Gran Turismo 7 delivers some of the tightest driving a fan of the racing genre could ask for in a gorgeous package hampered by aggressive microtransactions and always online requirements.

Gran Turismo 7 shows passion for cars on and off the tracks. Its driving, the use of DualSense or the photo mode have a scandalous level. On the other hand, its biggest flaw is the need to be always online to access the game.

When you’re in it and smashing around the track against expert AI or other players, this is where Gran Turismo 7 excels. All of the weirdness that Polyphony Digital has bolted on to this quality car game fades away into obscurity. But sadly, that’s not all this is. Instead, it’s a jumble of well-made car racing and strange design decisions, coupled with his tonally odd take on what it means to be a car nerd. For now though, Gran Turismo 7 is the best console racing game for the masses, at least until another contender comes along.

It’s more accessible than the hardcore racing sims available on PC, but offers more depth, complexity and realism than your average arcade racer. And, more than anything, it serves as a potent reminder that when Sony lets its Japanese teams actually make games, they most certainly come up with the goods. It’s just a shame that doesn’t seem to happen all that often these days…

While Gran Turismo gets a lot right, it also gets a lot wrong too. The microtransactions and insidious roulette gambling are absolutely disgusting and have no place in a “AAA” game. Oh, and that’s before mentioning the mandatory always-online connection too. Without them this would be an easy 7.5/10. If you can stomach the inherent flaws and don’t have a history of addictive tendencies, Gran Turismo 7 is a decent racing title on the track but it misses a podium finish by spinning out on the home stretch.

Gran Turismo 7 is a masterful evolution of the series that pushes gameplay and content offering into a true next-gen package. There are a few online issues to iron out that keep it from being a racing masterpiece. Gran Turismo is finally back!

Gran Turismo 7 provides an excellent entry point to the series for players who are new to it. If the 7 in the title feels intimidating, you can let that go. Once you do, you’ll find a game that plays as well as any racing title on the market. Some strange choices along the way hold it back from racing perfection, but this is still a game that should keep PS5 racing fans busy for a long time.

Polyphony Digital is back with a bang, and while some may argue that Forza is a better all-round racing game, there is no reason why we can't enjoy them both, as Gran Turismo 7 is a beast of its own.

Gran Turismo 7 is a welcome return for the series after the lackluster GT Sport, even though there are some flaws that are mostly associated with microtransactions. The visuals and racing physics are top-notch as always and the game’s unique campaign that teaches you about the history of the automotive industry will keep car enthusiasts and newbies alike engaged for hours as they play through Gran Turismo 7.

Long story short, Gran Turismo 7 is a bit of a throwback to the genre’s early days — and includes some of the series’ old shortcomings — but when it comes to accurate driving physics and sheer, unadulterated love of cars, it’s something close to peerless.

Gran Turismo 7 is the most complete and fun installment of the saga. The driving is a delight and the whole game exudes passion and love for motorsports, but at the same time, the steps forward are too subtle and elements that have been in the players' sights for years, such as collisions, have not been polished. and artificial intelligence. Gran Turismo 7 is an evolution, but it is not the great revolution that the saga has pending.

Gran Turismo 7 is a title that brings together all the good things that have been done over the years and, although it has certain flaws, it has room for improvement and the possibility of polishing it with constant updates. The fact of coming out on two consoles with different powers seems to have made it difficult for it to become the technical ceiling of the genre, although it maintains the level.

Gran Turismo 7 is a refreshingly authored game in a sea of titles that tend to throw a wealth of content at the player. Non-event-related car unlocks take time and players will get familiar with their vehicles before adding to their collection in a meaningful way.

Gran Turismo 7 was a mixed experience. I love its car loving philosophy, giving us gearheads a playground to mess around with some of the most beautiful and powerful machines ever created. Sadly, for every aspect Polyphony has knocked out of the park, such as the quality of the models and the Music Rally mode, there was something else that made the overall package feel like a glorified PS3 racing game covered with a next-gen, ray-traced coat of paint.
