All that being said, for as derivative as it would initially appear to be, Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty manages to result in something remarkably unique. There are some rough patches along the way but the overall package presents a fun blend of ideas. In a genre full of mimicry, Wo Long strives to bring its own unique flavor to the table, and when it works, it works very well.

Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty Complete Edition for the Nintendo Switch 2 may not be perfect, but it is still a fantastic game. If you never played the original game or its DLC, this is still a fantastic way to experience this title. Obviously, with the handheld version there are some major cutbacks in the visual department that don’t feel like a tradeoff to the performance. Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty Complete Edition is still a great way to experience the game if this is your first time.

Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty remains a satisfying, parry-driven action RPG with deep combat and substantial content, but its Switch 2 port compromises visual quality too heavily for its performance targets. The 60 FPS mode looks rough, while 30 FPS offers a cleaner image, making this a functional rather than impressive conversion.

One mistake many critics make in their analysis is judging a work by what it could have been rather than by what it actually is. If you go in expecting a "Souls-like" experience, you are unlikely to appreciate Wo Long. But if you view it as a dark fantasy take on Koei’s greatest strengths, blended with elements from various Team Ninja titles? It becomes very hard to put the controller down.

Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty – Complete Edition is, without a doubt, the ultimate form of Team Ninja's soulslike series. It's just a shame that no attempt has been made to make this edition more accessible for a new player and to explain the game's complexities more clearly. Still, if you wanted things easy, then you wouldn't want Wo Long.

Although Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty Excells in combat and bossfights, classic Team Ninja issues, from repetitive mission design to sporadic balancing issues are still present. It's apparent that Wo Long can't reach the quality or success of Nioh franchise, but that being said, it's still a quite solid soulslike experience. on the other hand, DLCs provide a decent experience on top of the main game, though it goes without saying that you shouldn't expect anything groundbreaking.

Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty is truly an excellent title that manages to offer truly fun and dynamic gameplay with many facets, which however lacks in some aspects such as the narrative.

Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty is quite the adventure. The dark fantastical take on the three kingdoms conflict is exciting to experience while also being tough as nails. The balance struck between difficulty and will to push forwards is just about right to keep players invested throughout the quite substantial runtime of the game. That coupled with the online and the excellent time that is experimenting with character builds mean that Wo Long is well really quite long!

This souls-like is a phenomenal addition to the genre. If you then consider the included DLC, the online action, and the interesting morale system, it offers plenty of food for thought. On top of this, I liked the occasionally forgiving mechanics that juxtapose some of the harsh realities of these titles. Subsequently, I love it and I recommend buying it here!

Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty Complete Edition is a complete package and a particularly good introduction to the soulslike genre. Unfortunately, the game feels a bit outdated here and there with the individual levels. Fortunately, the game plays well, the bosses look very cool and the game gives the player a lot of extra options to defeat the challenging bosses. You will encounter few surprises here, especially in the level design, and with the expansions you will have to put in quite a few hours to complete the game. Team Ninja will release Rise of the Ronin at the beginning of this year and this is a nice game in the same style to pick up in the meantime.

Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty Complete Edition embarks on an ambitious yet flawed Souls-Like journey. While the engaging combat system, captivating RPG elements, and impressive aesthetics shine through, they are hindered by a lack of difficulty balance, a rushed narrative conclusion, and notable technical issues. It is imperative for the developers to address these performance issues promptly, elevating the game to the standard expected with its price tag and ensuring a more enjoyable and stable experience for players eager to immerse themselves in the world of Wo Long.
