Silent Hill 2 Reviews
Team Bloober have somehow managed to increase the tension that the original Team Silent founded down all those years ago. Carefully editing out the most frustrating parts and upgrading it to suit modern audiences whilst still giving returning fans something new to encounter. Some sequences and puzzles may feel slow or deliberately cumbersome but there are great accessibility options for all types of players to help makes things easier. This is the ultimate way to play a Silent Hill game for everyone and whatever comes next in this series will find that the Silent Hill 2 Remake is a tough act to follow.
The remake of the legendary Silent Hill 2 faced a difficult task to not fall short of the original, and it succeeded. You can enjoy the original story, without fear, in a new graphics coat and with modern game mechanics, which don't do anything to ruin the experience.

The Silent Hill 2 Remake is a labor of love, and it shows. Bloober Team has managed to honor the legacy of one of the greatest survival horror games of all time while introducing it to a new generation of players. Its stunning visuals, expanded story, and impeccable sound design make it a must-play for fans of the genre.
In recent years, remakes have been held to significantly higher standards, and remaking something like Silent Hill 2 is a thankless job that could never satisfy everyone. And somehow, the Bloober Team managed to do precisely that. The game retains, almost word for word and room for room, everything that made the original so timeless and legendary and promises precisely the same experience it did all those years ago. At the same time, though, it's expanded to include entirely new locations or altered puzzles. Everything, however, completely respects the original, and I'm not afraid to say that when it comes to remaking an old game into a new one, Silent Hill 2 from Bloober Team sets a new bar.

Silent Hill 2 is an almost perfect game, now even more enhanced after two decades, but it might be a tough pill to swallow for modern gamers. With its old-school execution and design faithful to the original, it’s hard to call the game ideal by today’s standards. However, when the original was released, it defined perfect survival horror—a quality you’ll find in the remake as well, but only if you know where to look.

Silent Hill 2 remake is a success on all counts. Bloober Team has just consolidated its mastery of psychological horror. The game's lifespan is also excellent, as you can count on around 15 hours if you take the time to explore. Whether it's the detail of the environments, the quality of the soundtrack, the general atmosphere, the deep storyline or the monsters, each more frightening than the last, the game excels. Whether you've played the original or not, I recommend this game to everyone (if, at least, you don't mind exploring this cursed city).

Silent Hill 2 Remake has not only managed to honor the legacy of its predecessor but has elevated it to new technical and narrative standards. With a nightmare-inducing atmosphere, an emotionally gripping story, and well-balanced puzzles, this title has everything you could ask for in a survival horror game. While there are some aspects that could be improved, particularly on the technical side, the overall result is outstanding. If you’re a fan of the original, this remake is a must-play horror experience. If you missed it back in the day, now is the perfect opportunity to experience one of the best survival horror games ever made. Despite a few technical details that could be polished, Silent Hill 2 Remake is a well-rounded game that knows how to keep you hooked, uneasy, and completely immersed in its oppressive atmosphere.

Despite all of my trepidations, Bloober Team have exceeded expectations with their remake of Silent Hill 2, but there is still some work to do to push the game’s quality as far as possible... Regardless, this adaptation of Silent Hill 2 is brilliant and captures the overall feeling and tone of the tragedy of James Sunderland in a way that is commendable on nearly all accounts.
Bravo! Standing ovation, with Bloober Team at the forefront, receiving well-deserved applause after months of backlash that ultimately proved unfounded. Silent Hill 2 Remake is not only a fantastic game, but it’s (especially) an excellent reimagining of the most beloved entry in the series and one of the best horror games—period—ever to hit the market. The stakes were high, as evidenced by the initial skepticism around the reveal, but joy is in order as the Polish team has masterfully navigated this tricky terrain of memories and emotions. Every detail reflects the developers’ love for the original material, creating an unforgettable experience. These are the remakes that make sense to exist, with no place for robotic dinosaurs or teenage slashers.

For fans of the original who want the same experience but shinier, this is an unmitigated triumph, and for newcomers it’s the best way to experience one of gaming’s greatest horror stories.
Silent Hill 2 Remake is a fantastic reimagining of the original 2001 classic with a tremendous atmosphere and great voice acting but a greater focus on combat and enemy encounters can get quite repetitive towards the end.

Bloober Team’s Silent Hill 2 remake (2024) stays deeply faithful to the original, while adding meaningful expansions at key moments. The narrative is still a tearjerker that grips you tightly, often making you question what you see, and the audiovisual quality is phenomenal. It is still our special place.

The remake of Silent Hill 2 is a genuine masterpiece. While there are some technical issues here and there, Bloober Team did an exceptional job with the resurrected title's story, voice acting, gameplay, and visuals. Additionally, the attention to detail on display throughout the entire experience makes it a must-play for both returning fans as well as those who are playing Silent Hill 2 for the first time.
The Silent Hill 2 remake is a magnificent work, the result of a development process that not only pays homage to its origins but also strives to expand and enrich them while maintaining their defining aspects.

Bloober Team has succeeded in creating a good remake of a horror classic that respects the original in the most important aspects, but expands it where it makes sense and doesn't change the core ideas.

The Silent Hill 2 Remake is an absolute marvel. It’s ability to remain faithful to just about everything about the original whilst also feeling fresh and exciting is astounding.
Remaking Silent Hill 2 seemed like a thankless and impossible task, and we imagine it was by no means easy, but Bloober Team pulled it off by modernizing a classic of the genre without distorting, rather making it shine in its own light, what made it so special and beloved by fans. The combat - if a tad "heavy" and not always immediate - works great, the already excellent narrative plot has been expanded and is even more harrowing and emotional, the environmental puzzles are rewarding and never become redundant or frustrating, all underpinned by a horrifying, claustrophobic, terrifying and incredibly immersive atmosphere, further enhanced by phenomenal voice acting and stunningly realistic visuals. You will be frightened and have goosebumps, we guarantee, but you will want more and more (although the backtracking is sometimes a bit frustrating and tedious) until you reach the end credits of this disturbing and profound psychological masterpiece, without a shadow of a doubt, among the best of the last decade. Thank you Bloober Team for bringing this 2001 classic back among us!

Silent Hill 2 Remake is a successful recreation by developer Bloober Team, bringing a 23-year-old classic back to life with a whole new look. By staying true to the original while adding new content, the team has created a game that is worthwhile for both newcomers and long-time fans of the series. Long-time fans appreciate the essence of Silent Hill — the slow-burning horror that focuses more on fear, anxiety, and that overwhelming sense of hopelessness rather than a focus on just shooting through monsters, preserved in this remake. However, this experience demands some patience, as this is a game for those who appreciate atmospheric, immersive, psychological horror, along with lots of puzzle-solving, and subtle world-building within the story.
Bloober Team’s Silent Hill 2 is a AAA masterpiece of psychological horror, that doesn't concede even an inch of the oppressiveness and bleakness of the original manifestation. A project that was met with much skepticism, critique and whining, triumphantly brings the series back from the slumber it has been in for the past 12 years and it is a fine example of how to make a modern take while keeping the genre's hallmarks intact.
