Turnip Boy Robs a Bank is overall a great experience and a must-play for those who did get to play the prequel. The game is as good as the first and builds upon what the other set out. There are far more gameplay aspects to the game, such as RNG, pickups, and upgrades, but at its core, it is still just Turnip Boy. The game never rushes you, and it never overstays its welcome. Its jokes are funny, witty, and self-aware, and the gameplay is an addictive loop that will keep you occupied for its entire runtime.

Turnip Boy Robs a Bank was an absolute joy to play, and I’m thankful it made its way to Xbox Game Pass. It runs incredibly well, aside from some minor lagging during a boss fight. The game may only be on a few platforms right now, but if it’s anything like its predecessor, it will be on nearly every device soon enough. My total playtime was around five hours each session, with the second time reaching 100% completion. If you enjoyed Turnip Boy Commits Tax Evasion, you’ll enjoy Turnip Boy Robs a Bank. Or, like me, you may even like its sequel much more than the original, due to its genre change-up and updated gameplay mechanics. I had an amazing time playing Turnip Boy Robs a Bank and it is likely to end up on my 2024 Game of The Year list in December. Heck, I may even play it a few more times by then.

Turnip Boy Robs a Bank is a fantastic sequel to the first game and a great rougelite with short gameplay that both new players to the genre and veterans would enjoy. The gameplay is polished, and the controls are easy to learn, allowing players to get into the rhythm of shaking down other veggies for their hard-earned cash as Turnip Boy easily.

The newly added roguelite elements in Turnip Boy Robs a Bank make for a lengthier, more replayable experience that kept me engaged throughout. The transition to roguelite gameplay may seem somewhat off-putting for players who expected a more Zelda-like adventure akin to the first game. However, even with its shift in gameplay direction, the sequel remains faithful to the original with its humorous tone and cute aesthetic while offering a fresh experience for both new and returning players.

If it wasn’t clear already, I love Turnip Boy Robs A Bank. I already thought Turnip Boy Commits Tax Evasion was an outstanding game, so being able to build on that with a fast-paced roguelite adventure, with an excellent gameplay loop which also pokes fun on the horrible depths of capitalism, who would have thought it would be so much fun?

Turnip Boy Robs a Bank is nothing like its predecessor as it has its timer mechanism and isn’t as “open-world” but it’s a really fast paced game with a lot of humor that you should consider picking up.

Turnip Boy Robs a Bank is a fantastic roguelike entry that’ll retrain the way you’re used to playing games in the genre. Packed with great humor, simple but fun mechanics, and a dead-eyed killer turnip, there’s not a whole lot more you could ask for from Turnip Boy Robs a Bank.

Turnip Boy Robs a Bank is the sequel the fans deserve. It’s impressive how they’ve improved almost all aspects from the predecessor, including the more enhanced combat and fights that become more immersive and exciting and a much better adventure with likable characters. Who knew that you could learn so much about heists from food-based characters and seem so innocent at the same time? One would hope a sequel will be in the works in the future.

Turnip Boy Robs a Bank is a very good thing. Adorable, silly, and quite funny indeed, this roguelite might be a big genre shift from its predecessor but it’s just as lovable. It hurries itself along a bit too much, but the fast pace of gameplay and swift progress at least ensures it never gets dull.

Turnip Boy Robs A Bank understood what it wanted to be, an extension of the Turnip Boy world with refreshing new roguelite elements to spice up the combat. Everything from the bank setting, to the soundtrack, to the characters both new and old, hold up to the excellence that was the first game. However, some points have to be shaved off for the game's ending, which feels drawn out and tedious.
