The online module of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: All-Star Battle R is effectively broken and useless. Everything feels way too slow and unresponsive. Matches will also end randomly or never happen at all. However, the local play works exactly as intended and the story mode is as entertaining as the goofy and boisterous manga that it is based on. At the end of the day, Araki's style and the strong JoJo flavour is what elevates this Tekken-like fighting game from being completely average.

Fighting games' fans will have to focus more on local multiplayer instead of online due to the infrastructure, which is a big blow.

JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: All-Star Battle R is a fast-paced fighting title that can be played solo or with others. Furthermore, it captures every essence of the franchise and capitalises on many of the much-loved characters. With interesting stage design and tough but enjoyable challenges to complete, this will be enjoyed by many gamers.

Fighting games are living in a resurgent time so it is awesome to see this game get a second lease on life. Having never played it, it was a pleasant surprise that is packed with a ton of solo content to keep me interested. This is all without having any attachment to the anime or characters themselves. It made me interested in the universe and I had a blast playing the game on all fronts. If you enjoy fighting games and maybe are not as deep into the FGC or tournament scene, this game packs plenty of options for casual and experienced players alike.

JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: All-Star Battle R is an excellent fighter that does bode its niche base well, and could potentially extend beyond that inviting more fans into its never-ending lore.

The best video game adaptation of the wildest manga property gets a better-than-average port. For Jojo's fans only, though.

In the same way that "Daniel Aço'zinho" took a delirious twenty-second beating or how the Mortal Queen user suffered with an accidental ambulance in his trunks, JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: All Star Battle R delivers worthy moments during one-page fights from Araki's works, always keeping the fighting video game context in mind. Not only does it come across as a product that breathes and exudes fanservice; the ultimate package for fans of the property, but also as an extremely competent and inviting fighter for novices (to a certain extent) without ever forgetting those who demand a greater challenge. I admit that All Star Battle R lacks rollback netcode, a robust story or a greater variety in offline modes, but it makes up for it in so many other areas that I only have one last suggestion: if you are not yet a fan of the franchise then it's time to give the anime and/or manga a chance, convert and try this title as a celebration of the thirty-fifth anniversary of the most bizarre Japanese adventure ever.

JoJo's Bizarre Adventure All Star Battle R is a simple fighting game that fans can enjoy without a doubt. It doesn't excel at innovation and feels ill-balanced on certain fronts. Bottom line, it's not a bad Fight game, but certainly not the best either.

Its online modes are bland, and its gameplay is really sluggish for modern fighting game standards, but the sheer amount of content and fan service make JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: All-Star Battle R a must-have for fans of this utterly ludicrous but endearing franchise.

JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: All-Star Battle R is a much better experience compared to the original title. The modes feel more tightly put together, the character roster has been expanded greatly, and the fighting feels more involved, making the experience much more fun than in the 2016 offering. Unless you're primarily an online player, this is well worth checking out.

Overall JoJo is a pretty solid fighter and a pretty good upgraded port to boot. Some may find the price somewhat prohibitive given the semi-bare bones modes on offer combined with the fact that we are ultimately talking about a port of a niche near decade old fighter, but if you can look past that, there's fun to be had. Jo Jo Manga/Anime fans should definitely be giving this a go.

Although Jojo's Bizarre Adventure: All-Star Battle R is a great fighting game that Jojo fans should not miss, it missed the opportunity to fully reach its potential due to poor netcode selection and some shortcomings on the online side.

JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: All-Star Battle R is a much better fighting game than it was on its original release. The various gameplay tweaks and the increase to 60fps on current-gen and PC bring this underrated title to life.  Unfortunately lackluster online multiplayer and lack of new characters do knock this down somewhat, but if you haven't already owned the original and are newly into JoJo you'd be downright bizarre to sit this title out.

Despite offering fantastic fan service, great visuals, and a host of improvements, Jojo's Bizarre Adventure All Star Battle R is a fighting game that falls short of its potential.

Expanding the modes, adding new characters, more customization options, and improved netcode would do wonders for All-Star Battle R. As it stands, this game is still a love letter to JoJo and worth picking up for fans of the franchise or anyone with fighting game chops looking to branch out.

JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: All Star Battle R feels held back not by the failings of its design, but the support of its fundamental features. With any luck, these issues are just the growing pains before greater days.

Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure: All-Star Battle R is a solid remaster of the original game, packed with brand new features and characters and is a real love letter to fans of Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure. The overall art style is very reminiscent of Hirohiko Araki’s original manga and has plenty of nods to the original manga and anime thrown in that fans of the series will really appreciate.

Jojo's Bizarre Adventure: All-Star Battle R may not be a 100% new product, but it manages to kill the longing for fans who were bitter about the previous title in the series. Even leaving those who don't know the characters in the dark, its performance improvements make it a great fighting game, with a varied cast and a lot of charisma.

Having JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: All-Star Battle-R as an updated remaster of a classic in 2022 is a good thing, with the refined combat and huge roster being huge pluses. Still, it could have been a much more satisfying product if the online components were given the same attention to detail. While it may not match up against the best of modern fighting games out there, fans will get much more out of JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: All-Star Battle-R, and nothing else quite matters when you are having a good time.

JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: All-Star Battle R is a great experience for fans already familiar with the original series and those that are jumping into the fighter as a result. There is a lot to love in that regard as the personality from the original manga is in full force, but there's much less of that "bizarre adventure" that is also at the core of Araki's series. The fighting has been improved, and there are plenty of characters to mess around with, but more fighting does not always equal more fun in this case.
