It isn’t the most complex or riveting gameplay loop, but then again the popularity of titles like Muse Dash show how simplicity and polish walk hand in hand, and now Rhythm Sprout is furtger proof of this. Recommended to all rhythm game fans looking for a more humorous take on the genre.

Rhythm Sprout is a fun game, but it lacks polish in important points of its experience. It's a title that certainly brought some fun and catchy beats during the adventure. It's recommended for those looking for a simple rhythm game to occupy themselves for a few hours.

Nitpicks aside, Rhythm Sprout serves as a brilliantly executed delight in the rhythm game genre that delivers an experience as polished as its AAA competitors despite being a debut title from a small indie team. Developer SURT should be incredibly proud of what they've accomplished here, and I can't wait to see even more from them in the future.

Overall though, I had a fun time with this game, and the additional EX levels will keep me busy for a while. The game has enough content to entertain you for hours, with tons of memorable music in a bunch of different genres. Controls are responsive, though I wish there was more refinement in how the game handles its visual cues. The humor doesn’t always land, but there are enough visual gags here to get a laugh out of you. It’s easy to learn and hard to master, with plenty of challenging bosses to dance with.

Rhythm Sprout is a seriously fresh serving of beats. It’s definitely recommended, on the understanding that you know what you’re in for. The music doesn’t stop often to rest, meaning neither will you, and while the gameplay seems barebones, it knows how to make itself just as involved as a more complex rhythm game. There’s absolutely something to simpler rhythm games as a fun romp for a couple minutes here and there, and I think that’s a precedent that was pushed well with Rhythm Sprout.

Rhythm Sprout: Sick Beats & Bad Sweets is a unique and electrifying rhythm adventure. Pushing buttons in time with the songs is engaging, mainly because of the good diversity of sequences and the well-thought-out challenge. A soundtrack with varied musical genres and a bizarre, but charming and humorous setting, complement the experience. Some problems get in the way, such as notes too close together and repetitive command sequences, but, in general, the result is positive.

Though the short run-time, on top of its overused hit-and-miss humor, may work against it, what Rhythm Sprout lacks in unique aesthetic or visual identity, it more than makes up for with a soundtrack as much a gameplay loop that's both enjoyable and easy to make repeat trips back to.

With a reasonably-low price point, and a nice variety of musical tracks, this is a humble rhythm winner if you’re ready to be challenged

If you’re a fan of rhythm games or simply love quirky adventures, consider Rhythm Sprout an essential purchase. This is a game that has snuck up on us from nowhere but has thoroughly rocked our worlds. Combining comedy with rhythm-based gameplay, it’s tickled our funny bones and tested our timing while also making us tap our feet and bob our heads. And we’ll certainly be revisiting it for a long time to come.

There’s nothing inherently bad about Rhythm Sprout, nothing that makes it a deal-breaker. Sure, it gets repetitive after a while, but considering its level-based structure, you can easily play it in short bursts and have quite a bit of fun with it. It’s a very competent rhythm game with cutesy visuals, a decent gameplay loop, an adequate difficulty curve, and a sizeable amount of content.

Rhythm games are often evaluated on their complexity, soundtrack, and replayability. Rhythm Sprout succeeds in just about all of those categories while also capturing players' attention with some of the funniest writing and story I've seen in a recent game. Despite not taking itself too seriously, Rhythm Sprout is a treat for multiple audiences, especially console players who lack a good rhythm game to get their feet wet into the best of the genre. I sincerely, dare I say desperately, hope that SURT does more with the Rhythm Sprout universe, as it's currently one of the better (if not one of the best) rhythm titles I've played in recent memory.

Rhythm Sprout is a challenging, fast paced, action/rhythm game that will keep you on your toes. Everything from the story, to the characters and the original soundtrack is awesome. While Rhythm Sprout is not for the faint of heart, if you're looking for something with great music, that's upbeat, entertaining and quick to play, I highly recommend picking up Rhythm Sprout.

It does speak to where Rhythm Sprout‘s interests in difficulty tend to lie, though. It’s a game that has a clear interest in providing challenge wherever possible, and it’s very good at doing that. It thankfully doesn’t forget approachability in that pursuit, but your mileage may vary on its effectiveness. If you’re able to put up with some of the more demanding levels, though, Rhythm Sprout is worth your time.

Rhythm Sprout does excel in what it wants to do, which is to provide an action-oriented rhythmic experience that boasts a decent story championed by a protagonist and plenty of colourful, absurd characters that will more than likely elicit laughter from its audience. While beginners will likely have a harder time, genre veterans will have a great time rocking to the beat.
