With hardly any changes in gameplay and development, the Brothers remake manages to offer a bigger show thanks to Unreal Engine 5, although not without technical problems at launch, such as notable firecracks and clipping, at least on PS5. If you played it back in the day, you're not going to find much new, and the extras and novelties are a bit lazy.

Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons was hardly in need of a remake. However, replaying the game more than a decade after its debut, where every inch has been beautifully crafted anew, has been a delightful experience, and one we can finally share with a second player. We just wish there was more of it.
Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons Remake is everything we hoped it would be. Avantgarden and 505 Games gave us a remake created in Unreal Engine 5 that is completely faithful to the story, which remains intact. With a wonderful soundtrack, a new cooperative mode and breathtaking scenarios, the story of these brothers is worth reliving.

This retelling of the 2013 game stays largely faithful to the source material and adds some valuable improvements. If you've already experienced the original I think you can sit this one out; but newcomers should experience this remake at least once.

The control scheme is still pretty unique, and a rousing success in single-player, but the co-op mode comes with an asterisk. While it's a welcome accessibility inclusion, it fundamentally alters the experience, and not really for the better. Throw in some technical woes and you're left with a remake that doesn't quite feel up to snuff in a modern setting. However, the core game was incredible for its time, and ultimately remains a moving tale in this refreshed version.

Just as it was ten years ago, Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons is a succinct, yet economical, adventure that wastes no time in delivering a beautiful and devastating co-op experience that, through this remake, can now be shared with another-even if that dilutes the game's novel concept as a result.
Brothers ticks all of the same boxes of its 2013 predecessor, with the same powerful story beats, simple control system and stunning upgraded graphics, but fans of the original will be left mourning what could have been if more had been added to its luscious and varied world.
From its incredible story and how well it tells it to its wonderfully realized setting and more, all of Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons' biggest strengths are present and accounted for in the remake. Given how faithful of a recreation it is though, those who own the original will likely wonder if the remake is worth a purchase.
You can tell it was not necessary, and you'd probably be right, but Brothers remake is a love letter to one of the most heartwarming titles of the last decade, and this version is the one new players shoud look to if they're willing to give this game a try.

We often regard remakes and remasters as a corporate form of quick profit, but every now and then a unique title like Brothers Remake appears unexpectedly and you finally recognize what a true videogame labor of love is. It's a project created with passion and true dedication of the authors to recreate something resembling the original as closely as possible and yet sprinkle here and there a little bit of originality and tiny improvements. Even though this tale of two sons is more than ten years old, this remake shows that it is still worth telling!

Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons Remake feels like a missed opportunity to build on the unique concept of the original game. It could have been expanded with new scenes and situations to provide fresh new challenges and keep players on their toes. Given the success of A Way Out and It Takes Two, more work could have been done to make its co-op mode much more intuitive and enticing, too. As it is, it’s successful in beautifying the original game but nothing more, unfortunately.
Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons Remake does a decent job of keeping the magic of the original title, while making many improvements in the process. from the addition of local co-op to massive improve in visuals. Although there were room for more improvements, it still delivers a delightful experience from start to finish.
