be debating this game here as being very, very close to perfection. If you are fans of indies with unique and distinct premises, you will find few titles as appealing as this one.

Inscryption is definitely a game I’d recommend trying for its unique experience, and I’m happy to get a chance to play it on a console a year after sticking to the PC. It’s a perfect synergy of roguelike deck builder and horror mystery that’s engaging from the moment you start playing until after you’ve completed the story to further explore its many mysteries. While it does have its issues and it may require a little bit of effort to gain momentum, it’s definitely worth the reward as you uncover Inscryption‘s many secrets and become fully involved in its world. It’s exhilarating, anxiety-inducing, and you may even get a laugh from its quirky dark humor; taken as a whole rather than the sum of its parts, this is where Inscryption truly shines.

This game has layers that I won’t go into in this review, because the moment that you get to peek behind the curtain deserves to be experienced first hand. It’s an experience that I didn’t see coming and will likely never forget.

Inscryption is excellent; at the beginning of the game, you have a deck of cards that you improve as you progress through the campaign. At one point, the campaign will start again with other mechanics, and your package is not the same as it was. The campaign is also somehow different, but it still acts as an Inscryption. What's happening? I'm taking off my hat.
