What could have been an overstuffing of gameplay styles old and new has quite literally turned out to be a jamboree of a good time for Mario’s most chaotic franchise. A few unbalanced mini-games and over-talkative tutorials aside, Super Mario Party Jamboree strikes a good balance between giving players options with how they’d like to play while also providing a good sprinkling of board game twists – most obviously through the new brilliant Jamboree Buddy system. If you’ve been previously left disillusioned by previous Mario Party games on Nintendo Switch, this is easily the best entry on the platform, guaranteed to give family and friends a fun but frenetic time.

Jamboree may not be about to hit the tournament circuit, but its very recognition of demand for a Mario Party with game balance is encouraging. Its basic game rules preserve series norms in all their highs and lows, while its motion-based gimmick modes offer nostalgic throwbacks to the wrist-twisting game designs of the Wii. But it’s the overtures to a more tactile, grounded, skill-rewarding board game experience that indicate developer Nintendo Cube’s interest in a future, and not just a past, for the genre of party mayhem.

More generous, unpredictable and flamboyant than ever, Super Mario Party Jamboree is an essential to liven up your evenings with friends or family. This eighteenth episode breaks away from some of its predecessors' dubious choices to focus on the essentials: effective mini-games and more than ever, Wild parts that gain a little bit in rhythm and content generous enough not to tire those who would only take it out on rare occasions. With a few game modes to top it off, some quite ingenious, others more gadgets, Super Mario Party Jamboree has the merit of varying the pleasures. It is certainly not a revolution, but it remains an excellent party-game that will cheer up without problem your evenings and offer you some laughter.

If your party guests are already used to Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, Super Mario Party Jamboree is the best option for this holiday season. It's a fun experience that will keep everyone having a memorable time, and a fantastic way to send off the Switch in what will likely be its last holiday in the spotlight.

Will the Switch catch the GameCube for the number of Mario Party entries on a single system? Probably not. But if Jamboree is the last on the hybrid, it's a great game to go out on. It's a celebration of boards, and "Pro Rules" go a long way in making previous series' complaints no longer valid. While there are a few minor issues, let's face it: this game will sell millions, and deservedly so. Imposter Bowser and his boss minions don't stand a chance, whether you're a party of one, a group of local friends, or an online crew. Collecting stars hasn't been this much fun in years.

Mario Party Jamboree harkens back to an older time for Mario Party while adding new game modes, courses, mini-games, and characters. With 110 mini-games with different types of motion controls, rhythm games, and more, you and your friends will have a great time learning all the new stuff while enjoying two re-created older courses. If you've taken a break from Mario Party for any reason in the past six years, Jamboree is the one to get you back into the party.

Super Mario Party Jamboree continues the great trend that the past two Switch titles in the series started, and the new modes help make it stand out from the rest. It's not perfect, but there are plenty of ways to kill time and have fun with friends or online rivals while you play.

Priced at $80 AUD, you know what you’re getting into with Super Mario Party Jamboree. While Nintendo die-hards will find fun in the single-player mode, most of us will pick this up alongside a handful of friends and a slab of beers. If you need to freshen up your party game experience, this one should be a good fit.

Super Mario Party Jamboree lives up to it's name in practically every way. It's equal parts lavish and boisterous, offering up a selection of boards with novel and fun gimmicks that make it a constant joy to come back to. Adding a wide variety of ways to play, including heaps of customisable rules, only sweetens the deal. Without a doubt, Super Mario Party Jamboree is Mario Party at it's best.

Super Mario Patry Jamboree is the best installment in the series. I’m writing this review between levels, and I can’t wait to jump into another one. I’m certain that with a steep decline of the amount of party games, this one will stand out and become as popular as it deserves.

Super Mario Party Jamboree is yet another quality entry in the series, containing a generous number of new boards, minigames, and fresh game modes. The new Jamboree buddy mechanic adds a much-needed element of chaos, and the game boards contain interesting events and hazards. Its similarities to the previous two Mario Party titles for the Switch are starting to feel a little long in the tooth, but that won't stop you from having a grand old time. I just hope Nintendo spices things up even more for the next one!

It doesn't rewrite the Mario Party rules, but it refines them. Highly recommended if you have 90 minutes to play with friends and irritate each other!

Mario Party has been a multiplayer mainstay for me since right back with the original on N64. To this day the first three are on high rotation thanks to the N64 Online app. It’s really lovely to see Nintendo find creative form with Super Mario Party Jamboree by producing something that largely focuses on the basics. The new maps are excellent, the range of minigames is a delight, the bonus modes are fun, and the energy is playful and joyous. I went into this thinking it would be Nintendo’s equivalent to filler leading into the Christmas season. Turns out it was much more than that and this is a major project that everyone that enjoys multiplayer should pick up.

It may be the biggest in the history of the series and one of the best multiplayer games not only on the Switch, but on all current generation consoles. It is undoubtedly a reliable choice for all family gatherings or with friends, whether they are amateurs or professionals, young or old, everyone will find something to enjoy.
