Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII Reunion is a top tier remaster of a flawed and often comically awkward spinoff. But for all of its angsty melodrama, the story of Zack Fair is an endearingly daft tale that only adds to the world of Final Fantasy VII.

Solid and definitely have an audience. There could be some hard-to-ignore faults, but the experience is fun.

Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII Reunion rescues one of the best PSP videogames, with a remaster that looks like a remake and generates frictions that are hard to ignore. A half-baked work that, yes, is a good opportunity to explore the past of some of the most interesting characters of Midgar.

Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII – Reunion is much more than a simple remaster, thanks to Square-Enix embracing Unreal Engine 4, offering new high-definition scenarios, textures, and polygons, along with a fully orchestrated soundtrack and new voice acting, making it almost a remake. However, the rest remains faithful to the original, from animations to the corridor-like map structure, interrupted by connection points due to the hardware of the time, though now lacking the loading times. Playing Crisis Core today is somewhat controversial due to the aged gameplay and the story's timing, especially considering the upcoming Final Fantasy VII Rebirth. Technically, it's well done, much more than usual, showing the saga's love for its fans and Square-Enix. Still, it's not a title for everyone, recommended especially for those who finished FFVII back in the day and missed it or want to replay it. New players might be better off waiting to avoid spoilers.

Crisis Core -Final Fantasy VII- Reunion is a masterful remaster of a little more than adequate game. Not a bad game, in fact it is still a decent action RPG that will keep you entertained for about 20-30 hours of play. However, in terms of substance and narrative responsibility it leaves much to be desired.

Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII Reunion offers a polished new coat of paint for a game that, sometimes, shows its age, but the amount of work that went into the remaster is definitely praiseworthy.

Crisis Core -Final Fantasy VII- Reunion is a much superior version, especially in audiovisual aspects, and its artistic and musical style is in tune with the Final Fantasy VII remake. On the other hand, the gameplay deserved a deeper overhaul, as well as more content. Despite having little appeal on its own, the game is recommended to fans of Final Fantasy VII, as it adds weight to its narrative experience.

Crisis Core -Final Fantasy VII- Reunion is an entertaining spinoff with action packed combat, but at this point it's showing its age a little.

For the ongoing Final Fantasy VII re-examination, which Square Enix has officially dubbed the Compilation of Final Fantasy VII, Crisis Core feels like required reading. Its place in the larger story is important and will likely grow in significance moving forward, but making your way through those story moments sometimes feels like a school assignment. Reunion is a well-executed remake of the 2007 game that delivers fun combat alongside a stilted story with an interesting and narratively important final act. If you plan on starting or continuing the Final Fantasy VII Remake journey, make sure to do your homework.

Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII Reunion is a good remaster of a prequel that really shows its age in terms of narrative structure and gameplay design. The work done by Square Enix is commendable, with significant improvements made to the graphics and the combat system, but the experience as a whole remains a bit shaky, and we would have definitely preferred a full-fledged remake rather than a remaster that doesn't hold up too well.

Crisis Core Reunion is a very good remaster of a portable game, which, apart from intervening quite well in the audiovisual aspect, manages to successfully modernize its combat system, making it accessible in today's era. It's not perfect, its age and portable origins show (especially with the limited maps), however, it's quite enjoyable and will certainly satisfy fans of Final Fantasy, and JRPGs in general, who don't have 100 free hours to get to the finale.

Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII Reunion is a terrific remaster that brings this must-play prequel into the modern era. Almost everything that I hoped would be updated was given attention, including a more fluid battle system and combat, cleaner UI, high-quality textures, lighter controls, and (to my everlasting surprise) an untouched story that doesn't take any daringly divisive risks like Remake.

An excellent master of a flawed old handheld game, with somewhat fewer warts.

While Crisis Core‘s shorter length is surprising, given the depth of the story it tells, the hooks it digs in are well worth unearthing. The trio tale of Angeal, Sephiroth, and Genesis is a relatively hidden side chapter of the FF7 Compilation, but it provides a deep, emotional core that will likely resonate in Rebirth and beyond. Crisis Core: Final Fantasy 7 Reunion is an essential chapter in the modern Final Fantasy 7 mythos – and the most important spin-off in the entire series.

Final Fantasy:Crisis Core Reunion is one of the best remasters I've ever played. With a completely overhauled look for today market, refined gameplay and a renowned soundtrack, it's easily one of the best RPGs of the year. Despite some details that could be worked better, this is a title that will truly delight fans and give due prominence to a great character in this world.
