Hades II Reviews
Like the late "Rowdy" Roddy Piper used to say, when I thought I had the answers, Hades 2 changed the question. Heck, I might still discover something mind-blowing even after this review is posted. I look forward to seeing it. There's always something new to find in the House of Hades, a house that's eternal and yet never gets old.
Hades 2 is an iterative improvement on the old formula. And the old formula was pretty much perfect. If you’ve been hoping for more Hades, you simply can’t pass up on Hades 2.
Believe it or not, we struggled to find any flaws in Supergiant Games' latest offering. Hades 2 is a masterful game in every way: the sheer volume of content is breathtaking, the character designs are a feast for the eyes, and the gameplay boasts a depth that puts most roguelikes currently on the market to shame. So if you enjoy the genre, you simply have no excuse: you absolutely must play it.

Hades II is a triumph in every way, and the degree to which the studio has built on the original makes it feel like we have gotten two sequels in one.
It's unclear whether Hades II was made for the rogue-like genre or the other way around, as it was built to merge with the genre. After each new attempt, your character will improve, and the story will enrich itself, and you'll restart either to get the resource you're missing, or to try to go further, or to try to find out more. This game is fantastic, and yet making a sequel to Hades was very complicated, as it seemed to be self-sufficient in every way. A great success, a fantastic game, too, in every way.

Just as The Odyssey complements The Iliad, Hades II complements its predecessor, proving itself to be not only a fantastic sequel but also a must play title that yet again defines the genre.

Hades II is now one of THE best roguelikes ever made. A stunning sequel that builds on every part of the first one, with more in-depth combat, more lore, and an unforgettable style.
Hades 2's art is breathtaking, its characters are captivating, the combat is fast, fun, endlessly varied, and tactical, and the music is spectacular.
Despite some stumbles in its opening hours, Hades 2 blooms with flexible combat and unforgettable characters.
As for myself, I will probably be playing a little bit to familiarize myself with it. I’ll be waiting for the full game to come out to really dive into it, get the fully polished experience because that’s going to be amazing. Supergiant Games did absolutely fantastic with Hades, so I can’t wait to see what they do with Hades 2. The quality of the game is there, its value, and the game plays so well it doesn’t make sense it’s in Early Access.
Supergiant's first ever sequel may feel very comfortable and familiar, but Hades' best weapon remains the power of surprise.
While you are experiencing a grand journey across an uncompromising depiction of Greek mythology, it is the small moments in Hades 2 that shine brightest. Intimate conversations between old friends or bittersweet reunions with long-lost family members as the moon of Selene hangs daintily overhead. Putting aside slaughtering demons and becoming a witch so powerful that not even titans can stop you, these are what make Hades 2 so special. If Supergiant is now destined to leave this universe behind, it goes out on the highest note possible.
There's a huge degree of skill expression even amid the most chaotic encounters.
Hades II is an ambitious expansion of all the ideas that came before it, balancing them beautifully to create one of the best roguelites on the market even in its incomplete state.
A fun-loving follow-up shakes up the underworld without fouling the Hades formula.
Supergiant Games is five-for-five with Hades II, a huge, triumphant sequel that manages to diverge mechanically and offer more challenges and variety than its predecessor. It helps that it's nearly faultless on Switch 2 in particular.Sometimes there's a bit too much going on, and in shooting for a bigger, more tragic story, I think it's lost a bit of heart. But, quite frankly, I don't want time to stop because if it does, I won't be able to play Hades II anymore.
It feels incredible to play and looks like it’ll be a bigger, deeper, more personal adventure, and I can’t wait to see how deep Melinoe’s quest takes her.
Hades 2 carefully sandwiches more nuance between the original roguelike’s kinetic combat, gorgeous visuals, and heartfelt narrative. With each end comes an opportunity to clear an obstacle, deepen a bond, and inch closer to thwarting Chronos.
Topping the original Hades was a damn near impossible feat, but Supergiant Games pulled it off. While it still has some of the accessibility issues of its predecessor, Hades 2 manages to improve upon the combat, world-building, and content of the first game, making Melinoe’s journey stand out. It may not surprise or shock Hades fans with originality, but it upped the stakes in a way that makes it a must-play game.
