At its core, Outriders: Worldslayer does bring to the table enough enhancements when it comes to the actual gameplay of this looter-shooter. That entertaining combat coupled with new Apocalypse Gear, Tiers, and more are what makes the game truly tick, even if the narrative beats can be hit and miss. There is certainly room for People Can Fly to explore other parts of the world in future content, but for now, we’ll make do with a looter-shooter experience that has become even better than before.

Many gamers likely remember Outriders' difficult launch on all platforms, which featured dozens of visual glitches, crashes, bland gameplay systems, and unfinished touches. However, the game's previous New Horizons update and the Worldslayer DLC have redeemed it in many ways. Worldslayer's biggest appeal is its increased loot pool and finalized endgame, but players shouldn't expect more than a few dozen hours of gameplay before running out of content. The existing bugs aren't enough to completely ruin the DLC, and are likely to be fixed with a launch day patch or later update. Those who enjoyed Outriders after its New Horizons patch (or are looking for an opportunity to join the franchise) should experience Outriders Worldslayer.

The bones of Worldslayer are excellent, but the story and end game content are greatly lacking. I would love to see a hybrid system that comes in smaller chunks of content at a faster pace, such as in the form of a season passes. Leave out the microtransactions and add $10 clips of content quarterly, that way players can feel like the story is still alive. As it stands, the story abruptly ended in a frustrating way. I am rooting for Outriders to succeed as one of the best looter shooters, but right now the end game is going to get just as tedious as the previous end game content.

The Worldslayer expansion adds a lot of new gameplay mechanics but without enough new content to make it useful, making it a good expansion but doesn't justify its high price

With an expanded endgame, new difficulty tiers, and new story content, Worldslayer adds a lot to Outriders, even if none of the additions are mind-blowing.

Outriders Worldslayer doubles down on everything from the base game, both the good and the bad.

Outriders Worldslayer follows in the same vein of Outriders, quite literally: one year later, both its strenghts (tight gameplay, loot management) and flaws (poor enemy variety, lackluster boss design, weak plot) have stayed exactly the same. Very likely you'll enjoy this expansion if you liked the base game, but if you didn't this won't make you change your mind.

Outriders is a game that launched with an array of bugs, glitches, and crashes during its initial launch. It's probably the best time to jump in and play Outriders right now, especially after the free New Horizons update along with this massive Worldslayer DLC. The new expansion comes at a steep price point, but shines with its polished endgame content and loot pool. Sure, it can get repetitive, grindy, and tedious, but that shouldn't be a problem if you're into this type of game. Just make sure you have two buddies who are down to play with you because playing solo just isn't that fun.

‎Worldslayer takes all the good things about Outriders and tweaks and improves them. If you like frantic action, brutal confrontation, being a machine of destruction, then this is the time to go to Outriders. I think the main flaws of this game are its flat story and maybe the new ascension skill tree that gets boring from having so little short-term impact. And among the best is the new endgame content: the Tarya Gratar test.‎

Worldslayer might not justify its price tag in content, but it sure does make for fun. Although not many, the new content is enough to guarantee good hours of fun and a great return to Enoch.

Outriders Worldslayer brings more fun gun battles, new loot and perks, as well as the same minor annoyances.

Outriders Worldslayer is not a revolutionary expansion and lacks the capabilities to attract all those players who did not like the game last year.

While I think that Worldslayer is a step in the right direction, I just don’t know if its going to be enough to keep people playing in the long term.

Outriders: Worldslayer provides an exceedingly brief albeit intense story campaign, though its meat is clearly in the vastly improved endgame experience. The Trial of Tarya Gratar, the Apocalypse gear, and Ascension and PAX systems all contribute to a better, deeper endgame. Ultimately, though, the game plays exactly the same as the original Outriders and is unlikely to win over any new fans.

Worldslayer is a modest DLC that offers interesting content regarding the end-game mode, at the expense of a campaign that doesn't add anything new to People Can Fly's looter shooter.

The campaign for Worldslayer feels uncomfortably chaotic. It has the story beats of a great tale but doesn’t fully tell the story. If it was meant to deliver a sense of urgency there are aspects that could have been cut. I and many others who played see so much potential for it to have rivalled the narrative of the main game and it’s unfortunate that it is so short. Despite its shortcomings, all of the other new content and enhancements easily make up for it. This is Outriders the way it was meant to be. This is the power fantasy we want to feel in gaming.

Outriders: Worldslayer takes one of the most addictive games of 2021 and improves it in nearly every way, making it fun for newcomers and veterans alike.

Back in 2021, Outriders launched and I excitedly jumped on as soon as I was able to get it downloaded. I spent the good part of a week levelling up my Trickster build before fatigue took over. I didn’t finish the main story and occasionally I would jump back in for a day or two but there was never enough to keep me engaged. With the release of the Worldslayer DLC, I returned to explore all the new changes, but can it hold my interest longer this time?

Outriders: Worldslayer is a solid 8 or so hour expansion that adds a seemingly long and quite enjoyable endgame grind to what was already a solid title. With the base game on Game Pass, it is worth giving that a shot and if you like it just know that this expansion is available, and it’s damned good. It takes everything the main campaign has and dials it up to eleven in a brilliantly dumb-fun kinda way.

Ask yourself this: did you play Outriders simply for its campaign and then drop it, or did you push yourself through its expeditions, going as far as you could go? For those in the former camp, Worldslayer probably isn’t for you. At least not at full price, anyway. You’ll blast through the campaign in 10 hours or less and then be left twiddling your thumbs. For those enamoured with Outriders‘ unique brand of high-octane combat seeking to max out their characters and optimise their builds, however, Worldslayer should be considered a must-have.
