Evil West doesn’t bring significant innovations and has its issues, but it excels in fulfilling what games are meant to do: provide fun for the player. Its combat is extremely satisfying and filled with challenging moments, and when combined with the charismatic characters encountered throughout the campaign, it results in a simple yet enjoyable formula. While it may lack polish in some areas, the overall experience is solid.

What sets Evil West apart from its peers? Although the game's genre may be repetitive and its storyline may be a tale you've heard countless times, Evil West manages to stand out as a must-play title due to its exceptional gameplay. In a game, what could be more crucial than its gameplay? Despite the presence of a lackluster narrative and overused genres, the game compensates by offering a captivating and addictive gameplay experience. This is precisely what Evil West has accomplished.

Evil West feels like an Xbox 360 or PS3 game in the best posible way. Great action, tight controls, interesting story and more, makes this game the best surprise of 2022.

Evil West is a game worthy of 2022 visually but remains in the 90's when it comes to gameplay. It ruins a gripping story, an exciting concept, beautiful graphics and voiceovers with repetitive arena style fights and extremely linear gameplay. Wait for a sale if you want to nail some vampires to the wall.

Evil West’s biggest issues are in its technical problems. The game is incredibly fun but it’s marred by performance issues and just feels dated with simple level design.

If you are looking for something that mixes multiple genres – namely the Wild West, sci-fi, and horror – into an action game that feels a bit like the God of War reboot if only Kratos had guns, Evil West just might scratch your itch. Just do not expect a AAA game experience.

Evil West is unapologetically a game about gruff gunslingers ripping through gross nightmare monsters and that is exactly why I like playing games.

You should give Evil West a chance, just don't expect it to be a similar to other modern shooters that came out this year. What you should expect is a very dynamic gameplay that won't leave you bored even for one minute.

When I beat Evil West’s last fight and watched the final cutscene, I went to the main menu, took some notes, and immediately launched the New Game +. I then replayed the first two levels and part of the third. I just wanted more. It might be the fact that it feels like the games I grew up playing. It is an imperfect game. But I loved it and I think it is exactly what I’ve been wanting without realizing it. The up close and personal brutality of a third-person brawler, with the pattern analyzing of a Soulslike and the frenetic action of DOOM. Not to mention the western setting which I am on the record as loving. I have not had a game where I so wanted to immediately play a sequel in a long time. I so hope that we get one as I think this is a world worth exploring and characters worth revisiting -- especially if Flying Wild Hogs is given a bigger budget of which I very much think this franchise is deserving.

Evil West is a fun and charming action-packed shooter of a recently bygone era. If you wanted an alternative take on the wild west, you can’t go much wrong with Flying Wild Hogs' latest offering.

Evil West is a basic game for basic players. There are no taxing puzzles, no major hurdles to overcome, and no massive pull for me to replay it now it's done. While it can be semi-enjoyable in places, overall Evil West is a disappointingly unremarkable experience in my opinion.

Evil West tells a neat graphic novel story while engaging combat and progression drive you through a fascinating dark fantasy world.

Evil West is a fun, brutal, and frenetic game, blending B-movie humor and violence with an improbable western and horror twist. Despite good general and artistic premises, the gameplay is adrenaline-pumping but limited and relatively short, only slightly mitigated by online co-op and some variations. A double-A game that, despite showing some weaknesses, manages to entertain and suggest a future (hopefully not too distant) of additional content and new chapters.

Evil West is an extremely honest product. Unlike other titles that promise to bring smoky innovations, the Flying Wild Hog title simply wants to be a fun action adventure inspired by typical AA productions of previous video game generations. An accomplished goal, thanks to a sparkling combat system and a proudly B-movie horror appeal. Unfortunately, the excessive linearity of the level design and a technical compartment on which the crossgen nature weighs excessively prevent the project from reaching higher levels. With these understandings, buckle up and adjust your hats: the hunt for monstrosities in the Wild West has just begun.

Evil West is the kind of beautiful trash I wish we had more of. It’s a ridiculous game in service to a purpose no higher than smashing monsters to gloopy bits, and by God do I admire that. While at times combat balance is uneven, any such moment is made up for by a terrific weapon set, extravagant finishers, and an immediacy of offense that ensures the action never wavers.

Evil West‘s action provides an intense adrenaline rush of visceral action and gnarly finishers. It can be overly scripted at times- most fights always happen in very obvious arena-like areas and there is little to no interaction with the world. Evil West is a very dumb game that puts markers on what you are allowed to touch, but in spite of that- it is still a worthy guilty pleasure for its radical violence and spectacle.
